About: I’ve been caring for animals for years and love getting to know each pet’s unique personality. I’ve fostered 8 cats and 1 dog to date, helping them adjust to new environments and getting them ready for their forever home. I also have two cats of my own and two family cats, so I understand the care, attention, and patience they need. I’m also the go to pet sitter for my friends whenever they’re away. I’m also a certified sitter through Southeastern Guide Dogs, where I’ve cared for and trained puppies and service dogs in training. This has really shown me how to work with dogs of all ages, personalities, and energy levels. I know every pet is unique and I really take the time to understand their needs and personality. I want to make sure your pet is comfortable and cared for, giving you peace of mind and lots of pictures while you’re away! I recently graduated, so I currently have a very flexible schedule that allows me to dedicate my time to caring for pets. Between pet sitting and other flexible work, my routine revolves around the pets I’m caring for, not the other way around. This means I have plenty of availability for drop-in visits, walks, overnight stays, and can easily adapt to your pet’s normal routine! As of right now, I am only able to provide care in my client’s home so pets can stay where they’re most comfortable, but also to ensure that my own cats, who are nervous around other pets, remain comfortable. When caring for your pet, I treat both your home and your baby with the same respect and attention I do my own. I carefully following feeding schedule, medication instructions, walking routines, and any other care preferences you provide. I understand that every pet has different needs, and I take the time to learn their personality, comfort level, and routine so they feel safe while you’re away. Safety really is my number one priority. I’ll make sure doors, gates, windows, and any other areas are secure. I’ll be sure to keep your pet in approved areas, look out for any changes in behavior or health, and send lots and lots of pictures and videos!
“Ryan was great! She stayed with our "pups" (as she cutely called them) for almost a week. Right from the start she sent texts, photos, and a sense that all was under control. Meeting her before the stay both her experience as a student working towards going to vet school and as a horse owner sealed the deal. We'd happily use her again.”

“Kelly was a great communicator. Our dogs loved getting to know her. She was responsible with giving one of our dogs medication and following our routine. We wil be using her again for dog sitting needs.”

“I can always trust Rita. I’ve had issues in the past with sitters ensuring that they wouldn’t leave my dog alone for more than 3 hours but have ended up leaving him for 6. Rita, on the other hand, sticks to her word and goes to extra lengths to ensure my dog is comfortable at home. She’s my go to sitter for house sitting, dog sitting, and dog walking. Highly recommend her to folks who need special care for their fur babies.”

About: I have owned dogs, cats, fish, lizards, and even frogs and have adored them all. My experience with dogs spans many breeds from Shar Pei to Labradoodles and each of them have their own unique needs which I am more than happy to meet. I currently work at Capital Health on Mondays and Wednesdays from 8 am until 4:30 pm. I am available all hours otherwise and am flexible with my scheduling. I have a senior dog that recently turned 14. She has a lot of special healthcare needs such as requiring help when going up and down stairs and only being able to eat special meals. She has been in my care since she was a puppy and required many hours of play and higher supervision. I am able to care for dogs of all ages and I’m more than happy to do so.

About: Hi! I’m an empty nester with a lifelong love for dogs. I’ve owned and cared for dogs for as long as I can remember, and over the years I’ve also helped family and friends by pet sitting for their furry family members. I understand how important it is to have someone trustworthy, patient, and caring looking after your pet, and I treat every dog like they’re part of my own family. My goal is always to make pets feel safe, loved, and comfortable while you’re away. As a retired mom and lifelong pet lover, I have the time, patience, and flexibility to give your pet the attention and care they deserve. I’ve spent years caring for pets of my own and helping family and friends with their pets, so I understand how important it is to know your furry family member is safe, happy, and loved while you’re away. I’ll treat your pet like one of my own and make sure they feel comfortable, cared for, and well loved. I understand how important it is for pets to feel safe and comfortable in their own home while you’re away. As a lifelong pet lover, I will care for your pets with the same love, patience, and attention I give my own. Whether it’s walks, playtime, feeding, or just extra cuddles and companionship, I’ll make sure your pets feel happy, relaxed, and well cared for in the comfort of their familiar surroundings.
About: I’ve dogsat for friends and coworkers many times before! I love their company, I think each dog has their own interesting personality so I’m excited to meet yours! I work M-F 9-4 but am free to walk your pup anytime after that and or dog-sit as needed! I’m usually at a park getting my steps in anyways, so I’d love to bring your dog with me next time! I can’t dog-sit in my new apartment unfortunately but I will gladly watch them at your house as needed! Please let me know! Thanks!

“Liz was amazing with Zoey! She was able to come to stay at our place rather last minute while we were away for 3 nights. She sent pictures and we came home to a happy pup and some lovely homemade bread!! Would love to have Liz come take care of our girl again :)”

“Boryana took amazing care of our senior pitbull, Brady. She was very patient with his quirks and eccentricities (e.g. he has acquired a habit of lying down for rests mid-walk). He often seems a little out of sorts after we come back from a long trip, but this time he was very relaxed and happy. Communication was top notch and our house was left in perfect condition. We can't recommend Boryana highly enough, and hope she'll be available to take care of Brady again in the future!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Lawrence
Rita was absolutely wonderful with our Goldie. She gave her so much love, attention, and special care while we were away, and it meant the world to us. Goldie clearly adored her, and knowing she was so happy and well cared for gave us complete peace of mind for 17 days! We would trust Rita again in a heartbeat and highly recommend her to anyone looking for an exceptional pet sitter. Thank you, Rita! We gave Rita a tip when we got home. Ellen & Les L.

We had an amazing experience with Abigail while we were away this week! She stayed in our home and took exceptional care of our two dogs. Everything from her punctuality and communication to her attentiveness exceeded our expectations. She sent multiple updates and photos every day, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were traveling. It was clear from every picture that our pups were happy, comfortable, and completely spoiled with love and attention. Coming home to two relaxed, happy dogs was the best feeling. We couldn’t have asked for a better pet sitter and are already looking forward to having Abigail care for our pups again in August. We highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone trustworthy, caring, and dependable!

Emma recently watched my two basset hounds in my home for 3 days & 3 nights. She couldn’t have done a better job. She sent regular updates and photos via text and reassured me consistently that they were content, safe and cuddled! I look forward to booking Emma again 😊 I highly recommend her if you are looking for drop ins and also overnight sitting.

Mirella is the most amazing dog sitter we have ever had! She kept us updated all week and was amazingly flexible when our travel plans were disrupted due to the blizzard. My house was even neater when we returned than when we left. I would love to keep her a secret, but that wouldn’t be fair to her :).

Lauren did an amazing job watching our dog and cat while we were away for a 7-day trip! By the middle of the trip she had earned cuddles from both animals, showing how much they trusted her and how safe they felt in her care. She also brought in mail and packages for us and reset the apartment for our arrival without being asked! We would absolutely call on Lauren again for future trips. Thank you, Lauren!

Jenna cared for our dog while we were away several days. We came home to a happy dog and a clean home. . Jenna communicated regularly and was responsive to my communication. She also was helped take care of things around the house as they came up. I would absolutely reach out again when we need someone to take care of Maple. 😊

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Lawrence walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Lawrence maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Lawrence choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Lawrence. On Rover:
- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
