About: Hello, my name is Amanda! I’m an experienced and compassionate pet sitter with 10 years of hands-on experience caring for a wide variety of animals. I’ve worked with puppies, senior dogs, and large breeds, and I’m comfortable watching multiple dogs at once while making sure each pet gets the attention and care they need. I have experience administering oral medications, supporting dogs with special needs (including helping care for a blind dog), and adjusting care routines to fit each pet’s personality and abilities. Safety, patience, and clear communication are always my top priorities. In addition to dogs, I’ve also cared for cats and guinea pigs, so I’m happy to help out in multi-pet households. I am a dog groomer, which has strengthened my understanding of dog behavior, handling, and overall pet wellness. I am available most of the day. I am working as a dog groomer so when I am not working with a dog I am available for pet care! It easy to work my schedule around what a pet parent may need! I can easily crate your dog if needed. I will keep your animal in designated areas if directed to do so. I am comfortable walking any size dog or if you have a fenced in yard I can watch your dog there.

About: Hi there! I'm Ellyn. I have a magnetic, intuitive connection with animals that seems to form the moment we meet. During a recent backpacking trip in the Grayson Highlands, I had an experience that perfectly illustrates this: a fellow hiker’s black lab approached me with such immediate, heartfelt recognition that the owner was completely taken aback. It felt as though we were long-lost companions reuniting. She came rushing to me, whining and crying with pure joy, and when I came down to her level, she immediately laid on me, whimpering and cuddling. 🥹 This is the energy I bring to every interaction. While I began my journey as a pet sitter years ago while living in California, I am now returning to this work with a deeper perspective. For my canine friends: I am a big believer in the power of a 'sniffari.' I love taking dogs on walks where they set the pace, allowing them to explore and sniff to their heart's content. I believe this is the most mentally enriching and effective way for a dog to walk, and I am always happy to facilitate that. For my feline friends: I am a true cat lover at heart! I understand that cats require a subtle, patient approach. I’m excellent at reading feline body language and providing the kind of quiet, respectful companionship that makes cats feel secure and relaxed. Why you can trust me with your pets: Beyond my natural rapport with animals, my professional background as a Registered Nurse and my practice as an energy medicine practitioner mean that I am observant, responsible, and highly attuned to the non-verbal needs of those in my care. I bring a professional level of health-conscious care to pet sitting. I am comfortable with: -Administering medications as prescribed. -Managing specialized feeding schedules or dietary requirements. -Tracking and reporting on any health symptoms or behavioral changes. Whether your pet needs active outdoor time or a calm, quiet presence at home, I am dedicated to providing reliable, compassionate care. I would love to meet your companions and see how we connect! I currently work part time 3-4 evenings a week so have lots of time to care for long sniffy walks or quality time playing/snuggling with your pets! Trusted background as a registered nurse, willing to follow the schedule/flow you keep at your house. Am able to crate and take to appointments, as needed.

About: Dear Pet owners, My name is Dave and have been watching pets now for about 10 years on and off. Mostly local and for friends and family. Now that I've discovered Rover I'd like to branch out a bit and meet new four-legged friends and their owners too. I enjoy taking dogs for walks around their neighborhoods, local conservation sites and to the beaches in the off-season. I've taken care of both cats and dogs and houses and plants too, at all times of the year. I know the area fairly well and I enjoy the elements no matter what they bring here in New England. I'm good at following specific diet rules as many of our pets are picky and some may get sickly otherwise. I enjoy playing with pups and lounging with the older dogs too. I'm fairly flexible when it comes to where I'm staying if it's overnight and not shy when it comes to cleaning up after a pets mess here and there. Overall I like dogs and cats, we seem to get along well and we often have a good time and they are always well taken care of while they're owners are away.

About: I’ve had pets my entire life, especially dogs. My first pup was an Irish Setter when I was just four, and over the years my family rescued many dogs — including plenty of Basset Hounds — so I’m comfortable with all kinds of breeds and personalities. I’m now a cat owner as well — it’s a new experience, but one I’ve grown to love. At the moment, I’m available nearly every day, including weekends, thanks to a flexible work schedule. I’m happy to work around your needs and adjust as things come up. My kids are fully grown, so I have some more time on my hands! I’m completely comfortable crating dogs when needed, and I’m confident handling daily walks, potty breaks, and general exercise routines to make sure every pup feels safe, happy, and well‑cared for.

About: Reliable, clean and active. I am an absolute animal lover and have been blessed to have watched, walked and cared for many beautiful dogs and cats over the last 15 years. I have good energy and can provide care and love for even the most spunky pets. I am a flight attendant and have extended periods of time off while I'm home. I also have a great deal of flexibility in my schedule and can take time off to accommodate long stays. Love! Play, exercise and attention are a must. Gentle discipline if needed and cleanup. I'm happy to brush and wash the pets as well for an additional fee. Whatever the animal needs I'm happy to give them my full attention.

About: In my family, we’ve had dogs of our own since I was a kid. I have helped walk, feed and bathe the pets of family members and friends for 7+ years now. I love animals and would love to care for your animals! Currently I work a fully remote job as an attorney, which offers flexibility to work for home and care for your pets. I am available 7 days a week for short and long-term jobs with the ability to stop by frequently for walks and potty breaks. I enjoy the outdoors and walking dogs in the quiet pet friendly neighborhood park behind my house. I’m capable of walking dogs on a leash and am careful about how I do so. I follow instructions for feeding and love relaxing and playing with both cats and dogs. I’m also available to stay with your pets in their home environment.

FAQs for House Sitting - Marion

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Marion on Rover is $40.93 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 1,163 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Marion. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Marion walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Marion maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Marion choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Marion. On Rover:

  • 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
