Faith did an amazing job watching our pup! She was very communicative and fast to respond if I messaged her. She texted when she left and made sure I had an update on my pup of what they did that morning and locked up our home how I instructed. I would recommend Faith to other dog parents as well! Thank you Faith for taking care of our baby!

Ellie was very professional and got along well with the dogs. She cared for them during some sever weather. One of the dogs is very anxious during thunderstorms. She cared for them in a safe area during tornado warnings and storms. Thanks Ellie

This past week, we had our first ever experience using Rover. I’ll admit, we were hesitant to have, for lack of better terms, a stranger staying in our home taking care of our two dogs. As soon as we met Robin at the meet and greet, the hesitancy fell away. She stayed in our home for four nights and the way she communicated, how she very clearly loved on our babies, and the care, attention, and commitment she showed to the job was evident from moment one. Robin sent countless photos and videos while we were away and each one only showed how much she cared. Not to mention, our boys looked as happy and as comfortable as could be. Robin spoke to us like we have been friends for ages and she immediately picked up on the quirks of our dogs while not holding it against them. When we arrived home, we were greeted with the most adorable, hilarious, and detailed report of how our boys did while we were away. We have already asked Robin to come back for our next planned trip and would highly recommend her to watch your fur babies. Thank you, Robin, for going above and beyond! We can tell the boys already miss you.

I have always had pets growing up as a child and my love for them has grown into my adulthood even more. I have a passion for learning and understanding all different types of animals. My experience in Pet Care is from having my own pets to care for. I have two bearded dragons, two cats, one dog, and one fish. In the mornings I go to the gym and after I’m pretty much open throughout the day until school starts, which is in the beginning of January. Feeding and watering animals,Playing with them and keeping them company, Walking the dogs, Grooming and brushing the animals' coats, Changing the cat's litter box, Providing health care if necessary. Giving them affection, so they don't feel abandoned after their owner leaves.

About: I’ve lived with and taken care of cats, dogs, and exotic pets my whole life. I’ve been responsible for bathing, walking, giving them food and water, scooping litter boxes, clipping nails, and everything else your pet will need since I could walk. I’ve also pet sat for friends and family before, overnight or just for a check-in. I love spending time with my animals and I hope I get to meet yours too! I’m currently a student at USC, go Gamecocks! On MWF, my classes end at 2 so I am free anytime after that. Tuesdays and Thursdays are a little more spread out, however I should be able to stop in almost whenever to watch your pet! I am totally free on the weekends and can do anything but boarding your pet. Back at my house, I always make sure to be aware of my surroundings if I am outside, watching for other dogs, cars, other animals, or people. I will carry this same caution when taking care of your animals, whether in the home or outside of it!

Haily was awesome, she took great care of our dogs. She spent time with them in the basement during a tornado warning. My golden Is very afraid of storms and is not fun to be around during them but Haily took it in stride. She communicated with us while we were gone and sent pictures. Would definitely highly recommend her.

Sarah did an amazing job with my two kitties. She was super communicative and clear on when she'd be arriving at the house and what her schedule was like. She sent tons of pictures of the cats and was super responsive when I'd text. It really helped us be less nervous on a week long vacation that we had someone responsible and nice at the house to look after the cats. I could tell by the pictures she sent that they were relaxed and happy. We will be using her again for sure! The peace of mind helped us enjoy our trip without worrying about our babies.

About: I have been in this field for about 4 years so I can give medications if needed. I love my job, it’s very rewarding and I love all kinds of pets. Big, little, medium. I have always been a big lover of big dogs! I specialize in anxious dogs as I do have one of my own. I work full time 3 days a week 12 hour shifts Which gives me 4 days out of the week to enjoy my life and spend time with my pets as well. Our dogs in my home have free rage of the house. Water is out 24/7. They are constantly getting pets and play time with one of my family members.

About: As a child who was never allowed to have pets, I spent most of my time volunteering and then working at humane societies and rescues! I have experience with all breeds, all ages, all activity levels, and behaviors. I own two dogs myself, one of which is reactive so I am very familiar and comfortable with dogs who may have triggers. My other dog requires medication, so I am comfortable administering those if need be! Friends and neighbors have relied on me countless times for dog walking, sitting, quick drop in's, or short overnight stays. I currently work from home, so I am able to drop in at almost any time during the day! I am an early bird, so I'm happy to drop in in the early hours of the morning. I do not offer pet care in my own home. Based on my experience, dogs are much more comfortable in their own space. I am happy to visit your pup any time!

Lisa was great!!! This was our first dog/house sitting with Rover. We were hesitant having a stranger in our home but Lisa made me feel at ease during our initial meeting. She seemed genuine and extremely kind. She respected our home as it was her own. She took the initiative to gather used items and left our home very clean. She kept the dogs routines, did everything we asked and followed our home request. Our dogs were spoiled that’s for sure!!! So grateful to have met her.

Emily was great! She stayed at our house for 5 nights, watching our 10 year old great Pyrenees. She was available to house sit with only a week's notice, which we are very grateful for. She had good communication on giving me updates and also very timely whenever I reached out. I had genuine peace of mind while we were out of state. House was just as clean as, maybe even cleaner than, when we left it, huge relief after our long day of flying. We came home to our happy sleeping dog! Our dog just required morning/evening feeding and morning/afternoon/evening potty breaks at a minimum, and Emily definitely put in more than the bare minimum. She gave our dog all the extra weather permitting outside play time and inside loves that I would have given my dog if I was home, so we are very happy with Emily! Definitely would rebook! Thank you Emily!

About: As a veterinary student, I bring a calm, knowledgeable, and detail oriented approach to every pet I care for. My background gives me a strong foundation in animal behavior, so I’m comfortable reading body language, recognizing stress signals, and creating a low stress, positive environment for pets of all personalities. I also have hands‑on experience with senior pet care, including medication administration, mobility support, and adapting routines to keep older pets comfortable and happy. I’m patient, gentle, and attentive to the small details that help pets feel safe and understood. I’m currently on summer break, which means my schedule is wide open and very flexible. Pet care fits easily into my daily routine, and I’m able to plan my day around your pet’s needs rather than the other way around. I’m available for morning, afternoon, and evening visits, and I make sure each visit is calm, unhurried, and focused entirely on your pet. Because I’m not in classes right now, I can offer consistent routines, extra attention, and plenty of time for enrichment, walks, or quiet companionship. Your pet gets reliable care, and you get peace of mind knowing they’re with someone who’s fully present and attentive. My background has trained me to read animal behavior and stress signals, so I always approach pets gently and at their comfort level. I follow your care instructions closely; feeding routines, medications, enrichment, litter box care, and any house rules you have. I double check doors, gates, and latches every visit to keep your pet secure. I also keep your home tidy, respect your space, and make sure everything is exactly as you left it. During visits, I prioritize low stress handling, clean water, safe play, and a calm environment. I pay attention to changes in appetite, behavior, or energy so I can update you right away. You’ll always get clear communication and detailed updates, because trust and transparency matter.

FAQs for House Sitting - New Lenox

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in New Lenox on Rover is $66.6 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 3,964 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across New Lenox. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred New Lenox walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in New Lenox maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in New Lenox choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in New Lenox. On Rover:

  • 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
