Kovu loved Sara and her pup Theo! He had a great time playing in the backyard and relaxing on the furniture. Sara was very respondent and sent lots of photos to make me feel good about leaving my pup behind.

She was awesome and super last minuite booking. My previous sitter back home bailed so i brought him to the beach, the house we stayed at wasnt super dog friendly so i reached out to gloria and she was willing to keep him for 3 days and the best part is he came back tired.

Michelle was a wonderful sitter for AJ! She was kind, thoughtful, and communicated with me throughout the visit. AJ loved her, and enjoyed all the walks and outdoor time. She treated AJ like her own and we are grateful we did not have to worry for his care while we were away.

Liz took care of my dog in her home overnight while I was moving us to a new house. All the change and chaos had my dog so anxious and confused, I thought a little vacation and some extra attention would help her feel less anxious. Liz was just what she needed! Right away in our meet and greet, my dog was relaxed and playful with Liz. During her stay, Liz sent me plenty of adorable pictures, kept me updated throughout the stay, and was very easy to communicate with. She was also flexible with time when I ended up with a dead battery and had to move things back a little. Most importantly, my dog came back relaxed and happy :) Thanks for making our move easier for Lucy and me!

Erin was phenomenal. She was very communicative and flexible - we wanted to pick our dog up every so often and bring her to the beach to play, and she was so great about it. She has an incredible yard and gave our dog so much playtime - we got videos of her playing with the kids in the backyard, swimming in the pool, couldn’t have been happier. Can’t wait to come back next year!

What an exceptional find! Rose is always so upbeat and cheerful, she clearly loves what she does living on her farm with all her animals and her boarders. The grounds are amazing and all her animals are clearly in excellent health. Otter was fascinated by the horses and had a grand adventure. I am delighted to have discovered this option, our go to now for sure.

Sam was an excellent sitter for my dachshund. I received lots of updates (even from a creek!), and he seems to have had a lot of fun. I can tell he enjoyed staying with Sam and I will definitely bring him back :) 5 stars all around

Flannery was wonderful! She was able to take my pup pretty last minute and was very communicative while I was away. Titan was very well cared for and I received photo updates frequently. Will definitely trust her with my fur baby any time!

Erin is by far the best dog sitter I've ever used (and I've been using dog sitters for over 15 years!). She's so kind and considerate; she sends pictures and genuinely seems to love of the dogs. Her dogs are super sweet and fun! I highly recommend Erin!

Mindy is a great dog sitter. From the first step of booking, she was very quick to respond, and she answered all my questions in a timely manner. When we dropped our dogs off, she greeted us, ready to have the dogs, with an immaculate home, dog toys, and a very welcoming home. She sent pictures and communicated daily with us. My dogs were very well cared for, walked, and I would highly recommend her. I was at total ease with her watching our two small dogs for the weekend.

Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Nags Head home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:

  • Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
  • Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Many sitters in NC ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
