About: I provide care that’s personalized, patient, and focused on each dog’s unique needs. I take the time to understand your pup’s routine, personality, and comfort level so they feel safe and happy while you’re away. Pet care is a natural part of my daily and weekly schedule. I structure my day around walks, feedings, playtime, and check-ins so each pet gets consistent attention. I start the morning with walks and potty breaks. I schedule midday visits and evening routines to keep pets on a predictable schedule that feels just like home. When pets stay with me, I create a calm, safe, and comfortable environment that feels like a home away from home. I follow each dog’s normal routine—feeding schedules, walk times, crate preferences, and any house rules you have. I provide plenty of supervised playtime, daily walks, and lots of affection. I keep common areas clean, offer cozy resting spots, and ensure pets are never left alone for long periods. Safety is a priority, so I always secure doors, monitor interactions, and use leashes during outdoor time.

“Madeline was fantastic! She checked in every day she was scheduled and made sure our pet was happy and checked water, food, and litter box. I think she even watered my plants for me. Would be thrilled to use her again in the future.”

“Cate was an excellent pet sitter for my cat while I was away! She was very responsive, sent photos and updates after each visit, and seems to have bonded well with my cat. She was also kind enough to extend her visits for an additional day when I got stuck off-island due to a storm.”

About: I’ve grown up taking care of animals my whole life, assisting my family with our array of pets. I’m great with bigger dogs who may require more strength to walk. I also have experience with cats, right now my family has a giant Maine Coon. I am a college student on summer break and my schedule is pretty flexible. I can work around you and your pets’ needs. I also am very active and can take your dogs for long walks/runs/hikes if requested! I currently have no pets in my apartment besides my fish tank. I am able to accommodate crate or no crate in my home. I live in an apartment building with multiple grassy areas surrounding and a walking trail. I am able to spend ample time with your pets.
About: I have years of experience caring for dogs of all sizes, including puppies and seniors. I love spending time outdoors, going on walks, and giving every pet personal attention and affection. Safety and comfort always come first! I work online, so my schedule is super flexible and gives me lots of time to spend with your pets. I’m home most of the day and can easily adjust to your pet’s routine. Whether they need extra playtime, cuddles, or a walk, I’m always happy to be there for them. I care for pets in their own homes because I know how much more relaxed and happy they feel in a familiar space. I’m very gentle and patient, and I always follow your instructions to make sure your fur baby feels safe and loved. I’ll keep you updated and treat your pet like my own while you’re away.
“We took the 8 hour Wildlife tour with Elijah and it was great!! We ended up being the only ones that signed up, so we got a private tour and saw lots and lots of animals in Lamar Valley and beyond. Elijah was well prepared, provided a nice lunch and was fun to spend the day with. I would highly recommend this tour!”

“Mackenzie was great! She texted me when she was on her way to our place for the drop in visit. She sent multiple pictures of our puppy while he was playing and eating. She put away all his toys when they were done playing. She was wonderful with our pup!”

“Thank you Savannah! We needed someone to visit Benny while we went to Yellowstone. Samantha was super responsive and visited Benny 3x today. Responsive, punctual, with great communication.”

About: I grew up around dogs and have spent most of my life caring for them. I love spending time outside with dogs and am always happy to go on multiple walks a day. I believe plenty of playtime, attention, and affection make for the best experience, and I treat every dog like they’re my own. I have a flexible schedule, which allows me to give pets a lot of attention and consistency while you’re away. I’m available for drop-ins, walks, and house sitting throughout the week and on weekends. I’m happy to work around your pet’s routine, whether that’s early mornings, evenings, or multiple visits a day. I grew up with multiple cats and am very comfortable caring for them, along with dogs as well. I pay close attention to each pet’s behavior and needs, and I always follow your instructions closely to keep their routine consistent. I prioritize a calm, safe environment and make sure pets feel secure and cared for. I’m also happy to send regular updates so you know how they’re doing.
About: I have grown up with dogs my whole life and have been relied on to take care of dogs of all ages, from puppies to seniors. I love taking them on adventures and I have some grooming experience. I specialize in caring for dogs with high energy. I am currently working a 9-5 from Monday to Friday but am available and have complete flexibility on Saturdays and Sundays for in house boarding. I do not have a fenced in yard, but I rely on the leash for security to bring the dogs out for many walks. I don’t have any pets so all of my attention will be focused on your pet.
About: I love pets and ever since I was little I was obsessed with them. I have watched over bunnies, hamsters, birds, and cats. But my favorite one of them all is my dog. We have had our little guy for about 3 years. He is a super happy and funny companion who will keep your dogs company alongside me. I am a college student and am currently available full time to take care of your pets. If there are any behaviors of which I should know, let me know ahead of time. On top of that if you want to tell me your dogs favorite scratching point that would be much appreciated. ( if not I’ll sherlock it anyway) I am currently home full time and therefore watching your dog is my 1st priority. It also gives me joy and excercise over the summer. Our first floor is quite big and has enough room for the dogs to play. My Pomeranian will also keep your dog company. My Pomeranian likes to sleep in my room in his crate. Your dog can sleep wherever they want and however they like it if they are potty trained. If not I would appreciate if a crate is brought along with the dog.
About: I’ve trained my own dog from a puppy, and recently trained a rescue dog who was once reactive and skiddish, now he’s confident and mellow. I love pets and always put them first; I just moved to Charlottesville with my dog and he’s been my absolute priority. I know how anxious pets can get when their humans leave, and I’m happy to help you help them feel comfortable. I am a college student working on my masters degree. I have pretty generous gaps in my day to care for pets. I have my own dog as well and am happy to do walks with both dogs! He’s very friendly and mellow. I will always respect a pets space. If in my home, the pet will have its own space to make its own. I want pets to feel happy and taken care of, and I will walk and play with your pup or cat happily! If a dog is reactive or has some disability, I have experience dealing with these issues and will adjust my care accordingly.
About: I have been taking care of my family's cats since I was in elementary school, but started fostering dogs two years ago. I ended up foster failing with my boy Maximus and it’s been all adventures since :) I am very comfortable working with any size leash reactive and anxious dogs and have been working through Maximus’ leash frustration for the past couple years. I truly love all animals and have been walking dogs on rover for a couple years now. I just moved to the Bay Area and I’m excited to meet some pups out here! I’m currently working full time with pretty standard hours. I am very flexible in the evenings after work and on the weekends. Let me know if you need a before work walk and I could probably make that happen! I live by myself in an apartment but I live very close to parks. I also love tiring out my dog with a hike and happy to do that with yours!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Nantucket. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
