“Steve took great care of my dog, who was happy at the end of the day when I got him back. Steve was thoughtful and caring, and my pup really seemed to like him. I would highly recommend!”

“This was my German shepherd, Evie's, first daycare with Laura. Evie was a bit anxious at first but Laura got her to a calm state quickly and Evie enjoyed playing with her pug, Winston. Laura kept me updated and sent several pictures. Good experience overall and will be back”

“Janelle is amazing, i got stuck without my dog care for me dog John late on a Sunday evening, I sent Janelle a request upon learning of my dilemma. Janelle responded and i was able to deliver John the next morning. My John loves Janelle and her family and looks forward to his stay with her. Janelle service is awesome and is the only person that I trust John with. Janelle is the best!”

About: Hello everyone, My name is Kristen, I'm an outdoorsy, fitness fanatic with a love and passion for animals! I grew up with lots of dogs, my experience in pet care is from years of caring for my own animals, friends and family's too, as well as volunteering at animal shelters over the years. My husband and I recently decided to start a family, so I decided to focus on animal care full time instead of my busy office job. On the side of watching pups, I am a personal trainer, I would absolutely love taking your dog/dogs on walks, runs, hikes. We have a beautiful house on almost 2 acres of land. I live near multiple parks (and dog parks) and scenic walking/hiking trails. I love animals and I can't wait to care for yours! As long as I have a day of notice, I should be able to accommodate your schedule. I'm an early riser as well, so early drop offs is no problem. I'll have eyes on your pup the whole time, I do not leave dogs alone. The dogs are more than welcome to sleep in my bedroom as well as long as they are behaved enough to do so, they are also welcomed on the couches and all areas of the home
About: I have over 150 years of animal care with my past pets. My prior home was a farm where I cared for a multitude of animals. All of my past pets were long-lived and very well cared for. Having two to three dogs at a time over the years afforded them time to play together while I worked. Now that I am retired and no longer have animals, I hope to offer my skills to those who need a good, responsible sitter for their pets. Caring for your pet fills the void of not having animals anymore. My animals, which varied from cats, dogs, horses, a donkey, and poultry, among a few exotics have given me the experience of training and learning how to care for pets. I wish to extend my ability to care for your precious family member while you are on vacation, need time off, and even daycare. My property offers 1/2 acre on a quiet street. The backyard is fenced in with a 5' high chain-link fence. Opportunity awaits your pet for lots of love, exercise, and some training if needed. Please note anything over a 24 hour overnight will require a day care add-on. Your pet will be cared for per your instructions. A meet and greet determines what can and cannot be done. I am home most of the time and have provisions to keep your pet safe if I need to run out for a couple of errands. Preferable care is done in my home. While your dog is in my care he/she will be treated as part of my family and share my home with me.
About: As a devoted animal lover who recently lost my beloved senior boy, I am yearning to fill that void by showering other people’s pets with the same love and devotion. Because I work from home on five acres of land, I am able to offer your dog constant companionship and a peaceful, spacious environment. My hands-on experience spans all life stages—from energetic small puppies to elderly dogs needing gentle, specialized care. Having also adopted and rehabilitated dogs and cats with trauma, I understand the deep patience, calm energy, and compassion required to help every pet feel safe, secure, and right at home. I run my own business from home, and I have very flexible hours. Which allows me to provide constant companionship for your pet. Because I am always around, pet care fits seamlessly into my daily routine, ensuring your dog will never be left alone for long stretches and will receive all the playtime, potty breaks and attention they need throughout the day. Whether caring for your dog in your home or mine, safety and emotional comfort are my top priorities. At my house your dog will enjoy peaceful, leashed walks exploring my 5 acres of land, and I bring that same careful attention to walks in your neighborhood. Because I have experience with delicate elderly dogs, tiny puppies and rescues with trauma, I am highly attentive to safety. I always ensure leashes are completely secure and provide a calm soothing presence so pet feels protected. I do have a cat in my home, however they can be separated if needed. I also have a 22- and 12-year-old daughter and 9-year-old boy who miss their dog and will love on your pet as well.
About: I have been taking care of pets since I was 12. I love every animal for their unique personality and quirks. I have had several clients over the past 10 years that came to me by word of mouth. I have had dogs from puppies to seniors. I do have a full time job but I work remotely most days. I am flexible so I can be there when they need me. All I need is WiFi. If I watch them in my home, we will meet ahead so I can assess how your dog will do with my dogs and cats. I have a fully fenced in yard in a safe neighborhood. If I watch them in your home I come by for a meet and greet.
“Dani was amazing! Took my dog to her 3x and she was excited each time. Photos and updates were sent without asking. I would definitely book anytime to take care of my fur baby. I highly recommend.”

About: Hi! I’m a lifelong dog lover with experience caring for dogs of different breeds and personalities. I previously owned a male Boxer, and I currently have a Boston Terrier, so I understand the importance of providing dogs with attention, exercise, structure, and lots of affection. I’m a very active person who enjoys hiking and long walks, and I love having dogs join me for outdoor time and exercise. I also live in a safe, walkable neighborhood that’s perfect for daily walks and fresh air. I treat every dog like family and always make sure they feel comfortable, safe, and loved while in my care. Whether your dog enjoys being active or just wants companionship and attention, I’ll make sure they have a happy and positive experience! I have the summer off work ( starting June 23) so my schedule is open for both dog walking and boarding both during the week and on weekends. I have availability on the weekends and afternoons in the Fall. Doggy daycare hours are 9am-3pm In my home…I have a wooded backyard and a quiet and safe neighborhood for walks. My dog is very friendly and would love to have a friend over.

About: I have been a dog owner all my life. I've enjoyed caring for other people's dogs for the last 15 years. I am trained in dog CPR and First Aid. I live on a quiet cul-de-sac road with an ample acre yard to play. I'm happy to support any training efforts, I am GoodPup training certified. I love to play outside. There are tons of trails nearby to walk/hike here in East Haddam (my dog is my geocaching buddy). My lab would graciously share her swimming spots. Fetch, training, frisbee, you name it! I am willing to transport your dog, if needed. There is usually 24 hour care here in the summer months. When you leave your dog with us, they will be treated like one of the family. Cassie cannot wait to meet a new furever friend, come play!

About: I am an avid dog lover. I have had a dog since I was 8 years old and have babysat countless dogs since then. I have had a small shih-tzu and a black lab. They were the best! Although I know you think your pup is the best...rightfully so! I have babysat rotties, greyhounds, beagles, poodles, boston terriers, yorkshire terriers, and more. Usually I am the one who talks to the dogs at the party. Yes, that is me, and will trust the dogs instincts on whether a person has a good soul or not. I understand that each dog breed is unique and requires their own way to go about certain things. I understand some dogs need way more exercise and play time than others as well. I am purely an animal lover. I have volunteered at an Elephant Sanctuary in Thailand, where I was around about 50 rescued elephants and about 500 rescued dogs and cats. It was the highlight of my life. All animals need the love and care that any human would need. I truly believe this, and left the sanctuary with this concept solidified in my mind, body, and soul. I look forward to meeting your precious family member. My fiance and I rescued our doggie in 2021. His name is Bubbles and is the light of our life. I haven't had a doggie in about 8 years (since moving out of my parents) and was waiting for the right time. We are over the moon with our baby. I work from home so my schedule is flexible. I can easily incorporate your baby into my lifestyle. We will walk play and even cuddle! I have a fence in yard which is a temp fence and works perfectly for my 60 pound lab/pointer mix. I take my doggie on multiple walks around the property a day and usually 2 long walks a day.

“Ricky was great and seemed to really care for Leela - we had never met and yet I felt comfortable leaving her with him while I attended a memorial service. Leela seemed happy when I picker her up.”

“I received Laura's information from someone who also uses her for day care. My dog absolutely loved going there and was knocked out the rest of the night after I picked her up! Laura also sent me pictures and updates throughout the day so I didn't have to worry. Highly recommend!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of June 2026, there are 579 sitters on Rover offering Doggy Day Care across North Westchester. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your North Westchester commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CT ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, Rover is well-suited for finding sitters who can care for your pet within 24 hours. With 579 sitters in North Westchester, 89% respond to messages in under an hour.
You can message multiple sitters simultaneously to find the fastest available match. If you need care today or tomorrow, you can look for sitters with a "calendar last updated" notice on their profiles.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
