“ALLIE IS AMAZING!! Our frenchie’s and indoor cat LOVE her and we are so thankful to have her part of our lives. We never have to worry about them when we have to be away because we know they are being well loved and cared for. She also is very reliable and gives detailed feedback and daily reports. Last, Allie is an amazing pet photographer and very knowledgeable about canine and feline health. You can’t go wrong with Allie, we highly recommend her!”

“i will definitely recommend and use Ryan again, he took great care of my dogs, he took detail on what their schedules and needs, my dogs where well taken care of, Ryan was a great help while i was on vacation! 5 stars!”

“JaNiya is a phenomenal housesitter, especially if you have shy animals (but *any* animal would love her!). We have two skittish greyhounds and a very shy adopted cat. Within one day, our cat was sitting in JaNiya’s lap, and our dogs were relaxed and happy. I couldn’t believe it! She has such a calm, tender presence, and you can tell she adores animals. She’s even studying to be a veterinarian! Do not pass her up! She’s the only housesitter we’ll use from now on!”

“Cortney took amazing care of my pack of 3 dogs and a pig. She updated me throughout the weekend and I came home to happy fur babies and a clean house. I highly recommend Cortney.”

“Tanya was very sweet with our dog and took great care of our home while we were away for the 4th. She went above and beyond in keeping her calm during a storm and fireworks. Would highly recommend.”

“Rachel has done a phenomenal job at taking care of my dog. She was very communicative and went above and beyond. My dog is quite anxious especially around new people, I could tell how comfortable she made him. I highly recommend booking with her!”

“Addie was fantastic. She stayed at my home for 15 days watching Freddie and Purrl, and honestly the communication alone made the whole trip stress-free. She sent regular updates and photos, so I never had to wonder how they were doing — I just knew. Came home to two happy, well-cared-for animals and a house left in great shape. Addie was respectful of my space the entire time, which matters a lot when someone's living in your home. Would book her again without hesitation and highly recommend her to anyone who wants a sitter they can actually trust while they're away.”

“Highly recommend! 10/10! 5 stars. Charish was so sweet to our pugs and sent many updates. She was also so kind and a really respectful guest in our home. We can’t wait for her to care for our girls again!”

“Courtney took wonderful care of our aged dog and our home during our vacation. Our dog's advanced age took special care and attention, and she worked with him, convinced him to eat, adjusted his diet as needed, gave him walks in the rain, and helped him deal with our absence. Many thanks to Courtney!”

“Michelle was wonderful! She was very attentive for our pup. She communicated any questions she had as well as frequent updates. She also even brought Pickles a pup cup (with permission). We would definitely recommend her!”

About: Hi! Scarlett Kelc, and caring for animals has always been one of my biggest passions. I truly love all animals, no matter their breed, size, age, or personality. If I could, I would probably adopt every animal I meet! I have spent my entire life around pets and understand how important it is to find someone you can trust with your furry family members. I currently have two dogs and one cat of my own, and we recently welcomed our second dog into the family. We strongly believe in adopting from shelters and giving animals loving homes whenever possible. Whether your pet loves long walks, playtime, cuddles on the couch, or simply having someone nearby, I will make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while you’re away. I treat every pet as if they were my own and always strive to provide them with plenty of attention, affection, and care. I know leaving your pet can be stressful, so my goal is to give you peace of mind through dependable communication, regular updates, and lots of love for your pet. I look forward to meeting you and your amazing animals! My routine for my animals is every day after school I come home feed them take them out. Once every two weeks I give my dog a bath clipper nails. With still being in school I would make sure that any free time I have I would give all my attention to them. I am at school from eight to 3 o’clock every day weekends I’m completely free. I believe that a safe environment is very important. I feel like whoever I am sitting or whatever animal take care of their owner should be able to trust me. I would want the same for if anyone was doing that with my dog or animal. I want everything to be safe and I want it to feel like they are at home and there’s not a stranger in their home. I will take care of the pet like I’ll take care of my own pet.
“Amanda was awesome to my little geriatric dogs. They are spoiled rotten and have several quirks to their care. She stayed a week in my home and very attentive to everything asked of her. Highly recommend!”

“Sarah was fantastic with Dutchboy. He's a rescue and needs a little extra accommodation and she was great at making him comfortable and keeping his stress level low. Sarah was also very responsive to our texts and kept us updated with status and some pics too, even if D wouldn't hold still very long for her to take them :) We'll definitely ask Sarah to stay with Dutchboy the next time we leave town.”

About: Hi, I'm Kirstie (pronounced "curse-tea"). I'm a huge animal lover and have taken care of my own and other people's cats and dogs since I was a child. I grew up on a farm with goats, indoor cats and barn cats, so I'm experienced with a variety of animals, including atypical ones. I'm very good with cats of all personalities especially and administering their medications. I'm trustworthy, dependable, and capable of following complex instructions. I hope you'll choose me to care for your pets. :) I'm also an artist and paint custom pet portraits, let me know if you'd like to learn more! I own my own small business and create my own schedule, which offers me lots of flexibility. I can be made available most days, please reach out for inquiries. I'm a very clean and tidy person and will be respectful of your home and leaving it the same, (or better :) ) than I found it.
About: I’ve always loved animals! And all my life I’ve always done something with them. Whether it be in boarding and daycare facilities-grooming-mobile grooming-volunteering at shelters all of it! I do have a job! But i always find times to care for those who trust me enough to give it. I’ve been doing this for many years so finding a just right schedule has been easier to manage! I personally like to schedule meet and greets before any overnight stay, dog walking, check ins ! Bevause that levels a ground of calmness and knowledge for the pet rather then showing up out of the blue. I always follow strict feeding protocols and make sure to communicate with the owners about how they expect things to be done for there furry friends.
“Andrea was a dream sitter. Her quite presence is so important when working with one hyper and one slow moving dogs. Not only did she take good care of my pups, but I was ill and could not go out. Her help of the dogs, helped me sleep.”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of August 2026, there are 442 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across New England. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred New England walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in New England maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in New England choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
