“This was our first experience using Rover.com, and we couldn't have been happier! Our sitter, Elaine, is terrific! Not only did she capture amazing pictures of our two Bengal cats, she even managed to win over Shiloh, who normally runs and hides under the bed whenever a stranger comes into our home. My husband and I could hardly believe our eyes when we watched the video of Shiloh letting Elaine pet her. It was nice, too, to come home to a clean and tidy area where the food dishes are as our cats always like dropping their food on the floor before eating. I highly recommend Elaine.”

About: I have taken care of pets like dogs, cats, reptiles, and farm animals since I was very young. I have experience with small to large dogs as well as young to senior dogs and cats. I have also volunteered at shelters for the past few years and helped them too. I am currently taking care of animals full time. I am available at all hours and all days as long as I have no other bookings. I have a fenced backyard and a pool that my dogs love. I also have 3 dogs of my own. I have a German Shepherd puppy and 2 senior Chihuahuas. I strive to make sure all animals I take care of are happy and safe.
“I can’t say enough about Lainey and her care of our pets June 3rd -19th. She is a very responsible, kind and diligent. Lainey understood how important this was for us, and she clearly cares very much for the animals in her care. Communication was fantastic right from the start and throughout our trip. Lainey went above and beyond our expectations. and we would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone who is looking for someone trustworthy to treat your pets as family. Thank you Lainey!”
“Teri was fantastic! She went above and beyond trying to coax our timid cat out from under the bed. Everything was well taken care of and very timely. She was on top of everything and responded to communications very promptly. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring sitter.”

About: I have always been lucky enough to have a dog growing up. I have looked after my neighbors pets multiple times as well. I am very comfortable around all types. As for cats I have never personally taken care of any but I do volunteer at the shelter that has both cats and dogs. When I come to take care of, play with, and walk your dogs I will dedicate my time to loving them and treat them as if they were my own. I have one family dog named Charles. He is a Lagotto Romagnolo and he truly is my bestfriend. I am interning at an accounting firm and I work Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8 to 5 pm. I am free to pet sit these days too after 5. Since I sit at a desk all day, I have a lot of energy leftover and love going on walks and playing with my dog in the evening. Hopefully in the future yours too!! I currently have a dog and he is a big part of my life. I love exercising and everyone I do cardio he joins me for my walks. He loves playing fetch so I am used to that. I also just love a pets affection and love. I constantly walk my dog, take him to the dog park (even though all he does is sit in the shade), I feed him every night and give him infinite kisses!
About: Throughout the years, I have always naturally bonded with animals of all shapes and sizes. I have dedicated much of my life to caring for pets, starting from the time I was young when family and neighbors relied on me for daily feeding, walking, and playtime. Whether your dog needs gentle senior companionship, patient routine maintenance, or a fun play session, I ensure every pet feels safe, comfortable, and deeply loved while you are away. My partner and I work together to maintain a highly flexible routine, ensuring your pets always receive plenty of attention. Between the two of us, we are readily available throughout weekdays and weekends for reliable check-ins, timely feedings, and continuous companionship. Your pet’s safety and comfort are our top priorities. As a team, my partner and I provide attentive, gentle supervision while strictly following all of your house and care instructions. Having two dedicated caregivers means your pet gets extra care, secure monitoring, and regular photo updates.
“Kyla was amazing! She and our dog, Riley, got along really well. She was very attentive to Riley’s needs and was very quick to update us with any news! We would highly recommend her to anyone in the area. 10/10 would recommend”

About: I’ve loved and cared for animals for as long as I can remember. My very first pet was my childhood cat, who I got when I was 2 years old and who lived with me for 17 wonderful years before crossing the rainbow bridge. I’ve always had a special connection with animals and a passion for caring for them. Over the years, I’ve gained experience caring for many different types of pets, including dogs, cats, birds, fish, and more. I currently have two Dobermans and a kitty of my own. I recently moved to a 2 acre property, which has been amazing for training and working with my dogs, they’re truly thriving with the space and lifestyle they deserve. To me, pets are family, and I always strive to give them the best care, attention, and love possible. I’ve also rescued and fostered kittens in need, helping them find safe and loving forever homes. Caring for animals genuinely brings me happiness, and having them in my life has always been incredibly fulfilling. I currently work part time and have a flexible schedule, which allows me to dedicate plenty of time, attention, and care to your pets. Pet care naturally fits into my daily routine since I already care for my own animals every day. At my home, pets have access to a large, secure fenced yard for safe outdoor time and exercise. I also have spacious fenced in kennels available if needed for safety, rest time, or individual comfort. Pets are always supervised, given plenty of attention, and cared for in a clean, calm environment. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I always respect their routines, instructions, and house rules to help pets feel comfortable and stress free in their familiar environment. I like to check in with pet parents often, sending pictures and updates to give them peace of mind while their pets are in my care.

“Sara was fantastic! She came over before our scheduled day to meet our dogs and familiarize herself with our dogs schedule and details for their routine. We have never hired a dog service before and we’re apprehensive at first. The day of service she kept us informed and even sent pictures of our fur babies to let us know how they’re doing. We felt comfortable knowing Sara was tending to them. We definitely recommend hiring her services and will be using Rover and requesting Sara for future dog sitting services. :)”

About: I have had pets all of my growing up and have taken care of them. I have walked many dogs on wag from small dogs with little activity to huskies. Also for a year and half now I have house sitter for clients from a week to a weekend to a day. Getting a degree has shown me my resilience, self-determination, and commitment to hard work. Also my ability to provide compassionate care not only to people but also making your pets feel safe. I’m currently working full time from 8:00am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday in person in Sacramento. So it would be great if you have a doggy door or some way for the pets to potty during the day outside. After 4:30pm I am able to stay the whole night with furr babies. When going into your home, I will make sure to be respectful of your surroundings and be in and out as fast as possible. Also I will leave it as I initially saw the home when I arrived.
About: Hi my name is Jo-Ann. Caring for pets is my passion. I have 2 mini schnauzers of my own Riley and Holly 1 year old litter mates. I understand how hard it is to trust your babies to strangers. You can rest assured your babies will be in great loving hands in my care. They will get all of the love and care that they deserve. My house is dog friendly, I have a big fenced backyard that they will have access to as needed or wanted. I will provide both daycare on a daily basis as well as overnight or weekly stays. I would ask however for overnight stays that your pet have their own special bed or blanket that makes them feel comfortable. I look forward to meeting you and your pet. I am currently employed full-time in the Bay Area so my calendar is limited. I will be retiring in June which will open up more dates and times. I have a fenced yard that enables your pet access to exercise. I also have 2 very energetic pups who will gladly share their toys for playtime.

About: Hi! My name is Victoria, and I’m 27 years old. I work a hybrid remote schedule, so I’m home most of the time with my three-year-old Husky, Thorfinn. I grew up around dog rescue and was used to having 8–10 dogs in the house at a time. That experience taught me how to care for dogs with all kinds of personalities — including the stubborn, sassy, energetic, teething, and occasionally mischievous ones! I’m comfortable with dogs who need patience, consistency, and a little extra attention. My rescue experience has also given me hands-on experience with dogs who need additional care. I’ve helped care for a Rottweiler recovering from a serious hip injury, including assisting her with mobility, medications, and getting around in a wheelchair. I’ve also administered eye drops and other medications and have experience caring for dogs who may not be thrilled about their treatments. 😊 I’ve also transported rescue dogs to foster and forever homes throughout California, which gave me the opportunity to work with shelters, rescue organizations, and fosters across the state. Dogs of all shapes, sizes, breeds, and personalities are welcome! I’m pretty active, so if your dog loves hiking, swimming, running, playing outside, or going on adventures, I’d be happy to keep them moving and entertained. And for the dogs who would rather spend the day relaxing, getting cuddles, and being spoiled, I’m more than happy to provide that too. Most importantly, I want your dog to feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while you’re away. I’m excited to meet you and your pets! 🐾 Thank you for considering me!
“Both our 2-yr old kitties took to Amy immediately and these two are shy. I was very anxious as we hadn’t left them alone in a year almost. Amy was very good to our persnickety babies, took care of them, played with them, kept their respective dry and wet food and water containers neat and took care of the litter daily. We came home to two happy kitties and a neat kitty space. Amy was also great with communicating, sending pictures. I’ve already asked her to sit for us the next time we’re away. Thank you Amy!”

About: Your pup will love the fact that he/she can run and play and get one on one attention. I love to take care of pets and know just how to make your pets day fun and stimulating so when they come home they can be the warm fuzzy friend you love! I am a stay at home mom so I have open availability. Did I mention I take hikes?!? Yep that's right folks...a dog sitter that will actually take your fur baby on an adventure when you're at work! I personally have been training pups since I was 15 years old, so that will be a part of the daily activities. If your fur baby has special needs that is fine too! My mom and I have been involved with Muttville for years! Pittbull and other (“aggressive”) breeds 110% welcome!! I use that term EXTREMELY LOOSELY! I will host any breed of dog, I do not believe it is the dogs breeding that causes aggression or biting. Most times it is just inexperience on the humans part or fear on the dogs part. Feel confident bringing your pup to stay with me, I monitor all activity and continue to reinforce your training expectations while you’re away.

About: I grew up always having a house full of dogs, my family usually had four or five at a time. I've been enjoying life with my pug, however I would like to enjoy and take care of other dogs too! I love running, taking my dog to the park, snuggling and teaching dogs new tricks! Love dogs of all sizes and breeds! Looking to earn extra income for college, and something flexible! I have reliable transportation. I am into fitness so if your dog likes to go on runs I am down for it! I look forward to watching your dog and making their time with me the best ever! Please feel free to reach out to me thank you -Paige I currently work part time, and am always down for some exercise by taking your dog out for walks! My schedule is pretty flexible, and I am willing to work with your schedule as well! I have a fenced in 3 acre property, and I’m able to keep my dogs separate from yours if needed. I will ensure to lock your doors and put everything where it should be if I was at your house.

You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:

- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
