“Ella was absolutely fab Bailey was made up playing with her dogs all weekend! I think she wanted to stay so she could keep playing! Kept me up to date and sent lots of cute videos too 10/10 💕☺️”

“Geni did a fantastic job at minding our dog. I’d say Lilly had more fun in her house than she would ever have had at home. Lilly got brought to the park both days and had lots of activity. Would be delayed to recommend Geni to anybody who needs their dog looked after by a nice family.”

About: I have experience caring for cats and spent years looking after my own beautiful girl, who sadly passed away from cancer a few months ago. Caring for her taught me patience, compassion, and how to give pets the love and attention they deserve. I’ll treat your pets like they’re my own and keep you updated while you’re away. 🐾 I work part-time and am home early most days, so I have plenty of time to give your pet the attention they deserve. My evenings are usually spent relaxing, going for walks, or reading, making it easy to stick to your pet’s usual routine and provide lots of company and care. I have a secure, fenced garden for outdoor time, and pets are welcome on the furniture if that’s what they’re used to at home.
“I left my yorkie Joey with Bridget for the first time in June, as he's an indoor dog who doesn't do very well in kennels. He had a great time and was in really good form when I collected him. He had daily walks, lots of company and was minded very well. Would definitely recommend and will definitely use again. Perfect for small dogs who are used to being inside and lots of attention.”

“Once again, we are very happy with the care that Wendy provided to our boy Oscar. We had peace of mind while we were away on our holiday that Oscar was in good hands. Thanks for all that you do, Wendy!”
“Paula gave our Dudley a great welcome which put us at ease right away. We knew he would be well looked after. We collected a very happy 🐶 the following day and got a lovely send off from Paula and her family. We can highly recommend Paula and look forward to linking up again on our next trip to Kilkenny!”

“Our pup Rúna was so well cared for by Jean Philippe and his partner, they were super patient with her. Rúna made 2 new friends in Bu and Badger, they were calm and got on really well together. Would 100% recommend! ”
About: Hi! I’m a huge animal lover, and dogs have always been a big part of my life. Back home, I have my own dog, who I’ve cared for since he was a puppy and is truly the love of my life. Looking after him has taught me how important patience, routine, exercise, and plenty of affection are. Friends and family also trust me to care for their dogs while they’re away, whether that’s feeding, walking, playing, or simply keeping them company. I understand that every dog has their own personality and needs, and I’ll always treat your pet with the same love and care I give my own. I’ll also keep you updated with plenty of photos and messages so you can have peace of mind while you’re away I work full-time, but I work from home a couple of days during the week, which gives me extra flexibility to care for your pet. I’m also available in the evenings, weekends, and on my days off for walks, drop-in visits, and pet sitting. I’ll always make sure your dog gets plenty of attention, exercise, playtime, and lots of love, and I’ll keep you updated throughout their stay. Your pet’s safety and happiness are my top priorities. I’ll always follow your routine and any instructions you provide, including feeding schedules, walks, medication, and any special requirements. I understand that every dog is different, so I’ll take the time to help them feel comfortable and secure. I’ll treat your pet with the same care and respect as I would my own, and I’ll keep you updated with regular photos and messages so you can relax knowing they’re in safe hands.
“I don't think my words will do justice at how much of a special place Cara has created for dogs to be looked after safely with so much love. We were blown away by not only the love and care Cara and her family showed for Stevie but also the importance she places on dogs having fun during their stay! Stevie literally had her own holiday at Cara's and she was in the best mood when we picked her up! We don't go away too often but I cannot recommend Cara highly enough for the kind and thoughtful person she is and the service she provides. A Truly magical place for dogs and Stevie will be back there soon again.”

About: I currently have two cats that I care for every day, including feeding them, cleaning their litter trays, grooming them, playing with them, and making sure they are happy, comfortable, and healthy. I also had two small dogs for many years, which gave me experience caring for dogs and understanding their needs. I am comfortable handling and caring for dogs of different sizes. I have also spent time looking after ponies that were borrowed from a local farmer and kept on our land. My role involved providing them with fresh water, checking on them, and keeping them company while they were in our care. I really enjoy being around animals and take pride in making sure they feel safe, cared for, and well looked after. I work fully remotely, giving your pet plenty of attention. I'm available before work, at lunch, after work, and weekends for walks, playtime, feeding, and cuddles. Your pet's safety comes first. I have a spacious, secure home with separate areas for pets, barred windows, secure doors, and can provide essentials if needed.
About: I have a background as a yard manager working with horses and have owned dogs all my life. I have competed in dog agility and also foster regularly for a local dog rescue. All of our own dogs are rescues, some of which did not have an ideal start in life but they love nothing more now than sharing their couch with other 4 legged friends. We both work from home so there will always be one, if not both of us around to play and care for your dog. Daily exercise is a must and we have a fully fenced field to ensure have extra space for ball throwing. We have a fully fenced garden and any dog that comes into our home shares our couch with us and our 3 dogs. We also have a 1 acre field which is fully fenced and a popular space for any guests.

“Shauna looked after our “first born”, Pippa!! It was Pippa’s first time staying with a stranger - Shauna made Pippa feel right at home and even allowed her stay in her bed 💙 which she loves. Pippa is a highly energetic Collie; Shauna was great to bring her for her walks. ”

“We couldn’t have asked for a better sitter for our Bernese Mountain Dog pup! Daria took such wonderful care of her – making sure she was well-fed, walked, and even teaching her new tricks. She regularly sent us updates and photos, which gave us so much peace of mind, and our pup always looked so happy and relaxed. She went above and beyond in every way: helping our puppy socialize with other dogs, brushing and bathing her before our return, and even clipping her nails when she noticed they were getting long. During the heat, she was so thoughtful and caring – providing a cooling mat and refreshing ice water to keep her comfortable. It was clear from the start that our pup felt completely at home with her, and we are so grateful for the love and attention she provided. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a truly caring, reliable, and attentive dog sitter!”
About: **Female dog boarding only at present** I have looked after my own animals and family/friend's too, for over 25 years. I have been around horses, cats, dogs (and more!) from a young age. I currently have one dog at home and I know how important it is to know your furry friend is looked after while you're away/working. My dog Cú loves the company of other dogs and I have some regular lodgers who are his good friends 🥰 I can accommodate for crates, dog beds etc and I am more than happy to give cuddles and treats and accommodate any dietary needs. I work from home most days so I will be with your pet all of the time. My own dog takes up his post in his beside in my office beside me and there is always space for more puppers there 😊 I have a fenced garden and plenty of nice spots for lead walks close to home. I live the in countryside and have an open field for running about if needed too. I never leave my own dog unsupervised with others, for his own safety and that of others. He is lovely and friendly but I always err on the side of caution working with all animals! 🙏

Paula was a fantastic dog sitter for Garbo. Her home is very close to the city centre, which made drop-off and pick-up super convenient. She was kind, friendly, and kept up excellent communication throughout Garbo’s stay. I could tell Garbo was relaxed and happy the entire time. I highly recommend Paula and would definitely book with her again!
Anna and her partner were amazing sitters. They kept me informed at all times and sent regular pictures and updates. Lola has an amazing stay and got on so well. She even made new best friend (Max). I would highly recommend Anna and will definitely get her to mind Lola again. Thank you so much!

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates
Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up to date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in Kilkenny ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines such as Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Infectious Canine Hepatitis (Adenovirus), and Leptospirosis.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Many boarding sitters in Kilkenny can stay with their dogs most of the day, but it’s common for them to step out for short periods. Since every sitter’s schedule is unique, it’s important to agree on expectations before the stay begins. Adding the number of hours your dog can be alone to their profile will also help you find the right match.
If you are worried about your dog being alone, ask a sitter how they make a dog feel settled in a new environment. This can help your dog feel more comfortable.
If your dog cannot be left alone for more than a few hours, you may want to look for sitters who offer 24/7 care. Sitters who offer constant care are more likely to take on dogs who need frequent attention.
Every pet sitter, walker, and boarding sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to €25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to €25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English, French, German, and Spanish from Mon-Sat 9am to 6pm. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s booking protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cut-off time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will apply. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
