About: I have taken care of dogs and cats for the past couple years. I have taken care of both family and friends dogs as well as neighbors from word of mouth. I am currently working remotely part time from home so I am generally pretty free to dog sit or pop in to feed any pets during the day. I can't take care of any pets in my home, but can go to your home and either dog sit from there or walk your dog.
“It was such a delight to work with Vee! From our first interactions and meet-up to the final day of her stay with our dog in our home, it was clear that Vee is a pro and thinks of every single detail. She watched our dog during our longest trip so far, and we felt so comfortable knowing that she was keeping our dog safe and happy! She sent regular updates and pics so that we didn’t worry for a second. It was clear our dog was so loved with Vee and we will absolutely reach out again when we are traveling!”

About: I’ve grown up around dogs my whole life, including two Labrador Retrievers named Maverick and Goose, and a Beagle that I cared for over 10 years, so I’m very comfortable with daily routines, exercise, and understanding different personalities. I’ve also done several overnight house-sitting and dog care jobs, working with a wide range of breeds, from small dogs like pugs to larger, high-energy dogs like huskies. I’ve always had a genuine love for animals and caring for them. The first animal I really fell in love with was a manatee when I was about 5 years old living in Florida, and that kind of stuck with me. My time as a kid was spent at the beach boogie boarding out into the ocean hoping a dolphin would find me and become my friend. Growing up, I loved going to the aquarium and the zoo to learn about different animals, and I’ve always been especially drawn to red pandas and stingrays. That curiosity and appreciation carries over into how I care for pets—I really enjoy getting to know each animal’s personality and making sure they feel safe and happy. In addition, I have a lot of hands-on caregiving experience through taking care of my brother who has special needs, as well as working with special needs youth. That’s taught me to be patient, attentive, and very in tune with individual needs, which I bring into how I care for animals as well. Pet care honestly fits into my routine really naturally because it’s something I genuinely enjoy and look forward to. I have a part-time job in the mornings and some evenings, so I have a lot of flexibility during the day to spend quality time with dogs—whether that’s going on long walks, stopping by for visits, or just hanging out and keeping them company. I grew up with dogs and took care of my Beagle for 10 years, so I’m very used to building my day around their needs. It doesn’t feel like a task to me—it’s something I love doing. Being around dogs, getting outside, and making sure they’re happy and cared for is something I naturally make time for every day. I focus on making pets feel comfortable, safe, and at ease by sticking closely to their normal routine. I know how important consistency is, so I follow feeding schedules, walk times, and any specific instructions carefully. When I’m in a client’s home, I’m very respectful of their space and make sure their dog is always supervised and within my sight. I pay attention to their behavior and energy so I can respond to what they need, whether that’s a long walk, playtime, or just relaxing together so they don’t feel alone. If I’m caring for a pet in my own home, I create a calm, safe environment where they get plenty of attention, exercise, and downtime. I really just try to treat every dog like my own and make sure they feel happy and cared for the whole time.
“Marissa was wonderful. I was lucky enough to get her on very short notice to do in-house overnight visits with my cat. Marissa was professional, communicative, and generally gave me great peace of mind while I was away I will definitely be rebooking the next time I’m going out of town!”

“Boryana took amazing care of our senior pitbull, Brady. She was very patient with his quirks and eccentricities (e.g. he has acquired a habit of lying down for rests mid-walk). He often seems a little out of sorts after we come back from a long trip, but this time he was very relaxed and happy. Communication was top notch and our house was left in perfect condition. We can't recommend Boryana highly enough, and hope she'll be available to take care of Brady again in the future!”

About: Experienced with both large and small dogs, as well as senior dogs. My last dog was a husky, so I’m no stranger to dogs with high exercise needs as well! Looking forward to helping your family (both furry and otherwise!) this summer. ***From 8/14 - 8/31 I have open availability! I have left my general availability outlined below, but I will be available all day/night Monday-Sunday for the next two weeks.*** General Availability: I currently work part time Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. I can be very flexible to meet your needs Thursday-Sunday, and am available for early morning and/or late evening care Monday-Wednesday. I am currently unable to care for pets in my own home, but am happy to feed, walk, play with, or just keep an eye on your pet in your home.
“Simply put, Joey was outstanding, both with his care of Pablo as well as management of our home while staying here. As a person, he’s a young man of high integrity who is kind, thoughtful, and detail oriented! He loves dogs; kept me posted with text and pics; and maintains a positive and loving temperament. He exceeded my expectations and would give him my highest recommendation!”

About: Diagnosed with allergies in childhood, I didn’t have pets until in my 20s, when I picked a week-old kitten from a litter & raised him. Thelonious used to walk between my shoulders as I moved around the house, and slept in my bed. Friends told me he behaved more like a dog than a cat—very affectionate. We were very close. His death broke my heart & I still miss him. Seven years ago, I did cat-sitting for a friend whose apartment in NYC I stayed in for a summer while working nearby on Varick Street. He was a very easygoing cat. Years later, my stepson left his dogs at our house & I was their primary minder. I fed, walked & played with them every day. Although I’d been around dogs a lot growing up, it’s one thing to be around them & another to be responsible for them & develop relationships with them. Each of the dogs had a very distinct personality, and I found them fascinating. Through those & other experiences with friends’ pets, I’ve found that I’m able to make connections with animals that go beyond words. I never would have imagined such a thing in childhood. These days I do house sitting & drop-ins for clients in Monmouth & Mercer Counties. I’m tending to pets with a wide range of needs & dispositions, and love I give is more than equaled by the love I receive from them. I’m truly humbled & in awe. Professionally, I managed desktop publishing & automated publishing for a Fortune 500 financial firm for 20 years. So I have a long track record of responsibility & discipline. That combination of sensitivity & responsibility are what I bring to pet sitting. I only accept clients living within a 30-minute drive from my home, and my routines at home are easily adaptable to meet my clients’ needs. That means my highly flexible schedule allows me to provide your cat with the consistent time, routine, and attention they deserve while you are gone. I don’t rush my check-ins; I stay the full duration to ensure your cat gets plenty of physical play and mental stimulation. Because my hours are highly adaptable, I can drop in at the exact times your cat expects breakfast, dinner, or treats. I’m happy to take photos during my stay to enable you as the pet owner to feel secure about your pet’s care in your absence. I like to play with & talk to pets, and try to adhere to their normal routines, so they, too, feel comfortable in your absence.
“Sharyn went 1000% above and beyond for our Jace ! She was patient, kind, understanding and empathetic with our scarred little pup. I was very nervous leaving him at home while we went on vacation but Sharyn eased my mind and treated jace with an overwhelming amount of care. I cant say enough amazing things about her !”

“Yasmine was absolutely incredible and I highly recommend! My girls aren't too difficult but they are certainly particular and Yasmine killed it. She stayed at my place for a week and when I returned, it looked exactly as I had left it. I've finally come home from a trip and genuinely felt like my girls were taken care of.”

About: I’ve loved dogs my whole life. I now have an amazing female golden retriever who is very docile and sweet with all dogs (as long as they are not aggressive with her). She is truly awesome-Just like your guy or girl! We love having animals in our home, playing, walking and hanging out. I have been hosting dogs in my home for over a year now. I’m a mom who is home so I have a flexible schedule. Ideally I’m looking to host a dog 2-5 days a week during the day/early evening. Leave your pet with me and guarantee they will be happy, well taken care of and having lots of fun! My home is a friendly, clutter free, safe and comfortable environment. We have a fenced in yard for potty breaks in between our walks and we have a lot of fun playing and relaxing in the house

“Joanne was a delight to work with and my pet Duke absolutely adored her! As a first time Rover user having someone watch our pet overnight, I didn’t know what to expect but Joanne made it so easy. I would highly recommend Joanne and her pet sitting services. She was reliable, dependable, treated my pet like her own, and also treated my home like her own. I will definitely be asking Joanne to watch Duke again!”

Kyra was fantastic! I contacted her last minute after a cancellation and she answered promptly and was flexible about scheduling a meeting quickly. She was patient with getting to know my dog, who is wary of new people, but quickly made friends and took excellent care of her. I felt like my dog was in very capable hands and I didn't have to worry while I was gone. She was communicative and left my house spotless. Thanks Kyra! I will definitely book again.

Jill was outstanding with taking care of our fur children while we were away for ten days. She was able to handle an Australian Cattle Dog with anxiety issues and three Orange Furballs without breaking a sweat. Nightly medication for one, teeth brushing for another with dental issues - she handled it all. Jill sent us daily photos and updates with how everyone was doing. We were able to relax and enjoy our vacation knowing our guys were in good hands. We can not recommend Jill highly enough, and definitely look forward to working with her again.
Emma recently watched my two basset hounds in my home for 3 days & 3 nights. She couldn’t have done a better job. She sent regular updates and photos via text and reassured me consistently that they were content, safe and cuddled! I look forward to booking Emma again 😊 I highly recommend her if you are looking for drop ins and also overnight sitting.

Alisha is a delight! When she came to meet my cat and dog they immediately liked her and her warm energy. I felt instantly comfortable allowing Alisha into our home for her stay. She sent pictures everyday and small check-in notes, and I could tell she really cares about our pets and their wellbeing. I felt confident that our pets were in good hands, as Alisha is responsive, punctual, responsible, and very kind. I would highly recommend her to anyone!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Plainsboro Center walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Plainsboro Center maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Plainsboro Center choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Plainsboro Center. On Rover:
- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 99% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
