“We interviewed several people to house sit and watch our.pets. We chose Sarah to house sit for our 2 adult German shepherds. Most people are intimidated by them. They absolutely love her and she is so good with them. We have had Sarah for almost 1 year, and she has not let us down.”

“We couldn’t have asked for a better overnight sitter than Evelyn. She took wonderful care of our fur babies while we were away, and it was clear from the moment we walked in they’d been well loved. She was attentive and responsive throughout the stay, always quick to answer messages and kept us updated. We came home to a tidy house and 3 relaxed pets. Thank you Evelyn!”

“McAllen did an amazing job! A little background—he was our house sitter while we were away, and we honestly couldn’t be happier. We have two dogs and five cats, so it’s no small task, but he took great care of all of them. We came back to a clean house and, most importantly, happy animals. He wasn’t one of those sitters who just pops in to let them out and leave. He actually spent real time with them and stayed in the home for a couple of hours to keep them company, which we truly appreciated. You can tell he genuinely cares about the animals and the work he does. We’re very grateful for him and will definitely be rebooking in the future. Much appreciation all around!”

“Erika is a reliable sitter that really connects with my 2 Irish Setters girls. She has great instincts in how to deal with what they’re thinking and how they’re behaving. Claire wasn’t feeling good and Erika cared for her and kept me informed with texts and photos. She’s cared for my girls 4 days this week and I understand why she’s rated as a Star Sitter❣️”

“Outstanding sitter! She took exceptional care of our dogs and treated them like her own. We were especially grateful for how calmly and confidently she handled Pearl during a low blood sugar episode — it gave us total peace of mind while we were away. She went above and beyond in every way. We came home to happy pups and would absolutely book with her again. Highly recommend!”

“Sydney was great! Very friendly and willing to do all the tiny things our little guys needed! She sent us pictures and kept us updated on how they were doing as this was their first time with a sitter. We would highly recommend her for anyone and hope to use her services again. I'd rate higher if I could.”

“My wife and I really adore Angela. She is extremely professional and caring towards our boys. We don’t look at them as pets, they are family members and this is exactly how Angela treated them. We were able to go away with the peace of mind that our boys and home were looked after and in good hands. Thank you Angela and we look forward to seeing you again. Kate & Derek”

About: Animals have always been at the center of my life. I grew up on a farm, caring for dogs, cats, goats, sheep, and chickens, so reading animal behavior, staying calm under pressure and knowing when somethings off comes naturally to me. Over the years, I’ve trained my own dogs, worked with rescue animals, and volunteered with KARE, where I help rehabilitate, both wild and domestic animals. That experience has taught me how to handle pets of all temperament and backgrounds, including those who were shy, anxious, or still learning the ropes. I personally cared for dogs, cats, ferrets, chinchillas, sugar, gliders, hedgehogs, snakes, fish, turtles, parrots, and a wide variety of reptiles, so chances are, I’ve worked with a pet like yours before! I bring patience and consistency to every interaction, whether it’s a quick drop in or a longer house sit. What sets me apart is that I don’t just love animals, I understand them. Your pet isn’t just a booking to me, they’re a living creature who deserves calm, attentive care from someone who genuinely knows what they’re doing. i’m generally available weekday mornings, weekday evenings, and weekends. My schedule varies week to week, so I keep my calendar updated in real time. If you don’t see any availability that works, feel free to reach out as my schedule sometimes opens up with short notice! when I’m in your home, my priority is keeping your pet safe and as close to their normal routine as possible. I follow your KARE instructions closely, do a quick safety check on arrival, and reach out immediately if anything seems off. You’ll get photo updates every visit so you can see your pet is happy and well cared for.
“I can't recommend Jed highly enough! He truly saved the day by accepting my booking at the very last minute. He was incredibly accommodating, friendly, and professional. Most importantly, Mazi adored him. I will definitely be booking with him again!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Lily Lake
We had an absolutely wonderful experience having Kali stay with our dogs over the 4th of July weekend! She came by the house before our trip to meet our dogs, learn their routine, and get familiar with our home. Throughout the weekend she was an excellent communicator, sending regular updates and photos that gave us complete peace of mind. When we got home, the house was spotless, our dogs were happy and relaxed, and she even surprised us with the sweetest painted portraits of each pup. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and will definitely be using her again. We highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and trustworthy dog and house sitter!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Lily Lake walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Lily Lake maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Lily Lake choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
