“Karri was great with our elderly dog while we were gone for a week. She stayed in our home and took care of him like he was her own. She went over and above in taking care of Ben. He has ongoing health issues that can change very quickly and she easily adapted to his needs, gave meds and even completed ear cleanings when needed. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a dog sitter. We will not hesitate to have Karri stay with Ben again.”

About: I've grown up with cats and dogs my entire life and have always loved all kinds of animals—chickens, goats, dogs—you name it! (Yes, I’ve had all of them!) My family currently has three cats: Harry, Thomas, and Luke. We recently said goodbye to our pug, Cooper, after 15 wonderful years. Two Christmases ago, I brought home our current dog, Kyah, for my family. She’s a Great Pyrenees-Anatolian Shepherd mix and my favorite napping partner! I also taught her a few fun tricks—she can turn around, roll over, speak, and, of course, give a good shake. I have experience with animals of all sizes and personalities, and I’d love the chance to care for yours! I'm currently pursuing a bachelors in nursing. My class schedule takes place in the afternoon, and I have no other priorities besides classes and studying. I'm able to go for as many walks as your dog would like, and give endless scratches! They will never be left alone for more than 3.5 hours (at the most). I'm comfortable giving any medications that are needed. I sit for my Aunts two german shepherds who both receive oral medication, as well one of them receiving a specialized raw diet.
“Our dogs loved being with Victoria while we were away on a trip! It was our first time having someone watch them in our house, but it went really smoothly and the daily updates provided us with the peace of mind that they were doing well. We would love to have her watch our dogs the next time we are away!”

About: Hi everyone, My names Ellana! Im currently 20 years old and absolutely adore animals! I’ve taken care of dogs since I was 7 years old and currently have a frenchie of my own back in MN! Being away from home can be tough at times but spending time with animals is really an escape for me. I love all dogs from big to small, I do have a little bias for all breeds of bulldogs though, they are my fav! I am currently looking into going into canine physical therapy as a full time role for my future:) I’d love to help out as needed so please send me a message! I am a very active student so I love being able to give dogs the time outside that they need. That being said I am always willing to stay in for some cuddles. I have weekends off from all class and job requirements so I like to fill those times with some furry friends! I have my own room and plenty of space and capacity to take dogs on adventures via car or walk! I love spoiling pups when they are with me.
“McKenna is such a great sitter! She’s reliable and trustworthy, and takes such great care of my girls while I am away. I’ve already booked her for more future housesitting visits. 💕🐾”

“Cassidy dog and house sat for us for a long weekend. She took amazing care of our senior dog who needs a lot of special care and medicine. She kept the house spotless and kept our pup happy! We would love to have her back!”

About: Hello! My name is Tyler and I've been around animals my entire life. I am very comfortable with dogs and cats, including in my home, as we have a four-year old Frenchie, Odie, and two-year-old Boston Terrier, Marzipan. I am a work-from-home sports journalist who can leave the house, often at specific times, to meet your needs. I also have the flexibility to potentially stay at your home or be there during the day to interact with your animal, as I can work remotely as long as I have internet. I have been helping watch my friends' animals over the last 10-15 years, giving me plenty of experience to help with your animal and give them all the pets they want while I'm there! I am comfortable with doing things like giving medication, putting in a crate, take on walks, etc. Please feel free ot reach out if you have any questions! I am a work from home sports journalist with a very flexible schedule. I do have multiple YouTube shows I do each week where I would need to be in my office, but those are around 11 and 6 on both Mondays and Thursdays. I can do most of my work remotely, so I can sit for you by either hanging out during the day or possibly staying the night. I will treat your dogs like I do my own: with care, compassion, and a lot of love. I am a kind hearted soul myself, and often connect very well with dogs. Whether you need them to be walked, on strict rest, get lots of playtime, etc, I will gladly do that for your pup like I do for my own at home.
“My fur babies loved her. She was very knowledgeable, kind, easy to talk to, good energy. Understood and was reassuring of my nervous issues leaving my kiddos at home for the first time in 6 years. Definitely recommend and will be happy to have her house sit or anything with our babies again. Thanks Aphra.”

“Allysa did a great job watching Jayla while we were away for my daughter’s wedding. I appreciated her communication and photos she sent while we were gone. She was very accommodating with providing the same routine with Jayla that we do when we are home. House was also clean when we returned. Will definitely have her watch Jayla again!”

“I would recommend Karina to anyone. She’s everything you want to watch your dog, responsible, respectful, professional, and our dogs loved her. This was our fist time with Karina and will use her again no questions asked. Thank you Karina!”

About: I have owned dogs all My life and cats for the last 7 years. I have been working as a vet tech for since 2007 and before that worked in a boarding facility. I love animals as much as I love my kids, they are a member of the family and that's how they are treated. I have 2 daughters they are both comfortable and respectful of animals as well. I am comfortable with administering medications if needed. My dogs are kennel trained and enjoy their space but I don't require your pet to be kenneled if it isn't something they are used to. I am flexible and willing to work with people on their needs, being I work at an animal hospital I get the luxury of taking my pets to work and could bring yours as well if they are not used to being left home alone. I look forward to meeting you and your pets! I currently work Monday-Thursday as a vet tech so I have the flexibility of bringing your pet with me to work or having them at my home. I have a fenced in yard and 3 dogs of my own who are used to keeping other Fur friends company. Also access to my fenced in yard is through a closed garage.
“Sammie is everything anyone could possibly want in a dogsitter. She is highly experienced, dedicated, flexible, clearly loves and knows a lot about animals. She is also a lovely person to work with.”
“Elaine took excellent care of our reactive pups! She watched them for 6 days shortly after we moved into a new house and handled the situation and their quirks like a pro. Will definitely contact her to watch them again in the future!”

About: Hi! I grew up in a family that always had a house full of pets, so caring for animals became a natural part of my life from a young age. I now have two cats of my own and have been pet sitting for others since I was 16. I have extensive experience with both house sitting and pet sitting, and I always make sure your home is left clean and your pets feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for. I know it can be stressful for pets when their family is away, so I make it a priority to give them plenty of attention, affection, and love while you’re gone. My goal is for both you and your pets to have complete peace of mind! I’m also comfortable caring for pets with different energy levels, including senior pets and pets with special routines or medication needs. I currently work full-time in the jewelry industry, but caring for animals is something I truly enjoy and love incorporating into my routine! My typical work hours are 11:00 AM–7:00 PM, with Thursdays and Sundays off. My general availability is: • Sunday: Available all day • Wednesday: 8:00–10:00 AM & 5:00 PM onward • Thursday: Available all day • Friday: 8:00–11:00 AM If you need care outside of these times, feel free to reach out! I’m happy to see if I can make arrangements to fit your pet’s needs. 🐾 Your pet’s safety, comfort, and happiness are always my top priorities. I know every pet has their own routine, and I’ll do my best to keep things as normal as possible while you’re away. I’ll follow all care instructions carefully, keep your home clean and secure, and provide regular updates with photos so you can have peace of mind. I treat every pet like they’re my own and strive to create a calm, loving environment until you’re home again.

“Cory was awesome: very communicative and consistent in updates, he let us know whenever he would need to leave the house for a little while (which was also communicated ahead of time), and kept our place clean. Very capable and confident, which is especially needed for one of our dogs who tends to be more reactive. I’m so grateful we went with him and we genuinely look forward to using his services again in the future!”

Amy was fantastic! She took great care of my senior dog while I was away. Roscoe was happy when I got home and I could tell that she gave him lots of love and treats. Amy stayed at my house for 4 days and very respectful. Cleaned up after herself and washed bedding before I got home. I highly recommend Amy and will definitely be using her again!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Mayer on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Mayer walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Mayer maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Mayer choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Mayer. On Rover:
- 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
