I’m a full-time pet care professional and lifelong animal lover who truly can’t imagine doing anything else. Caring for animals isn’t just what I do—it’s what I love, and I treat every pet like they’re my own. A little about me: I played collegiate tennis at WVU and earned a degree in psychology, which actually helps me better understand animal behavior, anxiety, and individual needs. After 6 years in corporate America, I followed my passion and have now been walking and boarding dogs full-time for the past 6 years in Richmond. I’ve worked with all kinds of pets—including puppies, seniors, anxious dogs, and those needing extra care or medication—so I’m very comfortable adapting to each animal’s unique personality and routine. Animals have always been a huge part of my life. I grew up with dogs, cats, and even fish—and yes, I once brought my college psychology research rat home because I couldn’t bear to part with him 🥹 Through Rover, I’ve cared for dogs, cats, bunnies, and even chickens, and I’m always happy to learn and follow your specific care instructions to make your pet feel safe, happy, and loved. Emily was great! She was on time and professional. She took great pictures of my dog on her visits and kept me informed on how she was doing. I was a little afraid to leave my old little dog with someone new, but it worked out very well and Emily made me feel very comfortable. Using Rover was convenient, and I loved seeing photos of my dog while I was away.
Emily has been flexible with my schedule changes and is very communicative. She’s patient with my pup who is still working on some training and has been very easy to work with. Definitely recommend, appreciate all you do!

Emily did a fantastic job with my 3 dogs! They all have unique needs, and she took the time to really understand them and give them the love and attention they needed. If you have a big dog, a little dog, a Senior dog, or reactive dogs—she handles them like the pro she is!

I’m working with pets full-time so as long as I have availability… I’m happy to help. I am also happy to help on weekends as long as I am in town!

Safety, trust & environment
I offer both in-home care and care in my home, depending on what’s best for your pet! In my home, I typically host dogs I already know and have built a relationship with, or new dogs after confirming they are friendly, well-socialized, and comfortable around other animals—especially my golden retriever. Creating a safe, calm environment for everyone is my top priority. I also have a crate available if your dog prefers or is used to one. For care in your home, I’m very flexible and happy to follow your exact routine to keep your pet as comfortable as possible in their own space. Whether that means sticking to feeding schedules, administering medications, setting alarms, cleaning up messes, wiping paws, or just giving them extra love and attention—I’ve got it covered. My goal is always to make your pet feel safe, happy, and as close to their normal routine as possible—while giving you total peace of mind.
Pets
A typical day
Every day is tailored to your pet’s needs, but it always includes a mix of exercise, attention, and lots of love! For dogs, I prioritize daily walks (or runs if they’re up for it!), playtime like fetch or toys, and plenty of mental stimulation. I make sure they’re getting their energy out while also feeling relaxed and cared for. Of course, there’s always time for snuggles and downtime—if they’re into that too! For cats, I take a more personalized approach and let them lead. Some cats love attention and cuddles, while others prefer their space—I’m very in tune with those differences. I spend time playing with them, keeping them engaged, and making sure they feel comfortable and safe. Throughout the day, I stick closely to your pet’s routine, including feeding schedules, medications (if needed), and any special instructions you provide. My goal is for your pet to feel happy, stimulated, and loved—like they’re on their own little staycation while you’re away!

It’s especially helpful to know about any sensitivities or signs of aggression (toward people, other animals, food, toys, etc.), as well as things like handling preferences (areas they don’t like being touched), feeding routines, or anything else that helps them feel safe and comfortable. The more I know, the better I can create a positive, stress-free experience for your pet—and ensure everyone stays happy and safe!
