“Our 70 lb dog LOVES going by Michelle. I actually feel a bit guilty I don’t take him there more often! He gets so excited at the front door and is thrilled to see her when he arrives. I always appreciate the photos and videos she sends. I 100% know our dog is well cared for and very much loved while he is in her care.”

“Irina is absolutely wonderful! I have never left my dog with a sitter before, but she made it so easy and painless. She sent multiple daily photos and quick messages about how he did during his stay, and I felt completely safe and comfortable and certain that Jack was getting top notch care. I will definitely be using her services whenever we need care for Jack in the future!”

“Maverick has been with Derek and Leslie twice so far and he loves it! He’s always well taken care of and has a great time. They are incredibly flexible with my schedule and super responsive. I would recommend sending your pups here!”

“Walee took care of our 6 month old puppy, Miski. We are very thankful for her kind and loving attitude. Walee went above and beyond! She kept us informed with texts and photos; she made Miski feel like she was part of their family and even took her to the dog park!. Walee's dog, Ike, is adorable and super playful. Ike and Miski became great friends. We think Miski is missing Ike a bit. Her other dog, Suchi is a loving senior citizen who wasn't up to the energetic playfulness of Ike and Miski. Walee has a large property, dogs can roam and run, but also she brings them inside and spoils them with couch time. First class service. Thanks!”

“Our border collie had a great stay while we were camping in the Redwoods National Park and our return was delayed by a day. Amy and Justin were happy to extend our pups stay! Thanks you so much!”

“Our pup had a great time with Dongjun and Minkoung! They sent us lots of photos of him and updates of him playing at the park and cuddling at home. Very easy and smooth stay. Highly recommend!”

“Melissa took great care of our goldendoodle while we were away for a long weekend. She sent us pictures and kept us updated on how she was doing. She has so much space for her to run and play. Thank you Melissa!”

“Great experience! Our dog was well taken care of and seemed very happy and comfortable. Communication was easy, and we really appreciated the updates and photos. We’d definitely book again!”

“The best! We were on vacation for 10 days and he communicated every single day. He took them on lots of walks and other adventures too. I am very picky when it comes to my pups and he is our guy!!!”

“Patti and her husband took great care of my puppy! I was updated with pictures and videos the whole time. I felt at ease knowing Tilly was in such safe and caring hands❤️”

“Thank you to Michelle and David for watching Clover for the weekend. Clover got to sleep on a bed (instead of in her crate‐ yes, it was okayed!) and had a doggy friend her age to run around with. I think she enjoyed herself!”

“Sylvia was great. She was very responsive and easy to communicate with. She has a lovely home and a very sweet dog and her dog and ours got along great. A nice backyard for them to romp around in, and a lot of attentive care. We felt great about his stay with Sylvia. Would definitely take advantage of her hosting again. Highly recommended.”

“Colleen and her husband are lovely people and treated our Maltipoo like he was their own. She is very knowledgeable and intuitive and a real dog lover. My little dog even looked back at her when we got into the car! What a lucky find 🐶”

“Jena had our sweet Rocky for over 2 weeks during the holidays. It warmed our hearts to see him having such a wonderful time with her and her family. It’s so hard to find people you can trust to care for your pet, I’m so glad we found Jena ❤️”

“One of the best dog sitters I’ve had! She took care of my dog in her home like he was part of their family. Sent so many great pictures and updates which put me at ease during my dog’s first stay with Christany and her family. Quick responses. Rebooked already for another stay! We appreciate this warm and loving home!”

About: Over 30 years of pet care experience! I’m the type of person that stops by the side of the road to save a lost animal. My dog is a swimmer, not a walker! I work from home, but have a very flexible schedule. Definitely looking for a morning walker and am open for home drop ins otherwise. Safety is key, it is summer right now so pets should be indoors most the day. Early morning or late evening walks are best. Check the ground temperature and do not walk your dogs when its hot!
Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Jayhawk
Elaine is a special person that truly understands dogs. This was the first time we left our 4 year old Marley in a home with multiple dogs. We did a meet and greet with Elaine and felt very comfortable that she understood his uneasiness with new people and new dogs. She gave him the space and reassurance that he needed and after a few days he was right at home. We had such a good experience that we are going to bring him for doggie daycare at her home to keep the good vibe going. Thank you so much Elaine!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Jayhawk home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Jayhawk.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Jayhawk sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
