“Robin was great!! My pup loved her and she was not at all intimidated by his high energy and ill-mannered behavior. She communicated with us before and during the stay, and sent pictures. Sherlock was entertained and she even was able to get my very picky eater to finish his dinner. I highly recommend her.”

“I can’t thank Jordynn enough for the great care of my pups who have vastly different personalities. One sweet girl Nina who never wants to leave your side and could play all day and then my shy old man Dewey. But Dewey warmed up to her so quickly and I could tell Jordynn truly cares about animals. She was courteous, timely and thoughtfully communicative. Even though I was going to be without cell service during part of my time away I always returned to pics and updates. I look forward to booking with her again.”

“Hallie is a senior lab very attached to me so can be challenging to sit for in my absence. Even though Chloe just met her, I was very pleased to return home to a happy and healthy girl who obviously did just fine and must have enjoyed her time with Chloe.”

“Heather was beyond perfect! She was the best pet sitter I’ve ever had and I can’t say enough good things about her! I’m so incredibly grateful for how good she was with my dogs! She spent a lot of time with them and walked them 3 times a day which was exactly what I wanted! She helped my anxious dogs feel happy and loved! She sent many updates and followed my food instructions to an T! She sent many pictures which was amazing!! She even did the dishes I left in the sink! Just fantastic! If you need a sitter pick Heather! You won’t be disappointed!! 1000000/10 recommend!!”

“Every time we’ve used Solace has been great! This was our first overnight and as per usual, we were very happy to have her looking after our pups. She does such a good job with them and we are able to leave without any stress that they are being loved and well taken care of which is so important to us! We will book with her again without hesitation.”

“Katherine and her son have quickly become our favorite doggy nanny’s for Java by far. They spend special attention and kept to our instructions for our little guy. It really shows how much they love animals. On the first sitting Java had a hard time letting them leave. Thank you again for both of your wonderful.”

“Susan is a marvel. She’s a consummate professional that just loves what she does and the dogs love her back (and so do we). Thanks for taking care of our girls as your own.”

“Michael clearly loves dogs and he made sure our dogs were entertained and cared for. He even cleaned up before he left which was very helpful since we didn’t want to come back and clean after a long trip.”

“We were so lucky to find Leah. Exceptionally trust worthy and gave my Leo the best love and care! Frenchie’s need special care and anxiety support when we travel and Leo was so chilled when we returned!”

“Anna is absolutely amazing! She took such great care of our two dogs and two cats, and was really good about communicating. She even sent us pictures of our fur babies, and updates on how they were doing. She was super respectful of our house, and is so kind and great with our animals. Our cats and dogs warmed up to her quickly and she genuinely cares about them! I recommend her highly--you won't be disappointed!”
“Cassie did a wonderful job taking care of our 2 labs and 1 cat while we were away on vacation and made sure the house stayed in good working order! Her schedule was flexable enough to house sit Thursday through Sunday which allowed us to travel out of state and the primary reason we went with her. She stayed in constant communication and was swift with her reply! She gave us peace of mind knowing our pets where being well taken care for which allowed us to enjoy our vacation!”

“Alexia watched my pers for 2 weeks. They are healthy and happy. I don’t know what she did but my dogs are NOT ANXIOUS. They are calm!! For the very first time they aren’t going crazy when I step foot in the house.”

“I was only gone for two nights, but I could tell Emmanuelle loved my fur babies like they were her own. I got lots of pictures and text updates, and she was always responsive when I reached out. I will absolutely book with her again!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Navy Yard City
Valerie was incredible! We have two spoiled pugs and one of them is not well mannered, barks non stop and has separation anxiety/issues. He is great with his parents but we were very concerned with having someone else watch him for 2 days. She was very patient and understanding of his needs, very punctual and communicative. We got update pictures and texts and the house was left perfectly. Would definitely rebook if we ever had another event we could not have our pups. And absolutely would recommend!! 11/10

Christine took excellent care of our three dogs and our home while we were away. Everything was perfect upon our return - I think our dogs were sad we came back; they loved her so much! From pet medications to keeping tomato plants and gardens alive, Christine was beyond reliable and detail oriented. We will definitely continue enlisting her services!

Leah was amazing! She took great care of our fur daughter and sent pictures and updates. Leah also left our home in clean condition. She kindly went back after work on her last day to feed and check on Rainier because our flight was landing later than planned. We highly recommend Leah!

Lani was great! She was very on top of everything. Asked questions I didn’t even think about and wanted to make sure both sides were comfortable. When we returned it’s was like we never left. She did everything we asked around the house and the doggies were very happy. I highly recommend Lani and we will definitely ask her to watch our home and doggies again. Thank you
I don't really want to give Michael a great review because I want to keep him all for myself! He did an amazing job! Paco, my small chihuahua, is leery of men and Michael completely won him over! He was at my home the entire time and my house was spotless when I returned.
James took very good care of Tyson while I was on vacation! He’s got a positive vibe and gently allowed Tyson to get comfy on his own terms and timeline. He sent pics everyday that captured Tyson’s daily outings and activities! That helped ease my mind knowing he was happy and in good hands. I would definitely hire James again. Two thumbs up from me and four paws up from Ty 🐶 Thank you, James!

Karina stayed in home with our two dogs & reptiles for a week. She sent updates and cute photos of each pet. Super great at communication and treated our pets as her own. So happy we could trust our home and fur (plus scaley) pet babies with her without worry.

Waylon was amazing! He took care of our two beagles and home for about two weeks while we were on vacation, and I can’t recommend him enough. He was communicative, responsive, sent photos of the boys, and took excellent care of our home. We can’t wait to rebook with him. Oh, and he administered medication to our epileptic dog and took the boys on daily walks. Such a greater sitter- I think the boys miss him! Thank you, Waylon!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Navy Yard City walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Navy Yard City maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Navy Yard City choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
