My pup Riley (13 yr old) was run over back in 2017 and endured what no fur parent should ever have to experience, a long month long road to recovery. I booked another person who canceled a few days later. Now the trip was days away and I was in a panic. So, I posted another ad, and Yanela responded immediately. She has a surprisingly professional background—one that few people have achieved—but works from home, so pet sitting is something she enjoys. The day before my trip, I thought I’d better confirm that she’s coming, as I couldn’t afford to have another cancelation. I opened my phone, and there was a text from Yanela saying “Yay, tomorrow is my first day with Rosco and Bongo,” filled with hearts, balloons, and fireworks. That put me at ease. I told her I just needed a set of eyes on the pets—just be sure they have food and water. She didn’t even have to walk Rosco or entertain him in any way. But every day, I received multiple texts with pics and videos of her taking Rosco for walks, napping with him in the hammock, playing fetch, and even taking him to the nail salon.
