So grateful to have met Nikola and have someone take such good care of my babies. I do a lot with them to keep them stimulated and well behaved, and Nikola did just that. She brought my two on lovely walks, I received loads of updates, pictures and videos which really calmed my nerves about leaving them behind. Nikola walked to my house to collect the babies so we had a fantastic introduction and walked them back to hers giving them a fantastic bit of exercise and time to get to know her. Shadow and Nala were introduced to other dogs too and had a brilliant time, they got a lot of enrichment too. I felt that they were well loved and looked after, it was amazing to have someone take such good care of my little ones. I couldn't have asked for anything better ❤️

Buckie was minded well for the one night we left him with Laura. It was the first time sending him to a sitter so, I was worried maybe he might have been a little anxious in the new setting. She sent picture updates which was a nice touch. I will book Laura again as she minded Buckie well and is a lovely lady.

Jiuxin was brilliant with our dog. It is immediately obvious when you meet her that she is a dog lover and has a special way with dogs. We got lots of updates and photos, especially of walks in the nearby woods. Jiuxin even bought a pool for the dogs during the hot weather - not that our dog agreed to get into it! I would highly recommend Jiuxin to anyone looking for dog boarding in a home away from home.

About: I have had my dog for 14 years, and since I was a child I've walked dogs for friends and family and have looked after family dogs overnight. I also care for a lot of our neighbourhood cats by feeding them and leaving water out when it's warm. I'm currently a student at University of Galway but I live at home, and I'm home quite often so I'd be around to care for the pet most of the day. Even if I wasn't around, there's always someone at home since my mother works from home, and my own dog Harley would be there to keep your pet company. I have a large garden and lot's of indoor space for large animals, I have a very friendly 14 year old female Husky/Retriever mix that would be great company for pets I look after. She's extremely gentle with cats so no bother there either. I walk my dog 1-2 times a day, I would do the same for a dog I look after. My neighbourhood is a great area for dogwalking, there's lots of green spaces and a beach. I live with my family so there would be other trusted adults around too. I would look after a pet in someone else's house but would also be super open to keeping them at my own house too.

About: I have looked after dogs and cats for years. I have had dogs and cats of my own for years also. Am happy to look after puppies also. Your fur baby will be looked after so well. I’m currently working part time so on the days I have availability marked I am fully able to mind your animals. I am also available to do house calls for walks and toilet breaks for your pets. I live on the first floor apartment in Bohermore with outdoor green areas so your dog will be on leash for all toilet breaks and walkies. I have a car also and can bring them for a spin to the park or beach for walkies if your animals like the car, if not they can be walked around the area I live.

About: I have always had a dog since I can remember, had a black labrador since I was 6 and a border collie since i was 9 years old. I adore pets, specially dogs and I’ve never been afraid of being hands on with looking after them, playing around and going for walks no matter how long, all depending on the dog’s needs. In Ireland I only have experience with one little 4 month old puppy since I only now got the time to be more committed to the pets and give them the attention and care they need and deserve. I am currently working part time during the day so I am fully available to look after your pet! I am available mostly during the weekends (friday, saturday and sunday after work). Depending on what service is needed I can do it during the week too after work, that can all be arranged. I have a large backyard at home where your pet can run around, go potty and relax for as long as wished. I don’t have any pets at home so my full attention will be given to your pet specifically. I have toys I can provide for your pet if wanted, water and food bowl too. I also live in estate so I can bring him/her for nice walks.

About: I honestly love dogs almost more than I love humans 😁 I have always loved dogs from a young age whether that be my own or friends and families. Unfortunately at the moment I can’t commit to having a dog full time myself but miss having the company on walks and at home. I have a family dog, his name is Whatsapp. I have previous experience in minding dogs of all personalities, whether that’s active or chilled

About: I grew up with a cocker spaniel and King Charles spaniel so my love for dogs is huge. I am kind, patient and caring. Our King Charles lost the feeling in her back legs in her last two years so I am used to taking care and assessing the dog’s needs. On my days off from my job, I would love to mind dogs or bring them for walks. If it were an over night and I had to work, I have a loving family who would take great care of the dog with me Currently I have no pets at home so the attention would be all on your dog. I would bring the dog out on a lead unless the owner was certain they wouldn’t run onto the road.

My two little doggies had a fantastic few days with Beverley while I was abroad. It was my first time using Rover and while I was initially a bit apprehensive as I’d never left them with someone I don’t know, everything went perfectly. Beverley kept me updated throughout and gave me extra peace of mind. I will definitely be booking with her again when another trip comes up. Delighted throughout. Thank you for everything!

FAQs for Boarding - Galway

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for Dog Boarding in Galway on Rover is €40.25 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of Dog Boarding easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for Dog Boarding. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 44 sitters on Rover offering Dog Boarding across Galway. Enter your Eircode to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up to date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Many sitters in Galway ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines such as Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Infectious Canine Hepatitis (Adenovirus), and Leptospirosis.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

Many boarding sitters in Galway can stay with their dogs most of the day, but it’s common for them to step out for short periods. Since every sitter’s schedule is unique, it’s important to agree on expectations before the stay begins. Adding the number of hours your dog can be alone to their profile will also help you find the right match.

If you are worried about your dog being alone, ask a sitter how they make a dog feel settled in a new environment. This can help your dog feel more comfortable.

If your dog cannot be left alone for more than a few hours, you may want to look for sitters who offer 24/7 care. Sitters who offer constant care are more likely to take on dogs who need frequent attention.

Every pet sitter, walker, and boarding sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to €25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to €25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Emergency support is available by phone or email in English, French, German, and Spanish from Mon-Sat 9am to 6pm. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.

If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s booking protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cut-off time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will apply. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
