About: I have experience caring for dogs of different sizes and personalities. I have a Great Dane and a Jack Russel, so I’m comfortable with both large and small dogs. I’ve also dog sat for neighbors and family, helping with feeding, walks, playtime, potty breaks, and making sure their pets are comfortable while their owners are away. I’m patient, responsible, and always follow the owners instructions so each pet can stay as close to their normal routine as possible. I’m currently in college, so I have a pretty flexible schedule through the week. Pet care fits well into my routine because I can plan walks and drop-in visits around my classes and other responsibilities. I’m also available on weekends and can usually make time for afternoon, or evening depending on the day. I make sure to keep my availability updates so I only accept bookings I know I can commit to. When caring for pets in a clients home, I follow the owners instructions closely so their pets can stay as comfortable as possible in their normal routine. I can help with feeding, fresh water, potty breaks, walks, playtime, and giving them attention. I also make sure doors and gates are secure and leave the home the way I found it. I’m happy to send pictures and updates so owners know how their pet is doing while they’re away!

About: I used to pet-sit. Worked at a day-care a while ago. I've worked and interacted with all types of dogs. I enjoy what I do. I actually get really excited when working with dogs. I know they're a lot to handle sometimes but I feel like they're great fun to work with and they always make me feel better. My favorite types of dogs include Boxers, Miniature Schnauzers, Miniature Pinschers. I like all dogs of all shapes and sizes. I am really into playing fetch with dogs. I also don't mind playing with rope toys. They might tear my arms off but hey! It builds character! I'm very easy-going and I feel like with dogs you have to have a great sense of humor and enjoy the trade in order to work with them. I hope you consider me for some of your services. I look forward to chatting with you over the phone, internet, or in person! Also, I have a sweet little Mitten cat (her name is Mittens). She's a blue tortoise cat with these little white Mitten paws. My father has a black Maltese poodle named Beau... The sweetest dog in the world. I used to live with him and we were the best of friends. We still are. But we just don't see each other as much. That's who you see me with in my photos. I have pretty much open availability. I am comfortable doing overnight visits and morning/afternoon/evening walks. I'm currently in the process of trying to build clientele so I'm more flexible now than I might be in the future. But my long-term goal is to make this a full time 8 hour day. The 8-hour schedule block will entirely depend upon demand though. Whether it's broken up into different times of the day with a break in between or a full 8 hours non-stop, entirely depends upon when clients need availability. The number one most important thing about pet care is communication though. Between the owner and me. The sooner we know things, the better. Your pet's safety, comfort, and routine are always my top priorities. I currently provide care exclusively in my clients' homes because I believe most pets are happiest and most relaxed in their own familiar environment. Staying in their home helps keep their routine consistent, reduces stress, and allows me to focus entirely on giving them the attention, affection, exercise, and companionship they deserve. I'll also treat your home with the same respect and care I would my own. Whenever possible, I love to schedule a meet-and-greet before the booking begins. It's a great opportunity for us to get to know each other, for your pet to become comfortable with me, and for me to learn about their personality, routines, favorite activities, quirks, medications, and anything else that helps me provide the best possible care. I firmly believe that in pet care, overcommunicating is always better than undercommunicating. I'd much rather ask one extra question than make an assumption, and you can expect prompt responses, regular photo and video updates, and complete transparency throughout your time away. While I would be comfortable offering boarding in the future, I currently choose not to because I share my home with a beloved cat. My decision isn't out of concern for her behavior—it's simply because I don't want to bring unfamiliar dogs into her space. By focusing exclusively on house sitting, I can give your pets individualized care in the environment where they feel safest and most at ease, while ensuring every animal in my care is comfortable, secure, and happy.

About: I’ve been taking care of dogs and cats for about 5 years now. I’m comfortable with dogs of all sizes and personalities, whether they love to play or just want someone to hang out with. I’ll make sure your pet gets plenty of attention, exercise, and care while you’re away. I know how important it is to trust the person watching your pet, and I’ll treat yours like they’re my own. I am a student at Maryville University so I can do check in’s and walks in the mornings and evenings. I’m also flexible on Fridays and weekends and will do my best to work around your pet’s routine. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I’ll always follow your care instructions, make sure your pet has fresh water, food, exercise, and plenty of attention. I’ll treat your home with respect, keep everything clean, and send updates with photos so you know how your pet is doing while you’re away.

About: Hi! I’m Jamie. I’ve been working with dogs for over 14 years & have experience with a wide range of breeds, personalities & needs. My passion is caring for medically fragile dogs, including those who are blind, deaf, or recovering from surgery. I’ve fostered over 25 different breeds of dogs (& over 75 dogs total) through CARE, APA, Even Chance Pit Bull Rescue, & Unchained Melodies since I started fostering in college. I am very active in the rescue world and previously have served on a board for a nonprofit animal rescue, so very experienced with rescue dogs. Dogs I have worked with come from many different & difficult situations including hoarding cases, neglect, abuse & organized fighting. I also have experience with other animals including cats & bunnies. I currently have 1 foster dog. I am a teacher, so during the school year I am away Monday through Friday from 7:30 to 3:45. During the summer (June through August), I am help with running a few kids to camps but otherwise am home & hanging out with the dogs all day. Dogs fit perfectly into my summer routine & get plenty of time to run around my fenced-in yard or relax inside if they are at my house for daycare or boarding. If I am swinging by for a drop in or walk, dogs also fit perfectly into my daily routine and are treated as if they were my own. For safety, I do require that dogs who stay at my house be crate trained. I crate dogs when I am not home to provide a calm, secure environment. I also have a camera on them for the short amount of time I am away so I know that they are always safe. When I am not working, I am home & fully focused on the dogs in my care. While staying with me, dogs have full access to my fenced yard & my home, but they are never left unattended. Please note that I am happy to schedule a meet & greet, but during this time I do not allow dogs from other homes to meet each other. Any current dogs in my home will remain crated. This allows your dog to settle in safely before exploring a new environment & helps prevent any unnecessary stress. Pets are treated like family whether they are staying in my home or I am visiting them at yours. I make sure they feel safe, comfortable & well cared for at all times. I follow your pet’s usual routine as closely as possible to help reduce stress. This includes feeding schedules, potty breaks, medication if needed & plenty of playtime. I love sending photo & video updates so you can stay connected to your pet while you are away. For boarding in my home, I send one update every 24 to 48 hours. If you prefer more frequent updates, just let me know in advance. For drop-ins & walks, I send an update after each visit with pictures & a quick summary of how your pet is doing. I always make sure they get fresh water, bathroom breaks & attention based on their needs.

About: I’m a lifelong cat lover with 12+ years of hands-on experience caring for my own cat, who recently passed away after a wonderful life. While I’m not ready to adopt yet, I’d love to care for yours. I’ve fostered a shelter cat, cared for a friend’s cat for about a year during COVID, and have cat-sat for friends many times. I also have some experience with dogs through friends—walking them together, spending time at dog parks, and playing with them at home. I’m comfortable around dogs of different sizes and personalities. I work from home full-time, which gives me a flexible schedule and allows me to provide attentive care throughout the day. Depending on your pet’s needs, I can easily incorporate pet care into my daily routine and ensure your cat receives consistent attention, companionship, and care. I live in a house with a calm, cat-friendly environment and understand that every cat has its own personality, routine, and comfort level. Whether your cat enjoys playtime and attention or prefers a quiet, predictable space, I'll make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for during their stay.

About: Hi! We’re Lainie and Stephen, and we’ve been caring for dogs for years in our cozy home in Fenton near the Bluffs. We know how important it is to feel comfortable leaving your dog with someone you trust, so we focus on creating a calm, safe, and personalized experience for every pup who stays with us. Our laid-back dog Lucy loves having friends to play with, and we have a large fenced yard for plenty of exercise and outdoor time. We also have experience with senior dogs, administering oral medications, and caring for dogs with special needs. We treat every dog like part of the family and love sending photo updates so you can relax knowing your pup is happy, comfortable, and well cared for while you’re away. Whether your dog loves playtime, cuddles, or a quieter environment, we do our best to make them feel right at home. 🐾 We live in a fully fenced home with a safe backyard, and both of us work primarily from home, so your dog is rarely left alone and always has attention and care. Our home is perfect for dogs who enjoy play, family interaction, and a predictable routine. We especially love hosting longer stays and repeat guests, giving dogs a comfortable, home-like environment while their families are away. We also have a cat who mostly stays downstairs, so all pets can feel at ease. We can’t wait to welcome your dog into our home and treat them like part of the family! My husband and I both work primarily from home so your pet would have around the clock care. Weekends and evenings kids are home for playtime! we have a fenced in backyard, and plenty of room inside for a crate and/or bed for your pet! plenty of room to safely roam around indoors or out.

About: I am a traveler who wants to spend weeks home with your pet!! I have owned dogs of all ages and know how to speak the language! Woof! I am extremely available when scheduled and will let you know otherwise. I make my own schedule so I am highly available when I am not traveling! Very flexible. Always honest about my availability and what I am able to provide. I am very good at reading what a dog needs and not lazy about it. Walk at 5 am? On it. Weird feeding times? Not a problem.

Emily took excellent care of my babies. She was communicative and paid close attention to detail. My elderly cats and bearded dragon have a lot of special needs, but she made sure to get it all taken care of. She gave both of my kitties subcutaneous fluids without any problems. My rather shy kitty even warmed up to her enough to greet her and ask for sink water. I definitely recommend her.

FAQs for Pet Sitting - Murphy

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.

You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.

Before booking, confirm:

  • the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
  • the care instructions the sitter should follow;
  • which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
  • how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.

Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.

Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.

During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .

sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.

Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
