Natalia took great care of my 2 dogs and 1 cat and our house while we were out of town! This was my first time leaving my pets in someone else’s care. One of my dogs is reactive too so that added an extra layer of anxiety. But Natalia did great handling him. She sent lots of updates and photos so I didn’t even feel worried while I was away. Thanks Natalia!

Janine did a great job watching our two dogs. She was reliable, communicative, and clearly cared about them. It gave us peace of mind knowing they were in good hands, and they were happy and well cared for when we got back. We’d definitely trust Janine to watch them again and highly recommend her.

Stephanie was great with my two 9 month old pups. She was clear about setting expectations, rose to the occasion when one of the pups had an ‘incident’, kept them active with multiple walks in the day and did everything with enthusiasm and love.

About: 🐾 What sets me apart is my lifelong experience with dogs of all sizes, breeds, and personalities, along with my hands-on experience in training, grooming, and behavior management. Growing up, I helped care for a Schipperke and later two Chihuahuas, where I developed a love for daily walks, grooming, and building strong relationships with dogs. As I got older, I wanted to expand my experience and raise a high-energy working breed, which led me to my Australian Shepherd, Bailey. 🐶 Since bringing Bailey home as a puppy 7 years ago, I’ve participated in obedience training, at-home training, 4-H, showing, herding, and swimming activities. I also learned how to groom her myself and developed a strong understanding of canine body language and behavior. Through raising her from puppyhood to adulthood, I learned how to recognize what dogs are communicating through their actions, energy levels, and routines. ❤️ I later welcomed a second Australian Shepherd, Willow, who has a completely different personality. She’s vocal, energetic, and more sensitive to certain environments, which taught me that every dog has unique needs and triggers. This experience helped me become adaptable and attentive to each dog’s individual personality. 🎓 In addition to caring for my own dogs, I’ve helped owners work on puppy house manners, basic obedience, and simple tricks. I’ve cared for dogs ranging from small companion breeds to larger breeds such as Labradors and German Shepherd mixes. ✨ Whether your dog needs an energetic walking partner, a patient sitter, reinforcement of good manners, or simply someone who understands their unique personality, I strive to provide care that makes them feel safe, understood, and loved. Pet care is already a major part of my daily and weekly routine. As the owner of two Australian Shepherds and a young cat, I’m used to planning my schedule around feeding times, exercise, playtime, grooming, and providing companionship. 🐶 My dogs receive daily walks and enrichment activities, and I regularly brush and groom them to keep them comfortable and healthy. My cat also gets dedicated playtime and attention throughout the day. Caring for pets isn’t something I fit in when I have spare time—it’s already an important part of my lifestyle. Because I’m accustomed to caring for animals with different personalities and energy levels, adding pet sitting, drop-in visits, or walks fits naturally into my routine. I genuinely enjoy spending time with animals, whether that means going on a long walk, playing fetch, providing enrichment, or simply keeping a pet company while their owner is away. I understand how important consistency is for pets, so I do my best to maintain their normal routines and make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for. Whether I’m caring for pets in my own home or a client’s home, my goal is to keep their routine as consistent and stress-free as possible. I start by learning about each pet’s schedule, personality, preferences, and any special instructions. I want to know things like feeding routines, exercise needs, favorite activities, medications, areas they are allowed in, and any behaviors or triggers I should be aware of. For dogs, I provide walks, playtime, potty breaks, enrichment, and plenty of companionship. I’m experienced with both high-energy dogs, like my Australian Shepherds, and more laid-back dogs who prefer a slower pace. I also reinforce house manners and any training routines owners are already working on. For cats, I make sure they have fresh food and water, clean litter boxes, playtime, and attention based on their comfort level. As a cat owner myself, I understand that some cats love to socialize while others prefer their space, and I adjust my care accordingly. I also pay close attention to a pet’s behavior and body language. After raising dogs and cats with very different personalities, I’ve learned how important it is to recognize when a pet is excited, nervous, tired, overstimulated, or simply wants affection. Above all, I treat every pet as if they were my own by providing a safe environment, consistent care, lots of love, and regular updates to owners so they can feel confident while they’re away.

I was able to actually enjoy a week away with family for the holidays because Evelyn was so good at keeping me updated with daily pics and videos and she took special care of my home. Highly recommend her!

Shalindra was absolutely wonderful with our pup, Kahlua, while we were away. She went above and beyond in every way, even accommodating a last-minute flight delay and staying later than planned on her birthday to make sure Kahlua was cared for. We loved receiving daily updates and photos, and it was clear Kahlua had a great time with all of the park adventures and extra attention. When we returned, Kahlua was happy, freshly bathed, and our home was spotless. Shalindra was incredibly respectful of our house and treated both our dog and our home with so much care. We felt completely at ease knowing Kahlua was in such capable hands and would gladly trust Shalindra again in the future. Highly recommend!

She makes sure the house is exactly like we left it, clean and well taken care of, and our little puppy girl is loved and cared for while we're gone. She's super easy going and communicates just the right amount. Morgan makes it so easy for us to take a trip when our pup can't go.

About: I have owned dogs for 9 years, therefore I understand basic training such as potty training, guiding behavior, and some tricks. I also am experienced in living with them, and cleaning up after them. I have watched cats for 3 years, cleaning up after them, feeding them, and playing with them based on their needs. I have now owned a cat for 1 year, giving me more experience living with them. I am currently on the job hunt, looking to work with children, meaning I have a lot of time off to spend with your pets during the week and weekend. My home is not the best place for other pets, as I have a dog that was not socialized young due to covid. However, I am very detailed at following instructions for others homes, and will care for pets based on my years of knowledge living with pets, and based on the guidelines of the owners.

I have put my life on hold for a long time, but leaving my fur babies with anyone is always stressful. However, Elena is a breath of fresh air! She is truly amazing, and I felt at ease with her immediately. Elena is very communicative and sends cute photos to check in regularly. Marley recently lost her brother and has been feeling depressed. The bonus is that Elena has a 2-year-old Shih Tzu/Poodle named Lava, whom we introduced to Marley during a meet and greet. They got along so well that Lava gets to babysit too! I hope this new friendship will help bring Marley out of her shell and support her through the grieving process. I cannot say enough great things about Elena. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring dog nanny who may even teach their fur baby a trick or two! Lava does backward handstands on command so definitely talk to her about dog training, which is a passion of hers.

About: [Preferred name: Keith , He/They] I’ve helped take care of my family dogs since age 10, most being larger dog breeds (german shepherd, huskies, pitbull). From puppy chaos, to older dog care I’ve seen it all. Willing to accommodate for whatever needs- All dogs have their unique quirks and even if its tucking them in at night, Im up to it! I currently am on medical leave; disability causes physical limitations that are manageable through monitoring/breaks(impossible in food service). My schedule is rather free because of this, allowing me to plan events around pet care rather than the opposite, allowing me to prioritize their care! Best Contact Hours: 8am to 8pm (PT) I remain available for contact through message or call consistently! If desired updates during care may be sent, whether requested beforehand or spontaneously. [including pictures & videos of course!!] I have reliable transportation and am also willing to allow pets in my vehicle. Of course accidents occur, for such I have a waterproof pet blanket to prevent damage of any kind! [accidents or extra cleaning will never bring complaints/charges as it is expected with pets]

We have used Katelin before and were delighted that she could come back. She is super prompt with communication and very kind. She adjusted her time when our travel plans had a shift and also help set up up the house for an additional sitter to come--which is more than I expected. Very sweet and gentle with the pets, gave our girls two walks a day. We will gladly use Katelin again!

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Maple Heights-Lake Desire on Rover is $44.4 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 8,261 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Maple Heights-Lake Desire. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Maple Heights-Lake Desire walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Maple Heights-Lake Desire maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Maple Heights-Lake Desire choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Maple Heights-Lake Desire. On Rover:

  • 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 94% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
