“Katerina was awesome. She was very intelligent with all the great questions she brought on day one of the meet and greet. She was prompt, she understands instructions easily like enter my complex and inputting a code to enter my apartment. She gave me amazing updates on my kitties and sent me some really cute photos. She’s AWESOME!”

I am new to the area and eager to start caring for new pups. I am available 7 days a week from 8am-8pm for walking and drop-ins. “Thanks so much! I first booked Ally to help with my beloved dog Gracie, who was ill and on a lot of medications and needed some speciaized attention while my father took care of the other animals in the house. She came for a meet and greet to learn the layout of the house and meet the pack and see my complex feeding instructions. Unfortunately, my Gracie passed only a few days before my trip. 😭 Ally was willing to work with my ever changing needs with ease. She was super kind and ended up still coming twice during my trip to scoop the litter boxes and clean the dog bowls etc. She sent photos and an update, telling me how everyone was doing. It really helped ease my mind to have someone checking in while I was gone. Thanks again!”

“McKenzie followed directions on taking care of our Golden. She was prompt and very loving. So loving when we got home, we think he was dissapointed it was'nt her :). Thank you for such good care of our furry family.”

I’ll treat your pet like my own and make sure they’re well cared for while you’re away. I currently work full time but have every other Friday off. I am available weekdays after 5pm, every other Friday all day, and weekends all day. Your dog’s safety is my top priority on every walk. I’ll keep them securely leashed, stay alert around traffic, avoid unsafe situations, and follow any instructions you provide. Whether your dog enjoys a relaxing stroll or needs a long, energetic walk to burn off energy, I’ll make sure they get the exercise, attention, and care they deserve.
“Annie made it through her first drop in visit with us with flying colors. I am thrilled to death that we found her and I am looking forward to having her watch my dogs much more frequently”

About: I've owned, walked and helped train dogs for 17+ years. I enjoy providing dogs of all breeds and sizes exercise and enrichment, and always put safety first. I carry an extra leash, water bowl, loud handheld horn in the event we encounter stray animals or critters, and also have pet crates in my vehicle should I need to transport a pet to a park or local greenspace at a pet parent's request. I'm currently super flexible as I'm starting up a dog related business from home. I am available M-F with some availability on weekends and after working hours with some notice. Having had many dog walkers and caregivers for my rescue pit bulls over the years, I know how important it is to treat each dog (and their home) like my own. I will provide exercise, TLC, fresh water and food (if food is requested), and plenty of snuggles before I depart.

“Faith took excellent care of Raiken when he needed to be checked on while I was at work for the day. She was a great communicator and paid extra attention to ask about any specific needs for the day. I feel super comfortable leaving my pets in Faith’s care and will definitely have her come again! It’s clear Faith is a huge animal lover and very responsible which is exactly what you want when leaving your animals in someone else’s care. Thank you Faith!”
“Chelsea and Richard are very caring and conscientious. They always respond to messages and send updated pictures daily. I recommend them to anyone looking for a dependable, caring people to care for their pet.”

About: Animals have always been part of my life. Growing up, our family was constantly rescuing strays, helping lost pets find their way home, and occasionally falling in love and adding them to the family ourselves. Caring for animals isn’t just something I do—it’s something I genuinely enjoy. I currently share my home with my 11 year old son, our Australian Shepherd, Otis, and our two bearded dragons. I understand how much trust it takes to leave a beloved pet in someone else’s care. When your pet is with me, they’ll be treated like family. Whether they love long walks, belly rubs, playtime, or simply having someone nearby, I’ll make sure they feel comfortable, safe, and loved while you’re away. I know every pet is different, and I take the time to learn their routines, preferences, and personalities so their experience feels as stress-free as possible. I’d love the opportunity to meet you and your pet! I own a business, so I'm very flexible with availability during the week. Weekends I'm completely available. I will be here the whole time whenever we have visitors. I have a big yard for pups to play in. We love playing fetch or just sitting around our backyard enjoying our beautiful California weather. When we're not outside, inside our home is a calm environment.
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Olive
Cabe was amazing! He was super reliable and communicated proactively whenever he had questions or noticed anything. He genuinely loves cats and made sure to give our two plenty of cuddle time and attention. His report cards were detailed, engaging, and informative, and he was always diligent about cleaning up whenever they made a mess. I’d definitely book him again—thank you so much, Cabe!

Sarah was AMAZING!! So communicative and eager to go above and beyond for my kitty. My cat doesn’t like new people and Sarah was extremely patient and understanding of her needs. She gave a play by play of what was going on, and offered to clean up the litter and hairball/vomit which happened while she was checking on my cat. Will absolutely book again, and I’d recommend Sarah to anyone needing a drop in sitter.

Mel was such a blessing to us! She helped us out in several last-minute situations while we were staying at an RV resort in Orange, and we’re so grateful we found her. It gave us such peace of mind knowing Winston was with someone who was trustworthy, reliable, caring, and genuinely kind. She took wonderful care of him, and we felt completely comfortable leaving him in her hands. We would absolutely love to have Mel watch Winston again the next time we’re in the area. It’s such a great feeling knowing that when we come back, we have someone we can depend on. Thank you so much for everything, Mel! ❤️🐾

Dhalia was an absolute dream to work with! I was a bit nervous because I had never used a drop in service before but Dhalia’s professionalism and willingness calmed my nerves. I felt safe with her in the AirBnB with all the unexpected dog activity near Biscuit. Biscuit isn’t a cuddler in general and to hear that she felt comfortable enough to hang as such with Dhalia was a testament to how well she was with anxious pets. I LOVED her report card they were so detailed and all the pictures and videos of her wiggly little butt were soooo awesome. If I am ever in the area again with Biscuit I will 💯 will be using her again!

Vivian is the absolute best! She’s been caring for our kitties, Jules and Vinnie, since they were little, and they absolutely adore her. Knowing they get so much love and attention when we’re away gives us complete peace of mind. We’re incredibly grateful for her and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, reliable pet sitter!

I can’t be any happier with the service and kindness of Makenna. Our little girl (BizzyBee) was excited to see her every visit. This was the first time I had ever used Rover and was a little worried about having a stranger in our trailer while we visited Disneyland. But Makenna was wonderful. She stayed in contact with us the whole visit and put us at ease. We will definitely be using the service again and are already planning more trips to Anaheim and hope to be able to use Makenna again in the future.

Chandler took excellent care of our senior cat Chonky. She was very attentive to Chonky's needs. She gave him amply play time, brushed him and pet him. She also took care of feeding, giving him water top ups, taking out the trash, cleaning the dishes and litter boxes. She also vacuumed the tracked litter off the floor. We definitely recommend Chandler for your cat care needs!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy.
