About: I’ve been caring for dogs and cats for over 20 years and have experience with pets of all sizes, breeds, and personalities. Friends, neighbors, and family have consistently trusted me to walk, feed, bathe, and check in on their pets while they’re away. I’m comfortable handling high-energy dogs, shy or anxious pets, and senior animals who need a little extra patience. I understand how important routine and consistency are, and I always treat every pet like they’re my own. My schedule is flexible, allowing me to provide dependable care throughout the week. I’m available for drop-ins, walks, and check-ins during weekdays, evenings, and weekends. I will plan my schedule carefully, so your pet receives dedicated attention and isn’t rushed. Whether you need consistent weekly visits or occasional coverage while traveling, I can accommodate most needs with advance notice. Your pet’s safety and comfort are always my top priorities. I will follow your care instructions closely and maintain your pet’s normal routine to minimize stress. In your home, I’m respectful, clean, and attentive to security. I will pay close attention to behavior changes, ensure gates and doors are secure, and keep a calm, positive environment. You can trust that your pet will receive responsible, attentive care every visit.
“Nicole was fabulous! I cannot speak highly enough of the care she gave our three cats while we were away and how well she communicated with us to let us know how our girls were doing! The pictures she sent made it abundantly clear that our cats were being well taken care of and also being well loved! She will be my go to pet sitter for sure!”

“Alison was great! She was very informative when arriving and taking care of my babies. This was my first time using Rover and will definitely be using her in the future! Thanks Alison!”

“Allison was a great sitter and friend for Smitty for the three weeks we were out of town. There were many visits involved over this time period and Allison did a good job communicating with us about Smitty's various walks and play-times, what kind of mood he was in, whether he drank some water after play-time, and other info. She really cares about Smitty and enjoys the work. We highly recommend Allison!”

About: I have always had dogs, raising them from puppies. I have had old dogs, sick dogs, active dogs, pure breeds, and mixed breeds. They always become part of the family. I work from home and am usually only away for a couple of hours at a time. If I know ahead of time that a specific pet needs more attention, I can schedule accordingly. I have a fenced yard with a doggie door. I keep the doggie door shut unless an owner asks for me to use it. I do not have any children or pets of my own in my home at this time. I live in a quiet neighborhood. A very calm environment.
About: Hi there! I’ve owned and loved dogs my entire life and can’t think of a better way to spend my days than taking care of your baby(ies) like they’re my own! On top of 10 years of owning and caring for my own dogs, I have 4 years of professional pet care experience. Open to elderly and medically complex dogs, and available for short notice bookings as well as most holidays. :) My schedule is pretty open, so I have all the time and attention in the world to give your furry friends. Open for both drop in visits and long term stays. I am happy to care for your pets in your home and, for longer stays, do some light housekeeping as well. In depth instructions for your pet(s) are my best friend; there’s nothing I want more than to know exactly how to make your baby feel their most comfortable. Don’t be afraid to go into detail!

“Frances and her family were beyond amazing! We are new to the area and we’re due to have our baby and needed a reliable person to care for our pets while in the hospital. Frances was very flexible with the schedule due to our situation which was a blessing! The care our three dogs received was more than we could ask for and we couldn’t recommend her enough. We have one very large dog and two very small ones so she is also great with variety! She went above and beyond, we are very pleased with her service and will definitely book with her again!”

“Sophia was quick to respond to a last minute request, communicative, professional and arrived on time. She went above and beyond to make sure my dog was happy and well cared for during the visit.”

I also have my own dog now as well who is a golden doodle I currently work full-time but from home and don’t have many meetings so my schedule is flexible! I’m able to come and go throughout the day as needed I love animals and love to either take them for walks, play in the yard or at the park. Or even just in the comfort of their home!

About: I’ve always been an animal lover that is patient and nurturing to pets. I grew up with both dogs and cats. For years I have been a reliable and trustworthy person among family, friends, and neighbors. I have extensive experience checking in on pets and playing with them throughout the day, dog walking, and overnight pet/house sitting for a variety of cat and dog breeds. I also have experience administering medication to pets if needed. For example, one dog I’ve watched many times had a case of kennel cough/pneumonia and/or ear infection that required daily antibiotics and ear drops. I am extremely passionate about pets and giving them the best care possible to ensure they remain healthy, active, and happy. I take pride in providing excellent care and peace of mind for pet owners. I also like to take photos of the pets each day or so to send to their owners to keep them updated and ensure their well-being. I am able to check on pets before and after work, as well as during lunch breaks. If/when working from home, I can stay at the house with the pets throughout the day. In the evenings and weekends while pet sitting, I take the dog(s) for a walk and then spend time playing and hanging out with them in the backyard and/or around the house. When pet sitting at client’s homes, I make sure the pets are always nearby or at least in view. I routinely let dogs out into the backyard for exercise and potty breaks as needed, and ensure all gates are closed/locked to keep them safe. I also regularly check their bowls so that they always have access to fresh water and are fed on their usual schedule.
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Macatawa
Amanda has done an outstanding job with our cats, Jake and Karl. They love her! This time she really went above and beyond as both cats needed medication. She handles their care cheerfully with love. I’m able to leave home with full confidence that Amanda will take great care of them.

Caroline was awesome! It was our first time leaving our baby, and was constantly missing our baby, but Caroline constantly communicated to us and gave us peace of mind. She took extra effort to care for our baby and make sure she’s not too overwhelmed, everything we asked Caroline, she did! Though we wouldn’t want to leave our baby Eos again for a long vacation, we know exactly who we want to care and feed our baby again. Thank you Caroline :)

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
