Rachel was brilliant with house-sitting Moby! She kept him company, gave him 3 walks a day, stayed with him some of the nights and kept me updated with photos while I was away. She followed all instructions and was great with communication. Your fur baby is definitely in safe, caring hands with her!

Dearbhaile was very accommodating when I was stuck last minute and I felt so at ease leaving Réalta in her care. We got daily photos and updates, and I would gladly recommend or rebook again 🐾🙌

About: I’ve always had pets growing up, currently have two cats and a cheeky dog. I enjoy teaching him new tricks and chasing balls. I’ve taken care of all ages of dogs from months old to 18 years, and everything in between. Taken care of many cats and know how to keep them entertained. I am currently working part-time, usually 4-5 days a week with mainly weekdays free. I work a 9:30-6/10-5 schedule most days so I am available for morning and evening visits and potentially afternoon depending on location I don’t have the facilities to care for dogs in my own home, but I am more than happy to take care of your pet where they feel comfortable.

About: Hi! 👋 I’m a Brazilian living in Ireland for over a decade. I work in IT, which gives me some flexibility during the week. I’ve always loved animals — I used to have a cat back home, but I couldn’t bring him with me because of his health issues. He’s now living happily with my mom and her many cats (I’ve honestly lost count!). Here in Ireland, I have a dog, some fish, and lots of plants, so there’s always a bit of life around the house. I’d love to help care for your furry friend as if they were my own. 🐾 I work from home, so I have a very flexible schedule that allows me to make pet care visits throughout the day. I can easily accommodate feeding, walks, playtime, and check-ins based on your pet's routine and needs. I always follow the pet owner's instructions carefully because they know their pet's routine, preferences, and needs best. I make sure pets feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for while maintaining a clean, secure, and stress-free environment.

Róisín did a fantastic job looking after our young cat. We would highly recommend her. Communication before and after the booking was very good, she sent lots of pictures and videos while we were away and we came home to a happy cat. We just hope she's available next time we need to go away!

About: What sets me apart from other pet sitters is my lifelong experience with animals and the genuine love I have for them. I grew up on a farm, caring for dogs and cats from a young age, and I’ve continued to take care of my own pets and those of friends and landlords over the years. I understand that every pet has its own personality and needs, and I always treat them with patience, respect, and affection. I go beyond just feeding or walking I make sure pets feel safe, happy, and loved while their owners are away, sometimes even staying overnight to maintain their comfort and routine. I currently work 6 hours a day, but I am free in the morning until 10 a.m. and usually in the afternoon after 5 p.m... but everything can be discussed beforehand to fit into a routine where I can take care of your pet. I care for pets in their own home, always following their daily routine for feeding, play, and rest. I make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved, giving plenty of attention, affection, and gentle interaction. My priority is their happiness and well-being while keeping their owner informed and reassured.

About: Hello! I am a professional jazz singer and dance instructor well-known within the Galway community. I offer an exclusive House Sitting service for owners who want their homes and pets treated with the utmost respect. I welcome dogs of all shapes and sizes. I am an experienced, calm, and highly responsible adult who is completely comfortable following strict walking and feeding schedules, administering prescribed medications if needed, or simply providing great companionship for your dog while keeping your home safe. What I offer: Reliable Routine Follower: I follow your exact medical, walking, and feeding schedules to the letter. Quiet Companionship: Since I spend my days preparing dance classes and practicing bass (using headphones), your pet will have plenty of company throughout the day. Guaranteed Security: As a public figure and educator in the city, my reputation is my bond. Your luxury home will be kept immaculate and secure. Weekend Evenings: On some weekends, I perform from 8 PM to 11 PM. Your pet will be walked, fed, and settled before I leave, and I will return straight after the show. As a freelance dance instructor and musician, I work on a highly flexible, part-time schedule. This allows me to spend most of my day directly at your home, providing constant companionship. My routine is perfect for pets who thrive on having a calm human presence around. On the specific evenings when I have jazz performances (typically from 8 PM to 11 PM), your pet will be fully fed, walked, and settled before I leave, and I will return straight back to the property immediately after the show. Security and respect for your property are my top priorities. I strictly provide care at the owner's home, ensuring your pet stays in their comfortable, familiar environment. I am extremely meticulous about locking doors, following your specific home security guidelines, and keeping everything immaculate. While at your home, my time is spent in a very quiet manner—either relaxing with your pet, planning my dance lessons, or practicing my bass using headphones so there is never any noise or disruption.

About: Hi there!

I’m an enthusiastic animal lover with a lifelong passion for pets. 🐶 My journey with animals began with my first dog, a boxer, and continues today with my beloved 15-year-old puggle, Chloe, who I adore to bits. 💕 Over the years, I’ve also cared for bunny rabbits 🐰 and fish 🐟, each bringing joy and unique experiences.
My deep love for animals even led me to do work experience at a veterinary clinic during my teenage years, where I gained valuable hands-on experience. This passion inspired me to become a vegan 🌱, reflecting my commitment to animal welfare. While my friends are captivated by babies, I’m the one who always stops to greet and pet every dog on the promenade!
I’d love to mind your pets while you’re away instead of them going into a kennel! 🐾
My experience as a lifeguard and swim teacher has also instilled in me a strong sense of responsibility and reliability. I preferably seek house sitting and dog walking opportunities within the city. If you’re based outside an 8 km radius, I would kindly request travel costs to be covered.
Your furry friends will be in excellent hands with me! I promise to provide them with all the love, care, and attention they deserve. 🐕❤️ Whether it’s a walk in the park or keeping them company while you’re away, I’m here to ensure they have a great time.
Trust me to give your pets the best care possible.

Best regards,
Jessica I currently work part time from 9am-1pm I am a medical student I am free before and after work I love going on long walks too so I’d love to walk your dog! I have a large fully enclosed garden. I am very flexible and I love walking, minding and playing with dogs!! I can follow any specific instructions you have

About: I have had my dog for 14 years, and since I was a child I've walked dogs for friends and family and have looked after family dogs overnight. I also care for a lot of our neighbourhood cats by feeding them and leaving water out when it's warm. I'm currently a student at University of Galway but I live at home, and I'm home quite often so I'd be around to care for the pet most of the day. Even if I wasn't around, there's always someone at home since my mother works from home, and my own dog Harley would be there to keep your pet company. I have a large garden and lot's of indoor space for large animals, I have a very friendly 14 year old female Husky/Retriever mix that would be great company for pets I look after. She's extremely gentle with cats so no bother there either. I walk my dog 1-2 times a day, I would do the same for a dog I look after. My neighbourhood is a great area for dogwalking, there's lots of green spaces and a beach. I live with my family so there would be other trusted adults around too. I would look after a pet in someone else's house but would also be super open to keeping them at my own house too.

Paulo did a tremendous job looking after our 16 week old Golden Retriever puppy Bowie. Paulo worked a 9 hour shift sitting for Bowie and a brilliant job was done. We received updates via photos and videos throughout the day, which included leash walking Bowie, doing command training, showing Bowie new things which Paulo has great experience with dogs. You know a fantastic job was done when we came home and seen Bowie fast asleep. Definitely recommend Paulo 💯

About: Hi! I’m Veronica, in my 30s and proud rescue dog human to Thor 🐾 I know first-hand how difficult it can be to trust someone with your dog, because I’ve been in that position too. I understand the stress of leaving your dog with someone new and how important it is to find someone reliable, patient, and genuinely caring. I’ve always been one of those people who, as a child, would stop to say hello to every dog I saw… and honestly, not much has changed... If there’s a dog nearby, chances are I’ll be the one asking if I can say hi :) Animals have always been a big part of my life. Growing up, I always had pets at home, from hamsters and guinea pigs to dogs, and over the years I’ve also gained experience caring for cats. Thor is a rescue dog and has been by my side for the last 10 years. He’s a sensitive soul and has struggled with many things over the years, but through training, patience, love (lots of love!) and, of course, plenty of treats, he has grown in confidence and come such a long way. Living with Thor has taught me that every animal is different, each with their own personality, needs, and boundaries. That’s why, before starting any service, I like to take the time to get to know your best friend and ask plenty of questions during our first meeting! It helps me understand their routine, personality, and needs so I can adapt my care and make them feel as comfortable and safe as possible 🐾 I currently work part time in the mental health field, which means I am Garda vetted. I also offer 1-to-1 dog walks and home visits in Galway City. I don’t mix dogs from different households unless agreed beforehand, so your pet gets my full attention :). I have a car in case of any emergency and I'm PET FIRST AID CERTIFIED. My goal is simple: happy pets, relaxed humans, and peace of mind knowing they’re in safe hands 💙 I currently work part-time, which gives me plenty of flexibility for pet care. I am available most mornings from Monday to Sunday, as well as several afternoons throughout the week. I am Garda Vetted and work with vulnerable individuals, so I understand the importance of trust, responsibility, and reliability. I am in my 30s and have recently completed a Master's degree in Psychology, which has strengthened my communication skills, attention to detail, and professional approach. I am punctual, dependable, and attentive to each pet's individual needs, ensuring they feel safe and comfortable. My dog, Thor, does not get along with other dogs or cats, so I provide care exclusively in the owner’s home. I consider this to be better for them, as staying in their own homes is less disruptive to their routines and allows them to adapt more comfortably and naturally to their usual environment.

About: I am a full-time dog sitter and walker with 10 years' experience caring for dogs of various sizes, from Rottweilers to pugs. During this time, I have learned that each dog is unique and has its own specific needs. My approach focuses on small group numbers and meeting each dogs needs: health, exercise, food, sleep and enrichment - whether that be a puppy needing hourly toilet breaks, a high-energy dog requiring lots of exercise and mental stimulation, or a senior needing medication. I can also support training. I am trained in canine first aid and dog behaviour and always carry an first aid kit. I am working full-time at the moment as a dog walker/minder. Apart from walks during the day, where I can be away for up to 2 hours, I supervise the dogs. They get plenty of exercise and affection. I follow all instructions the owner provides for me, including walking and minding. I use a form to gather all information about the current routine and follow it.

FAQs for House Sitting - Galway

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Galway on Rover is €35.08 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 64 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Galway. Enter your Eircode to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when contacting them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Rubbish & recycling: Taking rubbish out on scheduled bin collection days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Galway walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to €25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every pet sitter, walker, and boarding sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to €25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Galway choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into your regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When contacting your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
