“Gary was amazing I'd 100% recommend him! Arlo, my 2 month old puppy, had such a great time and honestly looked like he would've happily stayed longer! 😊 It was great knowing he was in a safe environment where he got to meet and socialise with other dogs. Gary kept me updated every day with messages about how Arlo was settling in, which really put my mind at ease. It was obvious Arlo was really well looked after and having lots of fun. I'll definitely be booking with Gary again. Thanks so much!”

“It was Pickle's first time staying over night in someone else's home . Initially I was worried but straight away after meeting Martina I knew my dog was in good hands. Martina was so welcoming to us both and had some chicken ready to welcome the dog. Martina even sent us a picture of Pickles having a nap which but our minds at ease. Highly recommend and will use again. Thank you”

About: HI! My name is Camila, I’m 35 and based in Rathgowan, Mullingar. I’m a true animal lover and proud pet owner, and I understand how important it is to find someone trustworthy to care for your pets. I work from home, which allows me to offer flexible and reliable visits to care for your dog or cat while you’re away. My goal is to make sure your pet feels safe, comfortable and happy in their own home. My services include feeding, fresh water, dog walks, litter tray cleaning, playtime and companionship. I’m also happy to provide daily updates with photos so you can relax knowing your pet is well cared for. I’m available for holidays, weekends and short trips, and I’d be happy to arrange a meet & greet to get to know you and your pet before the booking. I treat every pet with the same care and attention I give to my own, always respecting their routine and personality. My aim is to make both pets and owners feel relaxed and confident while they are apart.

FAQs for Dog Boarding - Athlone

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost of Dog Boarding in Athlone is €29 per night as of November 2026. Most bookings cost between €21 and €47 per night.

On Rover, sitters set their own rates based on factors such as their experience, the length of care, the number of pets and your pet’s specific needs. As long as your booking dates and pet profiles are accurate, the pri ce s hown before you confirm is the total, including any booking fee.

As of November 2026, there are 21 sitters on Rover offering Dog Boarding across the city of Athlone. About 100% typically respond to requests within 60 minutes.

Enter your address and booking dates to see which sitters are available near you. You can also message multiple sitters to improve your chances of finding the right care.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up to date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Many sitters in Westmeath ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines such as Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Infectious Canine Hepatitis (Adenovirus), and Leptospirosis.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

Some boarding sitters stay with the dogs in their care for most of the day, while others may step out for work, errands or other commitments. Each sitter’s schedule and the amount of time your dog may be left alone will vary, so it is important to agree expectations before the stay begins.

Before booking, tell the sitter how long your dog can comfortably be left alone and confirm their typical schedule during the stay. Adding the maximum number of hours your dog can be left alone to their profile can also help sitters decide whether they are the right match.

Boarding does not automatically include round-the-clock supervision. If your dog needs someone present at all times, ask whether the sitter offers constant care or 24/7 care. This may require a separate arrangement and may not be included in the sitter’s standard boarding rate.

Every sitter must complete an identity verification process before listing their services on Rover. This process checks that the sitter’s identity matches their provided documents.

Identity verification doesn't assess a sitter’s experience or suitability for your pet. To see if a sitter is the right fit, you can review each sitter's profile for ratings, verified reviews, repeat pet owner information and care style. We also recommend arranging a Meet & Greet to discuss your pet’s needs and make sure the sitter is the right fit before booking.

For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page.

Emergency support is available by phone or email in English, French, German, and Spanish from Mon-Sat 9am to 6pm. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.

If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s booking protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.

sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three- or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.

Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-in visits, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12.00 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our booking protection will kick in. This means you'll get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.

A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who've never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover, but you're welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you've previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.

Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you're booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.

During the Meet & Greet, you'll have a chance to go through your pet's routine, medical needs and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. A Meet & Greet is a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.
