“Taylor did an amazing job taking care of my cat and dog. Both pets got played with, taken care of, etc. Taylor also took my last minute request (which was awesome). If I need to leave town again I'm planning ahead so Taylor is available!”

“It was our first time using Kristina to watch over our pet while we were away, and it won’t be our last!! She was very sweet to our girl and our home while we were gone and felt a great piece of mind knowing our cat was in good hands. Thank you so much Kristina!”

“Meghan is great!! She helped us out last minute and took great care of our pets. She was communicative, thorough, and most importantly, kind to our pets, & we could enjoy our time away without worrying how they were doing. Highly recommend :)”
“Jonathan was awesome! He was very communicative with me and responsive to my cat's needs (which is just needing pets and head scratches!). Will definitely book again!”

“Newish to RVA and first time using Rover. Alyssa was great with my 13yo kitty, Rizzo. She was professional, timely, and communicative. I loved receiving daily photos and updates while I was traveling. Knowing Alyssa was watching my baby gave me peace of mind. I would rebook Alyssa without hesitation!”

“This was my first time leaving my kitties with a Rover. Maria and Luis were AWESOME. They were punctual, thorough and reliable. They sent me lots of pictures of my fur babies, including a picture of the freshly scooped litter box at every visit. I will definitely book with them again in the future :)”

“Heather was great! She was communicative, responsive, and prompt when coordinating care instructions and when reaching out in response. She followed instructions and provided consistent and helpful updates. I loved getting updates and photos throughout the day. It helped give me peace of mind while being away for 12 hours. I absolutely recommend her, and look forward to a repeat booking in the future.”

“Emily was great! She took care of two cats and four hens—and one of our cats is getting elderly and increasingly prone to unsanctioned pooping?. Emily didn’t miss a beat though and we’d be happy to recommend her. We look forward to having her back in the future! Thanks, Emily!!”

“Kacey was so great with Rosie! She made sure she had everything she needed and took lots of photos for us. Definitely recommend her for all your pets!”

“Danyelle is AMAZING!!! Took such great care of my boys over a holiday. Gave me daily updates and even put up with some of their eating "quirks", which isn't always easy. But she was super patient with them and gave them all the love they needed while I was gone. I was so super happy and relaxed to know they were in such great and caring hands. Heck, even just the trek to my trash can for litter box cleaning was an extra effort in and it's self. Can't recommend Danyelle enough!”

“Nick’s care and communication have been absolutely phenomenal, and I truly appreciated it. I could tell Sebastian felt well loved and cared for through the pictures that he sent during my time away! This was my first time using Rover, and I'm sold. I'll definitely keep Nick in mind as I travel frequently, and we've had some family shifts so care is not always as readily available.”

“Sidney is great! Super friendly and not bothered by my wacky dogs and their little issues. She arrived right on time and sent cute pics! Will definitely book with her again.”
About: I’ve lived with dogs as long as I can remember and have had a significant part in their care for about 10 years. The last 4 years I’ve been the primary caregiver for my pets. Since I was a teenager I’ve been the designated pet and house sitter for friends and family! I currently work full time but work from home two days per week. My mornings before work and evenings after work are dedicated to the pups. If necessary I am able to take a long lunch for some extra pup time. I have a fully fenced in yard where my friendly pups love to play and a puppy proofed home. Pets are welcome anywhere people are allowed, including furniture. My 2 dachshunds are super outgoing with other dogs and can keep up with big dogs! In a client’s home I will take into account any of the house rules of the pet parents.
“Cynthia was a great pup-sitter, and kept me well informed with pictures and updates! Sebastian tends to be anxious and he looked like he didn’t miss a beat of belly rubs, cuddles, walks and attention. She communicated all needs and changes in behavior during my time away! She was a great sitter!”

About: For the last 5 years, I've been volunteering care for a herd of goats on Gillie's Creek Park. I am also the primary farm sitter for several friends' homesteads and a frequent pet sitter for friends and acquaintances. I have a broad range of experience: handling elderly animal care, newborn feeding/monitoring, pet anxiety, unique medication/feeding schedules, and general care for most farm/domesticated animals. I have a deep love for animals and their welfare with a desire to assist you and your pet in any way possible. I'm currently working part-time with a very flexible schedule. Typically not away from home for more than 3 hours at a time during marked available hours. My schedule can be adjustable if coordinating in advance. If caring in your home, I ensure that all items are back where they were originally left and that all feeding bowls and areas accessed are cleaned and organized. My home has a fenced-in yard, plenty of plants, natural lighting, and no other pets to contend for attention or food.
“Amazing communication and so sweet with my pup. She sent the cutest photos and I plan on continuing to use Maggie for all services!! 10/10 would recommend”

“Elijah took wonderful care of my two cats while I was away. He communicated well, followed the care instructions, was able to administer meds to one of my cats without issue, and made friends with them by the end of their time together. I am glad to know they were in good hands! Thank you!!!”

About: I’ve grown up around dogs for most of my life and already occasionally pet sit for friends and family. I used to work as a caretaker at a doggy daycare, and decided to continue pet care alongside my new job as it became such a fulfilling part of my life. I'm experienced with dogs of all sizes, breeds, and I'm experienced with a variety of other animals such as cats, fish, lizards, turtles, birds, and hermit crabs. My current work schedule follows the standard Mon-Fri 8-5, with most of my weekends and evenings open. Because of this, I'd be most suited for pets that are used to this schedule already. Otherwise, I try my best to stick to their current schedule for things like feeding and walks. I always feel comfortable meeting the parent(s) and pet before the booking. I can take care of all basic tasks and am very adaptable, patient, and reliable. I do my best to learn about each pet's little mannerisms and quirks so I can accommodate them the best I can while keeping them and your home safe. I want to make sure both you and your pet end up happy! I always ask that I'm given the pet's vet and an emergency contact as well, just in case.
“Fran did an excellent job sitting my 2 cats. She sent me pictures and even cute videos of them. That eased my mind while I was away. I felt very secure leaving them with her. She asked great questions before I left and kept in great communication with me as I was gone. I will definitely ask her to cat sit again.”

About: Providing reliable, compassionate care for your animal companions is my primary focus. I hold a college degree and have spent the past years dedicated to the well-being of diverse animals, ranging from dogs and cats to exotic pets. My approach centers on your pet's comfort and happiness, ensuring a safe, stimulating, and consistent routine that mimics their home life. I prioritize strict adherence to dietary needs and maintain vigilant observation for any changes in health. When managing high-energy breeds or challenging pets, I rely on active play and responsible decision-making. I remain calm during emergencies, communicating immediately with you to ensure your peace of mind. I am punctual, responsible, and deeply empathetic toward every animal I meet. I truly cherish witnessing the unique quirks of each pet, and I look forward to welcoming your furry, feathered, or scaled friend into my care. I am currently working as a pet sitter full time so I have open availability and am very active so walking your dogs or running around with your pets is great for me! I care for pets in their client’s home by following their normal routines, keeping their environment safe, and making sure they feel comfortable and relaxed. This includes feeding according to their dietary needs, providing fresh water, giving walks and playtime for exercise, administering medications if needed, and maintaining clean litter or cage areas. I stay attentive to their behavior and health, communicate updates, and offer plenty of affection and companionship so they feel secure while you’re away.

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Montrose
Maria and Luis did a great job of keeping our cats fed, happy and loved. This was our first time using Rover and I am so grateful our first experience was so smooth and easy with Maria and Luis. They arrived on time, sent multiple photos and updates and it was clear they knew how to work with our shy and energetic cats.

I reached out to Bianca after our long-time sitter decided to switch careers. Bianca is thoughtful and communicative. She asked great questions during the initial meet and greet and kept me updated on how my boys were doing throughout my trip. I will definitely be reaching out to her for my next trip.

Nick was great with our little June! We had a lovely meet & greet ahead of time before our trip. He was always responsive and asked good questions before hand and throughout. We’re super appreciative of his flexibility over a holiday too! Thanks for everything Nick :)

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
