Kennedy was awesome. She was there for us when we had to book last minute because the person who was supposed to watch our dog bailed unexpectedly. She was receptive, considerate, kind, and communicative. I should mention that our baby is an English Bulldog. Kennedy understands the different needs of brachiocephalic breeds. And she was able to go that extra mile for us to properly care for our fur baby!

Highly recommended! Elayna was wonderful. She made sure to keep us updated on when she got to our place, walked and fed our puppy, and even our puppy’s naps. She sent us photos and even in the pictures it looked like our puppy, Lima was smiling with her there. Elayna was flexible, communicative, and very kind. We will definitely be booking her in the future for Lima.

This was our first time having Patrick watch our dogs and stay at our home, and we couldn’t be more impressed. From the start, Patrick proved to be reliable, responsible, and genuinely caring. He took great care of our dogs—not just covering the basics, but making sure they were comfortable, happy, and sticking to their normal routine. It gave us a lot of confidence knowing they were in such good hands. He also did an outstanding job taking care of our home. Everything was kept clean, organized, and exactly how we left it. It’s not easy trusting someone in your space for the first time, but Patrick made it completely stress-free. Communication was excellent throughout. We received regular updates and photos, which made it easy to relax while we were away. For a first experience, this couldn’t have gone any better. We highly recommend Patrick and will absolutely be using him again in the future.

This was the second time we've worked with Heather and we look forward it every time! She provides detailed updates throughout the day, checks in when necessary, sends the cutest pictures of our dog, and most importantly, makes our dog feel loved while we're away. She handles working with an elderly dog with grace, especially given his medication schedule and separation anxiety. We know our dog is in fabulous capable hands while we're gone. She's a delight to have as a house guest and goes above and beyond expectations. Thanks for your help, Heather!

Milica took excellent care of our quirky and sometimes inscrutable greyhound, Bonnie, while we were away on vacation. She was extremely patient and attentive to all of Bonnie’s needs, administered her medications, and kept her on a great routine. She also went the extra mile and took care of some things around the house, which was a great help. Milica is a great communicator, and I am so deeply appreciate of her kindness and consideration (toward both humans and animals!) If you are picky about who stays with your pet, don’t hesitate to book Milica!

About: I have been an animal lover all my life and have been around all types of animals. But dogs are my sweet spot. I have owned my own dog for the past 3 years, but have had numerous family dogs while growing up. I learned how to train my own dog by getting training lessons for her. I love caring my friend’s dogs and am often the one they ask to watch their pets when they leave town. I will give your pet all the scratches and belly rubs they desire as well take them on walks in my neighborhood as often as needed. As of now, I’m only able to do house sitting on the weekends, but I’m glad to do drop in visits and walking throughout the week. I currently work in a hybrid job setting where I am home 2 days a week and in the office 3 days a week. But I am able to take breaks to take pups out for walks every 4-6 hours. I when walking other people’s dogs I am make sure they are leashes securely and comfortably. I only walk in neighborhoods that are walkable or if needed can transport in my car to a a more walkable neighborhood. I want all the dogs I care for to feel safe when out on their walks.

About: Hello there, I am a certified Veterinary technician, I have been in wildlife and small animal care for the past 14 years while dog sitting on the side. I am new to the Pittsburgh area and looking to find new clients! My previous experience includes zookeeping and wildlife rehabilitation in the Boston area for 7 years and then working for a professional dog sitting/hiking company in Medford MA for another 5 years. I moved to Pittsburgh to get my CVT (Certified Veterinary Technician license) in 2024, and now work at a lovely little small animal clinic. I am well versed in animals with complex medication/therapy needs, such as insulin administration and exacting medication timing requirements. I am also very experienced with exotics, particularly birds. I work full time Monday-Friday so I am primarily seeking weekend and holiday pet-sitting arrangements. I am also happy to work in drop in cat care around this type of schedule as well. I cannot currently offer in my own home pet care due to landlord request, but I have been dog/cat/house sitting in clients homes for 14 years and am experienced with maintaining specific pet routines and training schedules. I have a leave no trace policy when it comes to other peoples homes. I am also very happy to water plants and manage aquarium care as needed. I also do not drink or party, I just need a sofa and a good book.

Trai was just awesome. We booked him for a week long vacation with our giant breed dog and he was great. The house was cleaned up, he was always super easy to communicate with, and even sent this crazy dog mom pictures! He’s just so nice and easy to work with. I can’t say enough about him! I worry he’ll be too booked when I need him again because he is one of the best!

We’ve had a great experience using Kasey and Alyssa to care for Bailey. They stayed in our home for several days and took such wonderful care of him while we were away. Jeremy stayed in our home for a week with our Husky and two elderly cats - one cat requires both an oral and a topical medication and our Husky requires an oral medication. Jeremy provided excellent care and at least daily check ins with photos. Our home was super clean when we returned home and could tell that Jeremy tends to both the pets and home he is caring for like his own. Jeremy also handled more bizarre situations that were encountered (like a dead possum in our backyard) super well. Communication from the start of our request for a meet and greet was exemplary. Quick responses and always right on time at the agreed upon time even when using public transportation as the primary mode of transit. We would love to welcome Jeremy back into our home and would be so grateful to have him care for our animals and house again in the future.

FAQs for House Sitting - McKees Rocks

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in McKees Rocks on Rover is $49.95 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 1,490 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across McKees Rocks. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred McKees Rocks walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in McKees Rocks maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in McKees Rocks choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in McKees Rocks. On Rover:

  • 87% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 92% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
