Bridgette is the best! She's stayed & cared for our pets a couple of times now and has been absolutely fantastic. Our dog adores her and we love the daily updates & pics that she sends. Bridgette is super thoughtful and caring in all things, not just taking care of our pet family (& any special needs they have), but the house always looks amazing too! She is truly a pro, and I couldn't recommend her more highly.

About: I have taken care of my dog for several months, kept up with his training and spend time playing. Puppies need extra attention to grow into healthy adults. Adults need just as much affection and some play time. I work full-time weekdays but I am available in the evenings. Saturdays are free for me to play with dogs and take care of them. I can manage keeping up with a dogs training and take care of their needs at the same time! Who needs their dogs loved on or watched over?

Holly was fantastic with our animals (2 cats, a dog, and a pond)! While we were away on our 8 day trip she sent us some photos, which helped us know they were in good hands. And when we came back, they were only slightly perturbed at our absence, which is to be expected. Would totally have her watch our animals and house again!

About: Hi all, I have started to travel full-time since graduating college and taking on a variety of remote, freelance, and seasonal positions. 🏠 I love to visit my friends and community in Bellingham frequently, and am in search of pet sitting and house sitting positions to take on during my time in town. ✈️ I adore cats and dogs 🐾, have extensive experience caring for cats and kittens of various levels of socialization 🐈, and have plenty of time to spend with your furry friends while working from my laptop. 💻 I’m also a big fan of plants and have had a garden on every balcony of every apartment I’ve ever lived in! 🌱 I work in art, writing, and event production and have a background volunteering in civil legal aid and working in public arts. I’m passionate about community building, and I want to retain strong ties to my community in Bellingham as I begin this explorational chapter of my life. My availability is clearly and accurately visible on my Rover calendar. Thanks so much for your time, and I hope to connect! More about my pet care experience: I have experience with a variety of cats at different levels of socialization, age range (kittens included), and behavior. I’m the go-to person when my friends need a cat sitter (or just cat advice)! I watched my neighbor’s beagle in sixth grade and have experience dog sitting off-and-on ever since; I’m confident with smaller and small-to-medium dogs but have less experience with big dogs. I strive to creative meaningful interactions between pets, their humans, and I; in doing so, I follow through on excellent care—and enjoy the opportunity to spend time with furry friends! I work part-time and sometimes travel for art and event production work, so (as you’ll see in my calendar) my availability fluctuates. On my available days, I’m always free to stop by for both a morning and an evening visit. I am extremely respectful of other peoples’ spaces when I’m visiting, I’m a very tidy person, and I believe in leaving everywhere better than I found it. This extends to pets’ homes during overnight visits!

About: I've had dogs in my life since I was 8 and all my dogs have shown great love towards me because I give them the full love back. I am known in the family as the family caretaker when our dogs get old and need special attention. The reason I take care of my dogs when they get older because I have the patience, attentions, and most of all, love in supporting them through their elderly stage. All pets deserve the best and I am more than happy to provide that! I am currently taking the year off from work to travel the world but in between my trips I have a lot of free time and feel it can be better spent taking care of pets while other people can enjoy trips or another activity that requires them to leave their pet at home. I have a 5-year old Havanese and I take him on walks daily, I make sure he is bathe at least once a month, and try to take him on as many trips so I can, so he can enjoy the world as much I as I do.

Trisha was a great dog and house sitter. Our two young dogs were happy to see us come home but it was clear that they had been well taken care of. They ate well, which shows that they weren't stressed about our absence. They had obviously had a lot of attention. I recommend Trish wholeheartedly for anyone else. Karen

This was our first time using Autumn and we definitely will be using her again and again. We ended up having to ask her to do a favor for us while she was housesitting and she didn't hesitate to take care of what we needed her to do. No questions asked. Our rott also had a big accident in his crate overnight and she immediately called me in the morning and let me know what happened. She cleaned up the crate and washed it down, washed the dog and cleaned the spots on the carpet and vacuumed. Our house was picked up and you couldn't even tell that there had been an accident. She is truly amazing with our dogs and I could tell that they love her. Can't wait to use her again.

FAQs for House Sitting - Lake Cavanaugh

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of August 2026, there are 871 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Lake Cavanaugh. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Lake Cavanaugh walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Lake Cavanaugh maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Lake Cavanaugh choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Lake Cavanaugh. On Rover:

  • 97% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 99% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 95% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
