“Tanya was very sweet with our dog and took great care of our home while we were away for the 4th. She went above and beyond in keeping her calm during a storm and fireworks. Would highly recommend.”

About: I have owned pets my entire life. They are like kids to me. They are treated with respect and care equivalently so. I like pets more than humans. 😆 I own my own business and I work from home. I set my own schedule. I am very flexible. This allows me to give your pet lots of attention. I have a fenced in yard. I have a Pet door into the yard so they can come and go freely, when they have the “need”.
“JaNiya is an angel! She came to save the day when I was all the way in California and a sitter bailed on me. She came in and loved on my puppy, helped put my house back in order and get him on track with his meds. She gave me very helpful updates to ease my worry and also gave some flvery helpful insights as a new dog mom. I will definitely be a repeat client.”

About: Your dog’s comfort and joy come first. I bring years of experience and a genuine love for pups to make every visit fun, safe, and worry free! As a stay at home mom, I love spending my days caring for pets, going on walks, and visiting the horse barn. Pets easily fit into my daily routine, and I make sure they get plenty of love, attention, and playtime. I keep pets safe, happy, and comfortable, whether it’s in my home or yours. I follow routines, rules, provide food, water, supervision, and lots of play time. In your home I respect your space while giving updates to build trust.
“Kiara did such an amazing job watching my pup! My pup is reactive and nervous around strangers and she followed all of my instruction on how to interact with him and everything went great!”

“Perri has been amazing. She made the entire process easy, from the initial introduction to following up with us on a regular basis with updates and photos. Lots of photos! Our three dogs get so happy when she comes over to not only take care of basic needs, but to love on them and play with them. We would absolutely recommend Perri's care and service to anyone who is seeking more than just a pet-sitter, but being part of your pet-family.”

“Addie was fantastic. She stayed at my home for 15 days watching Freddie and Purrl, and honestly the communication alone made the whole trip stress-free. She sent regular updates and photos, so I never had to wonder how they were doing — I just knew. Came home to two happy, well-cared-for animals and a house left in great shape. Addie was respectful of my space the entire time, which matters a lot when someone's living in your home. Would book her again without hesitation and highly recommend her to anyone who wants a sitter they can actually trust while they're away.”

I have had 8 puppies in my care at a time as well if you need puppy care. I’m dedicated to providing loving and attentive care for your favorite family member. My schedule is very flexible so I am able to help at most times! I am in B2B sales and work remote. I can also run your dog if needed! “Shelby did an exceptional job petsitting our two cats! Loved getting pictures too. They were totally relaxed and clearly had been brushed and very well cared for when we returned. Highly recommended!!”

“Ryan is a fantastic dog and house sitter who loved on my dog Brady and gave him great care. He is so calm and responsible that I didn’t have a care in the world while being away for two weeks. I walked into my home just as I had left it and I think an even calmer dog than when I left him in his care. My flight was cancelled and he even stayed another night and brought him to Pet Paradise for a day of play when asked. I highly recommend Ryan as you couldn’t ask for a more helpful and knowledgeable pet sitter. Thanks Ryan for everything!!”

“Allie was amazing. Sent lots of cute pictures of my fur babies and even a cute little schedule of things they did throughout the day! We would definitely love to have Allie back to take care of our fur babies again!”
“Lindsay was great to work with! We had her house sit while out of town. She left the place the way she found it, sent pics, and kept us updated. Will absolutely use her again!!”

“This was my first time using Rover and I had a wonderful experience with Antonia. She was polite, professional, responsive and really cared a lot about the well being of my dogs. She cared for the house well and I definitely recommend her for any pet/house sitting jobs. Looking forward to working with her again!”

About: I’ve been caring for my furry family members since I was a young girl. I have trained puppies and cared for senior, ailing dogs as well. My pets have been and continue to be my family and are treated with respect and dignity and lots of love. I have clients whom I have cared for their cats and dogs and continue to have relationship and care for these animals. I am available for pet sitting for any length of time while you are away on vacation or stopping by throughout the day to feed, walk and play with your furry family member. I feed, play and talk with them, walk with them and keep them active to ensure a healthy life. I rest with them when they need it and groom them regularly- bathing them when needed, brushing them, providing oral care, and ensuring overall health with whatever supplements they need as well as visiting the vet when needed.
“We needed to find the perfect person to watch our two four legged kids in our home for a long trip, and we absolutely met the one. Toni met our gregarious Newfoundland and our somewhat shy Bassett, and they all fell in love with each other. Toni stayed in our house (so the dogs were comfortable lol) and it couldn’t have worked out better…the pups were right at home, Toni was able to keep an eye on our place, and she left the house cleaner than when she got there. We are completely comfortable with Toni, so grateful for her communication (daily pics and videos !) and trust her with our fur babies and our home. Can’t say enough about how we were able to relax on our vacation knowing Toni had things handled at home. Strongly recommend Toni, we will be happily asking her to help us again for our next trip. Thank you Toni, and Walter sends his best howl to you ?❤️?”

FAQs for House Sitting - New England
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 453 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across New England. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred New England walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in New England maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in New England choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in New England. On Rover:
- 97% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
