Highly Recommend Madeline! We had such a wonderful experience with Madeline! This was our first time ever using a pet sitter, so we were understandably a little nervous—especially because our dog can be somewhat challenging. Madeline was absolutely fantastic from start to finish and immediately put us at ease. She was incredibly timely, responsible, and attentive. We really appreciated the updates she sent throughout the overnight stay—they were just the right amount and gave us peace of mind knowing everything was going well. The photos she shared were an especially nice touch, and we loved being able to see our dog happy and comfortable while we were away. Madeline handled everything so professionally and clearly has a genuine love and understanding of animals. By the time we returned, we felt completely confident that our dog had been well cared for. We couldn’t have asked for a better first experience with a pet sitter. Madeline was wonderful, and we would absolutely trust her with our dog again. Highly, highly recommend!

Brooklyn did a fantastic job watching our two morkies over a weekend period. We especially appreciated her proactive style of communication, her calm when dealing with any issues, and of course all the pictures of our pups throughout the day while we were away. Would definitely recommend her services and book with her again. Thanks Brooklyn!

About: Hi to all the fur owners! I've grown up with animals all my life, not just cats and dogs, but many different kinds and love them all! Our dogs have passed and so getting to be around others is so nice! I am safe, respectful, reliable, and responsible. I follow detailed instructions and will take wonderful care! I have had experience with senior dogs/cats, special needs dogs, animals that need medication and small/large breeds! Also have had personal training with puppies! I have many years day sitting and overnight with animals prior to signing up here on Rover as I'm also on other apps! Love walking and being of service to them! I hope you take me into consideration, and I get a chance to spend time with your pet or pets! My schedule is very flexible as I work part time on other gig apps and resell! Pet caregiving can be part time or full time depending on the week! I follow detailed instructions give lots of updates and ask many questions so I am prepared for everything! I am professional and take caregiving another being very seriously! Playtime, meds, food, hydration and walks all are very important! Plus all the cuddles if that's what your pet likes! I respect boundaries and your pet will always show tell me theirs!

Izzy was amazing!! She was on time, communicated so well (we love all the updates and photos), took great care of our cedar boy. He can be shy with walks with new people but she gave him lots of treats and patience and he ended up walking with her multiple times during her stay! We can’t wait to book her again :)

I don’t even know where to begin. My husband and I rarely go on trips together. We have three dogs, they are all different ages with different care levels, and finding someone to care for them has always been challenging. Our family planned to go on an Alaskan cruise, and we decided to join them. We reached out to Karen and she was SO responsive. She got back to us quickly and agreed to do a meet and greet. Our dogs LOVED her immediately. We have a 6 year old street dog whom we rescued from Mexico. He is very sweet but is slow to warm up to people. Within a few minutes of Karen being at the house he was begging her for pets. It was decided right then that Karen would be watching our fur babies. Fast forward a few weeks and we are all lined up and ready to go on our trip. We’ve done a pack walk with Karen and have walked her through their daily needs. Karen is very thorough and wants as much information about your pets as she can get. To make sure everyone was good to go, my husband and I took our senior dog to the vet to get her arthritis shot. We wanted to make sure she would be comfortable while we were gone. At the vet appointment, we got heartbreaking news. Our veterinarian had a difficult and honest conversation with us about our dog’s health and quality of life. Our senior was 19 years old and had started experiencing some cogitative decline and mobility issues. After several long discussions and uncertainty about our pup’s health while we would be gone, we decided it was time to allow our sweet baby to cross the rainbow bridge. We were devastated and, as you could imagine, were experiencing some anxiety and uncertainty about leaving the other two dogs. When we explained to Karen what happened, she provided so much comfort and security. She let us know that there wasn’t any pressure to go on the trip and assured us that if we did, she would make sure our dogs were well loved on. We ended up going to Alaska. During our trip, Karen sent us photos and videos, and made sure to give us daily updates. If we request additional photos or videos, she always sent them no questions asked. She went out of her way to make us feel at ease, and it really helped give us the space and peace of mind to process everything that happened. Having Karen care for our fur babies not only allowed us to go on a family trip, it’s also allowed us to grieve our loss without having to carry the stress of the day-to-day and making sure the other dogs were taken care of. It goes without saying, but we will definitely book with Karen again. If you’re considering hiring Karen for your pets, I highly recommend it. You will be a so happy you did. Thank you Karen. We truly appreciate you, and the love and care you extend to Doodle and Wendi while we were gone.

Anthea is remarkable! As a dog trainer, I am so very picky and needy. I had never left my rescue pup overnight, and had to go away for 4 days. Anthea worked with my craziness, alleviated my neediness, and honestly just gave me the peace of mind I needed to truly enjoy my vacation! I didn't make it easy. I had multiple animals, multiple people coming to the house while I was away, and a list of needs for me to feel safe and comfortable. She handled it all like a boss and when I got home my house was so calm and clean!

There is no way to accurately describe how amazing Susana was with our dogs! From moments into the "meet & greet", through the moment she left, I had 100% peace about leaving our dogs in her care. One of our girls deals with fear/anxiety with new people. She took to Susana in the meet & greet like I've never seen! Susana communicated every day with updates & photos, and throughout the whole process she responded quickly when I would reach out to her. Her experience shows! She easily grasped all the complexities of our dogs feeding needs (each are different) and the medications that needed to be done at certain times. She even sent a photo of our scaredy-dog licking her! Our home was left in such good condition that you'd never know someone had stayed there. I can't recommend Susana enough! Thank you for not only calming the anxiety of our dogs, but the anxiety of this human!

Maddie was wonderful! She took exceptional care of my two rescue dogs that, after the first morning after I had to leave on a trip, got into a fight over a bone and she went into action taking care of both of them and making sure they had what they needed from our veterinarian. She was in constant communication with me and sending me pictures and updates on their progress and how things are going. It was the first time something like this had happened and I was so grateful she was the one who was there to take care of them. I highly recommend her for any and all your pets! She is truly awesome! If I could give her higher than five stars I would!

FAQs for House Sitting - Ireland

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Ireland on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 4,301 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Ireland. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Ireland walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Ireland maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Ireland choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Ireland. On Rover:

  • 96% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
