“Rebecca did a great job as always (2 nd time watch) watching my 2 cats Colby and Jack. They are a little high maintenance, but she handles it with a smile. I really appreciate you being here for the boys and housesitting them. I could not ask for a better cat sitter!!!🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾”

“Kristen treated our dogs and home like her own. We received regular updates that included smiling dog pictures. The dogs got to do their favorite activates, chasing a ball, having a nice brushing and then relaxed in the evening knowing someone was there for them., which of course allowed us to not worry about them. Kristen will be our go to when we have to be out of town! Thank you Kristen! Dave and Crystal”

“Xenia & John were excellent in caring for our pup while we were away. I received daily photos and updates of our pup that were reassuring and allowed us not to worry. When we came home, the house was very clean, sheets and towels were washed. Very thoughtful. We will call Xenia & John again for future trips.”
“I can't recommend Jessalyn enough! She was so amazing with my three kitties, especially my boy kitty who can be more shy and my older cat who needs a special diet for her kidney disease. My babies were very well cared for while I was gone!!”

“Livvi was very dependable. We first met with her about a month before she would be staying with Sebastian and she came over a second time, just before Christmas. When we came home, everything was just as we left it. If you need consistent updates such as pictures or have specific instructions on care I would recommend that you include this on a list. All of the things that we want can be a bit much to keep track of otherwise ( : We highly recommend Livvi!”

“Makenna did an amazing job house sitting and watching our chihuahua and aussie. She was great at communication and very flexible. I appreciated her taking the aussie last minute as plans fell through. We will definitely be using Makenna again!!”

“Kyle was GREAT! He took the best care of our dog and cat and house for the two weeks. We would absolutely use Kyle again. He will be the first one I ask next time we travel. Thank you Kyle, great job!”

“Heidi was great with Bo & Daisy! She sent regular updates, pictures, and videos of them playing and snuggling! We had Heidi house sit, ands she even ran the dishwasher and even put the linens through the laundry! Amazing! 10/10. Highly recommend :-)”

“This is the 2nd time we have had Emily watch our pets while we were away, and both of our animals remembered who she was and were so happy to see her again! She also did an amazing job keeping watch on our home while we were away. We love having her over and will definitely be booking for all of our future trips! 😊👍”
About: I am a school counselor, a mom, an adventurer, and a huge pet lover! We recently adopted a sweet Pitty named Bruce and are head over heels in love with the guy. I am no longer able to accommodate pets for daycare or overnights, but am happy to still check in at your home and go for walks :) I grew up with 6 shih tzus, 5 ferrets, 2 parakeets, and a mink. My pets were a part of our family and were always well cared for. I personally have owned a pit bull (now 2), a husky malamute mix, a german short hair, a terrier, a ferret, 4 cows, 4 ducks, 3 pigs, and 12 chickens. I have experience caring for animals of all ages. I enjoy going for walks and hikes and am looking forward to having some pet pals to tag along. I am patient, flexible, and open to new opportunities to bond with different types of pets. I'm available most weekends and holiday breaks. For longer durations please send me a message and I'll try my best to work with your schedule. I love the outdoors and would love to take your pet on some short hikes around local parks with your permission of course. When doing drop ins and walking your pet I am always happy to play fetch, tug of war, get in all the snuggles, and soak up all the fun.
“Emma was absolutely amazing. She took great care of my little Stormi. She sent updates with pictures and did everything I asked. She was very accommodating with my crazy schedule. And was easy to talk to about my needs. I will be using her for now on. Thank you!”

About: I truly enjoy dog walking and dog sitting. Currently, I am unable to have a dog and dog walking/sitting brings me so much joy. I especially like taking dogs out for daily walks/jogs/hikes. I'm good with their familiar walks and also exploring new places if they are an adventurous pup! I am comfortable with dogs of all sizes and breeds and making new doggie friends. I'd love to meet your baby - send me a message! I currently work from home most days and can be available for daytime check-ins. I am also available most mornings and evenings for walks and check-ins as well. Weekends are very flexible as well. When caring for your pets in your home, I will make sure it is calm and comfortable for your pets. I appreciate knowing any rules and routines that best suit your pet so that I can follow them and make it easier on you when you return home.
“Rosemary was very sweet and incredibly thorough when asking questions during our original meetup. That made me feel assured she was going to take great care of our pups, which she did! She stayed at our house while we were gone and took great care of that too. You couldn't even tell she was there! Her communication was great and we felt we could enjoy our time away without worrying. I would highly recommend her and plan to rebook when needed in the future. ☺️”

“My pup is a senior and we do not leave her often so it was great to know Morgan was there with her at night. She took great care of our girl and we will absolutely use her again!”

“Arlene did a fantastic job house/pet sitting while we went on vacation. She gave frequent updates on the animals and gave them lots a attention. I would highly recommend her service and will definitely use her in the future!”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Newman Lake walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Newman Lake maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Newman Lake choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
