“Channing wonderful-so helpful while we are away with her care of our furry friend. We have no worry and know he will get the love and attention he needs. Thank you Channing!”

About: I have been working with pets since 2023! I have done everything from walking dogs at the Humane Society to pet sitting to working at my current job which is a Pet boarding facility! I love animals and am so excited to get to know your pets! I work part time at a dog boarding facility so I’m available most weekends and most weekdays to walk dogs and do drop ins! I have experience walking dogs of all shapes and sizes! I love all breeds as well as all cats! Pets are my passion and I’d love to meet your pets!
“Than you, Jill! We could rest peacefully on vacation knowing our kitties were being looked after. They were fed and happy every day. Thank you for being efficient and dependable! You’re the best, Jill!”

“Morgan truly loves your fur babies, and it shows. One of our cats is incredibly skittish, and Morgan does everything she can to ensure kitty eats, despite her nerves. Morgan sends lots of updates and photos to let you know how the fur babies are doing while you're away. Highly recommend!”

“Christine was awesome and we can't say enough good things about her. We received daily pictures and updates during our time away and she was extremely helpful with our older, 17-year-old, cat, as well as with our two 9-month-old kittens. Christine was very responsive to our texts, and we will continue to book her as our caretaker when we are away.”

About: I’ve had several years of personal and professional animal care experience as a kennel technician, dog daycare host and vet technician assistant in the animal hospital atmosphere. My schedule fluctuates but I’m always off work from Saturday-Monday. I work 10 shifts during the week and my travel commute is about 1 1/2 hour per day for work. Pets will always be walked on a leash with constant supervision. Can offer long dog walks, play time at the local dog park, and spa days.

About: Animals aren’t just pets to me. They are individuals with emotions, personalities, and needs that deserve to be understood and respected. You can feel completely at ease knowing their happiness, comfort, and safety are always my top priority. As an animal rights advocate, I approach every animal with genuine compassion and awareness, tailoring my care to who they are, not just what they need on paper. Whether they are energetic, shy, playful, or sensitive, I meet them where they are and give them the attention and love that helps them feel truly safe and seen. You can trust that I will show up consistently, follow routines closely, and create a calm, caring environment while you are away. I do not just watch animals. I connect with them, care for them, and treat them like they matter, because they do. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine, and I structure my schedule to allow consistent time for walks, feeding, check-ins, and companionship. I generally maintain a flexible routine, which allows me to adjust based on each pet’s needs and the specific care plan we agree on. I’m intentional about not overbooking so I can stay attentive and responsive while pets are in my care. My availability can vary slightly week to week, but I prioritize clear communication and planning in advance to ensure expectations are aligned and your pet’s routine is supported as closely as possible. I aim to create a calm, safe, and comfortable environment based on each pet’s routine and personality. Whether I’m in your home or mine, I follow your instructions closely while staying attentive to how your pet is feeling. In your home, I keep things consistent with their normal schedule so they feel secure. In my home, I maintain a clean, low-stress space with close supervision and attention to safety and care. I stay mindful during walks and interactions and avoid anything that could feel overwhelming or risky. I also provide regular updates with photos and check in if anything seems off so we can decide what’s best together. I do not have pets of my own, but there are pets in the home belonging to my roommates. They are well-managed, and I take care to ensure safe, controlled interactions. I can also keep pets fully separated at all times if preferred
About: I have been a pet owner for about 15 years. I love walking dogs and caring for cats and fish. I am passionate about ensuring that pets are well cared for and just as happy when their owners return home as when they left. I am a second year dental student and have a fairly open schedule. I only have class for a few hours in the morning and some afternoons during the week days. I am available for dog walking and for general pet sitting responsibilities If I am caring for a dog then I make sure that they get plenty of exercise with a walk and being let outside. I also follow the directions of the client if they need to be crated or if a portion of the house is off limits to the pet. For cats I will make sure that they are fed and that the litter box is clean and anything additional the client is looking for.
“We can leave our cat Charlie knowing he will receive great care from Alana. She is responsible, always shows up on time and stays and plays with Charlie. She administers medication and is responsive to my concerns. We couldn’t get back due to the hurricane, no worries, Alana just extended her time caring for Charlie . Charlie is a shy cat and is reticent of people outside our family. Alana has built up trust and can easily pet and play with Charlie. A five star rating doesn’t cover her passion or dedication!”

About: I’m a dog trainer, reptile educator and small scale snake breeder (so I have experience caring for hatching snakes), and have fostered cats, dogs and reptiles. I have worked with animals since I was a small child. I’ve trained my own service dog and love training with young puppies and giving them a confident foundation. I regularly go bike joring with my own dog. I’ve always lived with cats and am very comfortable caring for them. I own many reptiles and am experienced with snakes and lizards, I’ve also worked with horses (rode competitively for 9 years and managed the care of four horses) and other farm animals. I’m not afraid of exotic animals like invertebrates and have some experience with them and with fish. I moved recently from Georgia and so my schedule is a little sporadic but free, I have a car to get around and can travel with animals easily. I regularly take hikes with my own dog, and have a car kennel for safe transport (the brand is Ruffland). I always double check doors are closed and locked as I had a dog when I was a kid who escaped because of a sitter. I follow instructions very carefully and treat every animal I interact with the way I’d like someone to treat my own pets. I keep pet reptiles and can feed and care for yours if need be.

That includes some grass and some shell. I am a street away from the celery fields.` I am open to having animals in my house and traveling to others if needed.
About: I grew up around many different kinds of animals, including dogs, cats, ferrets, guinea pigs, birds, fish, and horses. I have 3 years experience as a veterinary technician, and have some knowledge on caring for older pets or pets that need medication. You can count on me to treat your pet as if they’re part of my own family while you are away at work or on vacation. I’m hoping to make pet care my main focus. I am available 7 days a week. I am very flexible at the moment. Shoot me a message! :) Safety is always number one. I am very cognizant of potential issues and/or threats. About: I have taken care of pets personally since I was 10 years old. I currently have a cat that I personally medicate daily. My experience watching pets spans from house sitting large dogs to cats. I can walk, feed, and medicate both cats and dogs. Additionally, I have volunteered at both cat and dog shelters throughout my life. I have extensive experience with animals. I make it a point to care for pets as if there owners never left making them feel comfortable and cared for. I do work full time outside of rover which requires me to be gone for working hours. On weekdays I am away no more than 8 hours and on weekends I try to be gone less than 4 hour increments. I dog sit because I love animals. Please contact me if you are okay with these restrictions. Currently I am working during the week but have availability over the weekends and Thursdays! I am flexible depending on how far the location is from my home and job! It is important to keep pets environment clean and safe, so I always make it a point to keep things tidy. I ensure that the home will look exactly like the owner has left it and that their pet is well cared for. In the event of accidents, I have no problem cleaning up the mess and bathing the animal if necessary. Please just leave instructions on how you would like the cleaning and bathing handled!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of August 2026, there are 952 sitters on Rover offering Cat Sitting across Myakka City. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Myakka City. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
