“Our dogs had an amazing time with Bella. She was thoughtful and conscientious of all of their needs and personalities. We were touched by the home made dog treats as well!”

“This was our first time using Rover, and Danae was exceptional! She kept us updated with our cats, and she was flexible when we had to make adjustments to our care plan. Highly recommend!!”

“I was so happy Abhi was around to check in on my cat, Binx while I was on vacation! Tons of pictures and details about his visits and even gave me an awesome recommendation for a brush for my long-haired boy :)”

“Maria took excellent care of our cat for a week, 2 visits a day. She was there like clockwork - and sent us photos, which we loved. I appreciated how communicative she was, especially with a snowstorm coming. Would 100 % use her again.”

“Jacqueline is not five but six stars! She truly goes above and beyond! She’s not only reliable—sticking to our schedule perfectly for 10 days, even on Christmas, or during a snowstorm, and freezing cold—but also a sweet, pleasant person to deal with. Her excellent communication, updates, and heartwarming cat photos eased our anxiety as first-time users leaving our fur babies. She’s now “our” cat sitter. Highly recommend her! Thank you from the heart.”

“Jocelyn goes above and beyond! And our dog just loves her! It is clear Jocelyn treats all dogs like her own, and we are so happy to have someone we trust who our dog loves!”

About: I’ve been surrounded by animals my entire life and caring for them is truly second nature to me. I grew up managing large horse farms, where I was responsible for a wide variety of animals—from horses and livestock to, of course, dogs and cats. This hands-on experience has given me a strong understanding of animal behavior, routines, and the level of care each pet deserves. I was also a competitive equestrian for 18 years, and my dogs were always right there by my side, so I understand how important it is to have someone you trust looking after your pets. Today, I have a 7-month-old Labrador, so I’m very familiar with puppy energy, training consistency, and lots of playtime! Whether your pet needs long walks, structured care, or just some extra love and attention, I’m reliable, attentive, and treat every animal as if they were my own. I’m happy to accommodate specific routines and make sure your pet feels safe, comfortable, and cared for while you’re away. I work from home creating a flexible schedule.
“Elena was a great pet sitter, I absolutely loved her! She took care of everything my cat needed and that we agreed. She took the time to get to know him and the attention was all focused on him. It was the best sitter I had so far. Definitely booking again! Thanks Elena, it is so great to have peace of mind even leaving the little one.”

“Sophie was great! We are very grateful to have found her in the app and booked with her. She is very reliable and provided prompt pictures and reports about our Bagel while we were away. We will definitely book with her again in our future time away. Thank you Sophie!”

About: I've always had cats and I've had a dog for the past 3 years. I volunteer at Paws Crossed with my daughter, where we walk dogs and socialize cats. I have a flexible schedule, but need advance notice in order to coordinate other activities. In home pet sitting in lower Westchester is easier for me. I have a fenced in yard and crates. At a client's home, I enjoy going for walks, and playing inside and outside with the dog.

About: I’ve had both cats and dogs as pets growing up my whole life. I walk dogs for families all around my neighborhood as well as dog/catsit. I love surrounding myself with fur babies of all types:)) I’m a college student with no job because I go back to college first week of July for soccer (no time for a full time job). That being said, I’m home all the time to take care of your animals! I live in a neighborhood filled with dogs! Everyone is always out walking their dogs and all the dogs I’ve cared for love interacting with the other dogs. There’s loads of places for them to do their business and walk!
“Ellie has been a lifesaver for us these past couple weeks and we could not ask for anything more in a sitter! She communicated with us while we were away the absolutely perfect amount - just enough to keep us posted while still letting us enjoy our vacation and fully relax. She gave our cat Frankie his insulin injections accurately and on time and she even carried a 40 lbs bag of litter upstairs and inside for us when we ran out and had to get more delivered. We looked forward to her funny but still informative updates and photos of our boys after each visit and knew they were in the best hands while we were gone.”

“Jessica is such a kind and caring pet sitter. She really makes you feel as if your pet is the cutest and most wonderful creature she has ever met. (In the case of our Moma, I’m sure it’s true! :) She is very attentive to the instructions you leave and will ask questions to make sure she is caring for your pets in just the way you would do it yourself. I cannot recommend her more highly.”

“Karen is the best. She’s very reliable and responsible. I trust her completely in my home and with my two cats. Both of my cats are very picky and don’t like most people, but they both love Karen. I recommend her to anyone with pet sitting needs.”

“Marta is so sweet and kind. She even suggested meet and greet beforehand so our puppy Leo can get to know her before her visit. She was very communicative and accommodating! Highly highly recommend!”

“Becky is amazing! You can tell immediately she is an “animal person” by her energy, and I knew our girls would be in fantastic hands. I was extra nervous since one of our kitties has anxiety and is on medication - it’s a lot to ask of someone else to care for her - but Becky was completely unfazed and didn’t hesitate for a minute. I was totally reassured every minute we were gone and was actually able to enjoy my vacation knowing Becky had everything handled. Thank you, Becky!”

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Irvington
Danae is incredibly reliable and is wonderful with my cat. This time she went out of her way to help me with a household task (emptying my dehumidifier which was on due to water in my basement) and even came back on her own time to make sure everything was OK. I recommend her highly.

This is the 3rd time Christine has watched my babies and each time I know they are taken care of as if I was home. She sends plenty of pictures and details that make being away so much easier. I could not recommend her enough and glad she will be watching them the next time I am away as well!!

Marilyn took great care of our cat, Louie, and we felt very comfortable knowing he was in her care. She visited once a day, spent time playing with him, and always sent photo updates, which we really appreciated. Her communication was excellent throughout, and she was consistently reliable and trustworthy. It was clear she genuinely cared about Louie. We would absolutely book Marilyn again and highly recommend her to other pet parents.

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Irvington. On Rover:
- 87% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 92% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
