About: I have a reliable track record of watching pets for family and friends, including watching dogs who require daily exercise and attention. I love cats and know how important it is that owners have peace of mind when leaving their animals for a vacation! I am currently working part time and hoping to find some local pet-sitting gigs! I am available for daily and drop in visits and find most people in South Lake Tahoe have at least one pet, including myself, and I am available to help give care as needed. I am currently available for visits to your home for pet watching duties as needed while you are away. I am detail-oriented, very reliable, and care that your animals are given thorough attention :)

About: I have taken care of many different dogs and cats over the years and always go above and beyond to make them and their parents happy. I have worked with small and large dogs, one to three dogs at once, old and puppies. I love animals so much and watching them is always the best part of my day! I have my own business so I am able to leave and walk a dog whenever I need to! When doing doggy day care or boarding I will often bring the pup with me to the gallery so it can hang out. I am very attentive and any time I am walking a dog I make sure to be very aware of our surroundings. Even when I let them out in a backyard I make sure to keep an eye on them. I always make sure everything is okay before I leave (checking there’s no food out, making sure they have enough water, triple checking there’s door is closed and locked!)

About: I’ve grown up surrounded by dogs my entire life, which means caring for four-legged family members is second nature to me. As my family and friend’s resident dog sitter, I have hands on experience with pups of all shapes, sizes, and personalities from high energy giants to tiny couch potatoes. I am passionate about keeping dogs active and healthy, so you can count on me to provide plenty of outdoor time and engaging walks. I look forward to meeting your furry friend and providing them with a safe, fun, and loving environment while you're away! As a full-time remote worker, my schedule is highly flexible! Pet care fits seamlessly into my day, allowing me to offer reliable windows for walks and drop-ins. My 'portable' office also makes me a great fit for house sitting, as I can work right from your home and keep your pet company. Weekends are equally open and flexible for whatever your pet needs! I believe the best environment for a pet is one that closely mirrors their usual routine. Whether I am house sitting or dropping in, I strictly follow your specific guidelines for feeding and house rules. During house sittings and drop-ins, I respect your home as if it were my own—keeping things clean, secure, and locked up. When we are out on walks, your dog will always be kept on a secure, standard leash, and I maintain a strict 'no greeting' policy with unfamiliar dogs to prevent any unpredictable interactions. I am deeply observant of body language to ensure your pet is happy, comfortable, and never stressed. I also believe that communication builds trust, so you can always expect timely photo updates and detailed Rover cards after every visit!

About: I live in a private home with a large, fully fenced-in yard off of Ski Run Blvd with 4 female rescues. I have had and cared for dogs (large and small) as well as cats for 13 years and am loving, patient, and responsible. I love to get outside for runs down to the beach or to go hiking in the area, and try to bring at least one dog with me on every adventure. I have raised both puppies and cared for elderly dogs, including my own Golden Retriever Stewie who sadly passed away two years ago at the age of 12. I look forward to meeting and caring for your furry family members as well as I do my own! My schedule varies, but I keep it up to date in the app and can be flexible if anything comes up or if needs change. I have a fully fenced in, private backyard off of a quiet street that is perfect for lots of running around with my 3 dogs, who are incredibly friendly and get along with dogs of all ages and sizes (and are great at tiring out puppies!). My dogs are crate trained and usually are in their crates at night and when I am away for more than a couple hours, and I would be happy to do the same or whatever is preferred for yours.

About: What I would say sets me apart from other walkers/sitters, is my care and attention to each dog’s unique needs. I have experience with both puppies and senior dogs, and adjust my care style accordingly. I have always had a passion for animals, and making sure every pet feels safe, happy, and well cared for. I’m currently working part-time, so my schedule is extremely flexible! I am available almost everyday, all day to care for your pups! I just recently moved up to South Lake for college and am living in the dorms, so I’m trying to save up some extra money doing what I love! On walks, I focus on keeping pets safe, comfortable, and happy. I always stay alert to surroundings, and avoid busy or unsafe areas. I always make sure to bring water on longer walks, watch for signs of tiredness or overheating, and give them time to sniff and explore. I also reinforce good leash behavior with gentle guidance and positive encouragement. Each walk is a mix of exercise, care, and fun.

About: Hello! My name is Alora, and I’ve been an animal lover my whole life. I’ve spent the past year working as a vet tech at a local veterinary hospital, so I’m very comfortable around dogs and cats. If your animal is every hurt or sick, I am qualified to take care, and watch over them. I’m used exercising, cleaning up after, and giving medications to animals. I’m also a dog mom to a black and white Mutt named Ray. As far as exercising your pet, it can range from short or long walks, trail walks, runs, or playing with toys, depending on what they need/like. House sitting will consist of me keeping your pet company, feeding, and all the exercise they need. If needed I can spend the night, or if you prefer I can come back in the morning. I am currently a bartender so I can be available to take your animals out during the day while you work! I love to get outside and hike, bike, and go to the beach, so if you have an adventurous dog I can cater to its needs. I have a fenced in back yard that your dog can run and play in, as well as a few Roomate’s who love dogs as well.

About: Hi, I’m AJ! I’ve been around animals my entire life and have years of hands-on experience caring for dogs of all kinds. I previously ran my own dog-sitting and walking business and also worked with Rover in Europe, caring for many repeat clients. (Unfortunately, those reviews don’t transfer here—but you can check out my photos to see the dogs I’ve worked with!) Your dog will get lots of attention, exercise, and love while staying with me. We go on daily walks, explore trails, and spend plenty of time outdoors—including trips to the beach when possible. I have a comfortable, pet-friendly home with a patio where dogs can relax and feel at ease. I’m experienced with administering medication, handling different energy levels, and basic training, so your dog will be in capable hands. I treat every dog like my own and make sure they feel safe, happy, and cared for at all times. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine. I structure my days around walks, playtime, and feeding, so your pet always gets consistent attention. I love getting outside, so daily walks and fresh air are a big part of my lifestyle. Whether it’s early morning walks, midday drop-ins, or evening cuddles, I can easily adjust to fit your pet’s needs. Your pet’s safety and comfort always come first. When caring for pets in my home, I provide a clean, pet-friendly environment where they’ll get plenty of attention, exercise, and affection. I keep a close eye on them at all times and make sure they feel safe, relaxed, and loved. When I’m caring for pets in your home, I treat your space with the same respect I would my own. I follow your instructions carefully, keep to your pet’s normal routine, and send regular updates so you can feel at ease while you’re away. Whether in your home or mine, my priority is building trust — with both you and your pet — so they feel happy, secure, and cared for at all times.

Melissa was exceptional! She helped me while I was injured and couldn’t walk my pup for a weekend. She was so timely, communicative and professional! Jojo loved every time her car pulled up and greeting her and it’s clear it was mutual from Melissa. She listened to all of my crazy dog mom requests and worries as I never have someone else walk him and was a breeze to work with. She brought her sweet golden Obi along for one of the walks and Jojo was thrilled! So thankful to be able to trust someone else with my pup.

About: My love for animals follows me wherever I go: from guiding mule rides in the Grand Canyon to fostering kittens while rock climbing in West Virginia - the animals always seem to find me! I was born and raised with horses, dogs, cats, rabbits, rodents and reptiles. This eclectic group taught me a lot about caring for and acknowledging each animals unique needs and characteristics. I've cared for sensitive, young, old, special needs and difficult dogs over the years, and know some require more patience and attention than others. Giving medicine, preparing special diets, providing mentally stimulating activity and preventing dogs from over exertion after surgery are all tasks I've done as a dedicated pet owner for a variety of small and large dog breeds. I'm currently a full-time student at LTCC and work for the Wilderness Education and Outdoor Leadership AA Degree Program. My schedule is flexible and I can work from home part time. I can take an hour break often to check in on pets. I care for pets in clients' homes and can take them out on adventures when appropriate. I often have dogs come visit my house on a field trip. I live near Reagan Beach and enjoy hiking the local trails. Typically go for 3 mile hikes for about an hour in the morning or afternoon.

About: Hello! I'm Lauren and I absolutely LOVE getting to spend time with dogs and cats, as I miss having my own. I'm experienced with caring for dogs with separation anxiety, dogs and cats that need medication/special treatment, as well as cats and dogs with disabilities. I'm a patient caregiver and make sure every pet gets lots of love and play. Thanks so much for checking out my profile! I'm currently unemployed. Until then I have open availability! I can check on animals many times in the day, host pets at my house (preferred) and keep pets overnight. I live with my boyfriend, Chase who sometimes helps me with walks when I have multiple dogs. We have a small, short fenced yard for dogs to run around in. My home is dog and cat safe, where they will not be able to get into any plants, food, or objects that would be harmful. In the client's home, I follow normal protocol that owners use. I always pick up poop in the yard and if staying multiple nights at the owners home, I will take out trash, do my dishes, and clean as necessary (basically treat it like an Airbnb!)

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
