Zoe was great. I have two tiny chihuahuas who both have issues. She was patient with them and won them over. I came home to happy pups. Will hire Zoe again!

Lyla did a great job: she was willing to come meet the pups beforehand, showed up on time to house/dog sit, sent photos and updates, and left the house and dogs clean and happy. We hope to use Lyla for future dog care needs and highly recommend her to others.

Roree was amazing in her care for Ruby. She touched base with me every morning to let me know that Ruby was eating well and doing great taking her medications. As an owner with a special needs dog (illness and personality) Roree was so patient getting to know Ruby and allowing her the time and space to be comfortable. It was such a relief to be able to go on vacation and know that Ruby was in good hands and being taken care of with a level of care and dedication that is hard to find! Thank you Roree!!

About: I've had cats and dogs my whole life, have been feeding stray cats in my neighborhood for years, and I've been pet-sitting for the past 6 years! I've watched all kinds of animals, including big and small dogs, friendly and scaredy-cats, a dog who wore diapers, and a blind dog. My animal care experience also includes chickens, goats, cows, and bearded dragons! I've never been one to shy away from any animal, no matter what its needs are. I'm currently on summer break from college, so I'm free all day to watch your pets! Call on me early in the morning, late at night, or anytime in between, and I'll be available. I am dedicated to understanding each pet's particular needs so I can provide quality care and companionship for them. I'm also committed to keeping your home clean, and I'm not scared of cleaning up any messes your animals may make. I'm easy to reach by phone, so you don't need to worry about contacting me for any reason.

We cannot say enough good stuff about Jan and Paul! Paul stayed at our home and watched our 3 small dogs for a week. One of our dogs has special needs due to health issues and Paul was willing to work with us on a new health diagnosis and administer insulin. Another one of our dogs is highly anxious and Paul even had him eating out of his hand which took 6 months for my husband to do. We got daily updates with photos and video. Paul even chopped up a small tree that fell due to snow and wind and sharpened our knives lol. Basically went above and beyond what would be expected and we cannot thank them enough.

Lilly did an exceptional job with our dogs, and with very short notice. Our dogs are a little high maintenance, and need a lot of exercise and attention so coming home to happy and content dogs was awesome! We can’t thank you enough, everything looks great, and Thor and Blue are happy! If you’re looking for a responsible dog sitter, Lilly is it! She’s kind, trustworthy and an animal lover! Thanks again, Lilly 🥳

Caitlin stayed for an extended weekend with our 4 month old kitten and was absolutely amazing! I was nervous about leaving our boy for the first time and Caitlin made the whole process so comfortable and reassuring-she met him before we left, and provided a ton of detail about what to expect. It’s very clear that Caitlin is passionate about animals and is incredibly knowledgeable, she went out of her way to provide really helpful new food and litter recommendations and was willing to test things out for us under her care. She was very responsive and respectful of our requests and care for our home as well. 10/10, would absolutely recommend and rebook with Caitlin any time!

We are grateful for Amy's stellar care of our big girl, in our home, while we were away. The active lifestyle Amy leads was just the spirit-lifter needed for our separation-anxiety ridden dog, Murphy Quinn. Amy was wonderful about sending texts & pictures of their activities or downtime. From those communications we were regularly updated & able to share in their enjoyment of: *morning & evening walks before Amy left & after returning from her other job, *cuddly sleep-ins on the weekend before leaving for her social activities & *exciting introduction to another new person (Amy's approved visitor/ fiancé) for cozy weekend dinners in. On top of all that, Amy spruced up our home before she left it & even left some extra sweet touches (flowers & card) for our return. We are elated that our overwhelming fur-baby was so well loved in our absence. Thank you Amy!!

About: I have always loved dogs. I grew up with a black lab (age 5-18), and when I was in high school I frequently watched dogs and cats in a pet sitting capacity. Pet sitting for neighbors and friends was my first job, and as soon as I got my drivers license, I expanded my pet sitting clientele. As an adult, my husband and I had a rescue dog (Pitt/lab mix) who was our fur baby. When we adopted her, she had separation anxiety and resource guarding issues. We worked with a trainer to help her overcome those issues, and were grateful for the wonderful years we enjoyed with her. Unfortunately, she died in early 2025. While we are not in a position to have our own dog right now, we would love to continue to snuggle and support local dogs through pet sitting. We do have a toddler at home. She loves dogs and we would never leave her unattended with any animal. While we will be careful to ensure any dogs in our care are set up for success by being separated from our toddler with baby gates, etc., we are only able to host dogs who are comfortable around small children. I am a middle school teacher, so I have full-time availability during school breaks and the summer. I am also available to drop in before and/or after my work, depending on the location. My husband, Cristopher, works from home and loves having a dog as his co-worker to be let out on demand. As dog owners, we never left our own dog home alone for more than 4-5 hours, and we will only accept a boarding booking if our schedule allows the same time commitment to your dog. We treat all dogs like they are our own. As a former pet parent, I know that I can never replace you, but I will do everything I can to make sure your dog feels comfortable and safe in my care. We have a fenced yard with no animals in our home (except for the occasional wild bunny). Our yard has plenty of space for dogs to run around and play.

Annemarie did a wonderful job taking care of my two pups, cat, and house while I was gone on a long trip. She kept me updated with messages/texts and photos so I could see my fur babies. The house was clean when I returned and she even helped figure out a problem with my alarm system while I was gone! Highly recommend and would hire again!

Salem house sat with our very shy two-year old kitty Sophie for five days over the Thanksgiving holiday. We know how fortunate we were to find such a patient and experienced caregiver. It’s not easy to wait for a scared feline to make the first moves. Sophie did well, and the house was neat and tidy on our return. Thank you so much Salem! We will have you back again soon!

FAQs for House Sitting - Livingston

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Livingston on Rover is $48.84 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 4,354 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Livingston. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Livingston walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Livingston maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Livingston choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Livingston. On Rover:

  • 96% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
