About: In the last decade+ I've taken care of half a dozen dogs and nearly a dozen cats for friends and through word-of-mouth, including a very senior chihuahua who was blind and deaf and needed diapers changed. I always had cats and dogs around growing up, including two difficult dogs from shelters who had issues. I live with an energetic pit-lab mix, and my parents' three rescue cats are still my sweeties. In the past I volunteered at an animal shelter, helping to socialize cats and walk dogs. I hike every day if I can, so if your dog enjoys vigorous exercise on trails, I can provide that too! I'm an adjunct college professor and freelance writer, so my work is part-time or sporadic, with much of it being done at home. If I'm available, I'll have plenty of time to linger and give attention to your pets! I'll follow your lead on what situations you're comfortable with for your pet, in terms of where I bring your dog for a walk, how they interact with other animals and people, etc.

About: There's nothing worse than having to leave your pet with someone you don't fully trust to care for them the way you will. Growing up with dogs, cats, rodents, fish, turtles, etc. instilled a strong sense of responsibility in me for detail-oriented and fiercely loving care for all types of pets. Among my friends, colleagues, and relatives, I have become the go-to person for drop-in walks, petsitting/house sitting, and more. Traveling or needing an extra hand taking care of your pet should not have to be a source of stress - I hope to be able to bridge that gap for you. Spending time with your sweet pet is just an added bonus! I have experience caring for dogs and cats under a year old all the way to senior pets who may require more attention (like medication administration). I have experience walking more than one dog at a time, as well as walking larger dogs up to 100lbs independently. I love playing with animals and see stimulating play as a vital part of caring for them while their owner is away. I work full-time for the University of Vermont - while I do work primarily in person, I have hybrid flexibility when I am not meeting with clients and am able to step away from work when I want and need to. My late afternoons, evenings, and weekends are typically free and flexible outside of rest and relaxation! I am located very central to the University of Vermont campus, the South End, and the Old North End. I can travel by foot, car, and bike. My shared living environment limits me from boarding animals in my home. However, I am happy to care for your pets in the space they're most comfortable in and familiar with! I can come and go from your home for drop-in walks, longer walk outings, and overnight stays if necessary. I will respect you and your pet's space and belongings.
