“Aaron was awesome! My dog took to him immediately when we met up at the Nantucket ferry, and happily trotted around with him for the day. From a customer service standpoint, Aaron was incredibly responsive and responsible. He did a wonderful job on the spur of the moment!”

About: I have experience caring for dogs and cats of all sizes and have cared for animals for the past 30 years. I have volunteered with animal rescues on Nantucket and in Boton. I absolutely love animals and will go to any length to ensure your pet is safe and properly cared for. I’m currently available for part or full time care and possess almost 30 years of experience working with dogs and cats of all breeds and sizes. Depending on the owner’s guidelines and the pet’s needs, I will always go above and beyond to make sure your pet is happy, well taken care of, and of course safe.
“Kayla was absolutely wonderful and I will use her services again! She was sweet and caring with my dog, and the dog was very happy with her. I had a family reunion and every day was a different schedule. Kayla was so flexible and accommodating to my needs. She had excellent communication and response to my texts. A great experience!”

“I couldn't have asked for a better dog sitter than Ruby during my stay on the Vineyard! She made me feel completely at ease from the start and kept me updated with great communication throughout. She was also incredibly accommodating with my last-minute request, which I really appreciated. My dog was well cared for, and I wouldn't hesitate to book with her again. I highly recommend Ruby to anyone looking for a reliable and caring sitter!”

“My dog, Kiwi, had a fabulous visit with Andrea and Bob! They were extremely communicative and accommodating before our visit. They took care to learn Kiwi’s quirks, likes, and dislikes (she has a big personality, so there are a lot!). They even had toys and balls at their house for her to play with. It’s clear that they are experienced and intuitive dog caretakers, which is so important to me as a nervous dog mom. When I went to pick her up, Kiwi was all smiles and happy body language…I know she had a fabulous time and can’t wait to go back! Thank you, Andrea and Bob.”

“Chelsea was great with my Cosmo. Got lots of picture updates and felt very confident that Cosmo was being well cared for, safe and happy. Loved knowing that he was enjoying time with other pups!”

“Michele took good care of our senior dog so we could be tourists in Chatham for the day! She’s got a great fenced in and grassy back yard and even took notes for our dogs special needs.”

About: Hi, I’m Jenny! I’m thrilled to meet your canine, feline, or even small animal best friend. Growing up surrounded by animals, I’ve cared for dogs, cats, birds, hamsters, and guinea pigs. I’ve also fostered cats, boarded dogs, and taken courses in animal behavior and cognition, giving me a solid foundation in understanding pets’ needs. I work from home, which allows me to provide flexible and personalized care for your pet. Whether it’s walks to a nearby park, playtime or adhering to your pet’s specific routine, I’m here to make sure your furry friend feels at home. I’m available mornings, afternoons, and evenings. Whether you need daily visits, overnight care, or last-minute help, my flexible schedule allows me to provide the attention your pet deserves. Weekends and holidays? No problem—I’m here for you! Happy to take care of your pet the way you need (e.g., crate, no crate, bathroom outings every 2 hours, scheduled meals, etc.). I’m very flexible and will work with you on any special requests.
About: I’m a lifetime animal lover, and get along terrifically well with dogs. My house is the go-to for friends and family needing a place for their pups to stay. I am retired with volunteer jobs part-time (2mornings), during the week. I’m never away from home for more than a few hours during which time my dog-friendly feline can either ignore your dog or keep them company. I’m home the majority of the time. Cozy corner in my den seems to be everyone’s favorite hangout and spot for their bed. The ilving room has multiple sunny spots for napping throughout the day. We will take several neighborhood walks a day and if dog and owner are willing, I go to Thompson’s field in Harwich where they can romp.
“Rachel was very responsive, sent feedback and pictures and was flexible about pickup and drop off times. She lives in a quiet neighborhood great for walks and got my dog out for 2 of them! My shy dog seemed to settle in and get comfortable with her and Andrew. Overall I was very happy with her care and I plan to use her again”

About: I have taken care of dogs for years and have owned Brittany Spaniels, a Poodle, a Cockapoo, and a Border-Jack. I enjoy caring for dogs and learning about their personalities. I enjoy walking the dogs and live in an area with dog parks and walking trails. My home has a big yard to play catch or just walk in. I take care of pets as if they were my own. I live in South Dennis in a nice neighborhood, with a large yard. I am home on most days and enjoy walking my dog. We like to walk the beach or trails in the area. I have a big yard in a quiet neighborhood. I have a friendly dog that your pets can play with. I can crate your dog if needed. There are dog parks, walking trails and beaches in the area to discover with your pet.
“So thankful for Helena and her cat! My lil guy Guinness had a wonderful day playing and walking and fetching. Happy to be dropped off, happy after I picked him up. Thank you Helena!! Will hit you up next time I’m on the cape with Guinness for sure.”

“We hired Sarah for one very long day while on vacation. She was very accommodating when we had to drop off Monte at 7am. We were very impressed with her. She and her children seem to really like our pup, and vice versa! We enjoyed all the communication and photos throughout the day. Monte loved the fenced in yard. We felt very confident with Sarah (we rarely leave our somewhat anxious dog with people he doesn’t know). Five stars!!”

Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in MA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
