“Sydney did a fantastic job taking care of our two cats. She was responsive, kind, and able to adapt when things got ugly with the weather. We came home to two happy, healthy cats and a clean house. We will definitely ask Sydney to watch our girls again!!”

About: Hi! I’m a college student at Penn state university with 4–5 years of experience caring for pets. Friends and family have trusted me to feed, bathe, walk, and love their animals like my own. I’m responsible, attentive, and genuinely enjoy spending time with all kinds of pets. Thank you for considering me to care for your amazing companion! Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine. I plan my days around my availability and make sure I have enough time to give each pet the attention, care, and playtime they need. Whether it's feeding, grooming, or just keeping a cat company, I treat it like a priority not a side task. I also stay flexible so I can adjust to each pet’s unique routine and needs. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I prioritize creating a calm and familiar environment by following the pet’s routine as closely as possible. I pay close attention to body language and other cues to understand how the pet is feeling, and I give them the space or affection they need based on their comfort level. I know that trust takes time, especially with animals, and I’m always patient, gentle, and respectful of their boundaries. My goal is to make each pet feel safe, seen, and cared for while their family is away.
About: I have been taking care of dogs most of my life whether it be the 2 dogs that have been part of my family or taking care of neighbors dogs when they are out of town. I currently work part time so my schedule for pet care is very flexible and I would be available at most hours of the day. I have experience taking care of older dogs who just need someone to hang out with and I’ve taken care of younger hyper dogs that warrant extra attention. I am comfortable walking dogs on and off leash and crating them if need be.

About: I’m a reliable and caring pet sitter with hands-on experience looking after a variety of animals, including dogs, cats, and small pets. I’m comfortable with feeding schedules, administering basic medications, walking, playtime, and providing plenty of attention to keep pets happy and stress-free while their owners are away. I understand that every pet has unique needs and personalities, so I take the time to follow instructions carefully and build trust with both pets and owners. My goal is to ensure your pet feels safe, comfortable, and well cared for at all times. Pet care fits naturally into my daily and weekly routine since I work remotely from home and have a flexible schedule. Being home throughout the day allows me to provide consistent attention, regular potty breaks, feeding, and companionship without long gaps in supervision. I’m able to easily adjust my work hours to accommodate walks, playtime, and any specific care needs, including medications or special routines. On a weekly basis, my flexibility also allows me to take on longer visits, overnight stays, or last-minute bookings, ensuring pets receive reliable and attentive care whenever needed. I prioritize following each pet’s routine and any specific instructions to ensure their well-being and reduce stress. I take time to build trust with pets through patience, gentle handling, and consistent care, helping them feel secure while their owners are away. I also maintain a clean, safe environment by monitoring surroundings, preventing potential hazards, and ensuring pets are always supervised appropriately. My goal is to create a calm, reliable space where pets feel at ease and owners can feel confident their animals are in good hands.
“Zoe took excellent care of Meatball even coming out after 9pm for final feeding . We will definitely use her again. She kept us updated each day with photos. Thanks !!”

About: I’ve cared for many dogs and have owned several pets myself. I’ve had a Siamese cat and a Russian Blue, and I currently have a dachshund. As an animal science student preparing for a career in veterinary medicine, I’m passionate about giving pets loving, reliable, and attentive care. As a student, I have a flexible schedule that allows me to give pets plenty of attention throughout the day. I’m available to help with weekday or weekend care depending on the service, and I make time for feeding, walks, potty breaks, playtime, and lots of love. Your pet’s safety and comfort are always my top priority. I provide a clean, calm, and attentive environment, and I carefully follow each pet’s normal routine and any instructions you leave. I want every pet to feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while they are with me.
About: I’ve taken care of dogs of all sizes, from shih tzus to golden retrievers, and can also cater to special requirements. Past experiences have included no teeth, joint pain, and diabetes. I am currently a full time student, and would prefer to have visits /walks in the evening. However, under special circumstances, a day visit can be arranged. I will respect the boundaries of the dog, starting off slow and gaining their trust before anything else. I’m no stranger to skittish dogs, and sometimes it just takes a bit of time, but most if not all do warm up.
About: I have taken care of family and friends dogs for the past 4 years, both while living in college and while at home. I have experience working with mainly teenage to older dogs, but have some experience working with younger dogs when my family got our first dogs. I am currently in law school here at Penn State and would be available most weekday nights! I can also help on the weekends, but am often traveling for school. With my school work being tiring and often not fun, being able to spend time with dogs, both just hanging out at night and playing in the yard is something I am more than happy to offer! I love dogs and will be very attentive to their needs during my time with them, from any quirky needs they have to keeping on their schedule to make them as comfortable as possible.
“Came over ever day to feed our cats, grab any mail we gad gotten, watered the plants also, and brought in our mail. Really great people that will take good care of your animals while your gone.”

About: I’ve always had a love for animals and have spent years caring for dogs. I am comfortable with pets of all ages and energy levels, whether that means going on long walks, playing fetch, or just keeping them company. I always treat every pet like they are my own. Safety, comfort, and happiness are my top priorities and I am committed to making sure your furry friends feels loved while you’re gone. I am currently a student at Penn State University. I am Tuesday and Thursday anytime and Monday, Wednesday, Friday before 11 am and after 4 pm. I am always going on walks, so would love to take your furry friends with me! I will follow your directions whether that be long walks or just letting your animals out in the yard. Safety is super important to me and I will always make sure to follow your instructions!
“This was my first time using Rover and didn't know what to expect. Totally pleased with my experience. Carla did an outstanding job dealing with my dogs. She clearly knows how to deal with dogs and had no trouble getting my less than polite dog to warn up to her. I got plenty of pictures and updates. Carla even went above and beyond and washed the dishes I had prepared dog dinners in. Wasn't necessary but she clearly takes pride in what she does. She even got the best picture anyone had taken of my two. I'm totally please and will not hesitate to use Carla again. Highly recommend.”

“Esmee did an incredible job taking care of my cat Teto over the winter period. They were always on time and did everything I had asked of them, and more! They were incredibly attentive and would play with him each day. I'd highly recommend Esmee to anybody who's looking for a reliable and sweet pet sitter. They also sent me sweet photos of him every day!”

About: I’ve had the joy of being the on-call sitter for a family for over 10 years, taking care of their special needs cats, feral cats, and senior dog. I have walked the dogs of my senior neighbors for years before owning my own sweet black lab. I am comfortable with dogs of all ages, senior or puppy. I’m currently working part time after moving to Minnesota from Illinois. I am available in the mornings to early afternoon through the week and weekend. I am a reliable sitter with years of experience in emergency medicine, I do not practice in the field anymore but I am someone you can trust and count on. I can easily crate your dog if provided!
About: A wide variety of animals have always been a part of my family. I have been responsible for dogs of many different breeds, ages, and temperaments in both personal and professional settings, but I also have experience caring for many other species (cats, ferrets, birds, RATS<3, etc.). I would be delighted to provide care for any of your small/exotic animals as well. I believe all animals deserve our utmost respect and love, and I consider the opportunity to care for animals to be a privilege. I will love and care for your animals as if they were my own! I work full time, but I love caring for and spending time with animals whenever possible. Just let me know what your animal's needs are and we can figure something out. I am a very detail oriented person, especially when it comes to animal health and safety. From playtime and enrichment, to any special needs, I will ensure your animal has everything they need to thrive.
“Laura is the absolute best! I have a rescue dog who is very skeptical of new people, and after using Laura a second time, he has really warmed up to her and trusts her which is a HUGE accomplishment. He normally does not take a treat or play fetch with new people, and he did with her! In addition to her ability to understand my dogs needs and his behavior, I appreciate that she communicates and gives updates after each check-in. It makes me feel so comfortable when traveling and not stressed. Thanks again, Laura!”

About: As a child, my family had a Maltese since he was a puppy and he lived until the age of 15 years old. His life expectancy was around 7 years old, so he was a senior dog. I learned how to take care of my dog at a young age and was responsible for taking care of him. Now, my parents and I have a puppy named Shylo Esch. He is a mix of Bernese mountain dog and mini poodle. I have attended puppy class with him at Manners N' More in Bellefonte, PA. I also frequently walk my family friend's dog who is a Labrador retriever. I grew up around dogs and learning to and caring for them, I have a deep love for taking care of dogs. I work a part-time job throughout the week, with an open availability of being scheduled (shifts can range between 5:30 am-midnight) of anywhere between 20-35 hours. Dog sitting is my happy & rewarding "side hustle". 😁 I usually have a few appointments scheduled every other week and make plans with friends/family whenever we have time. My calendar is left open as my work schedule is variable. I only block out days I will be traveling out of town. When considering booking dog care, I make sure I have the availability for your pup(s) and communicate with you about it. My baby dog, Shylo Esch, has been spoiled by my parents with many toys and treats. He is treat motivated from his puppy training, leashed for outdoor walks and goes in his crate when nobody is home. I hold myself to a strong work ethic when caring for dogs by creating a disciplined yet empathetic stance when caring for fur babies or elderly dogs. In my clients home, I closely follow the rules and duties of the care they require to care for their dogs. I set up a meet n' greet with the dog and owner before committing. I like to meet the dog beforehand to see if we are a good fit by interacting, playing with or taking them on a walk with the owner around their usual route in order to gauge their temperament and comfortability with me. I ask various questions about how the owner takes care of the dog, so I can best follow their lead. I ask about daily routine activities, food schedule, treat frequency, walking time, habits, likes, dislikes, etc. I prefer to follow the daily routine and activities that the dog is used to in order to keep them on track while their owner is away. Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Houserville
We left for Europe for two weeks and we chose Jana to watch after our sweet little kitty. We are so happy to have done so. She is so professional, so caring and grew a connection with our boy. We are so happy with everything Jana did and all her drop in visits. We would HIGHLY recommend her to anyone.

This was our first time using Suki for our cats and she was GREAT! She said she would do evening feed at 5 pm and morning feed at 6:30 am and she arrived at exactly those times. She fed everyone, changed waters, cleaned litter boxes, cleaned up cat bowls from prior feeding and left everything exactly as she found it. We would absolutely recommend Suki and will use her as our petsitter again!
Carla was amazing! She came to meet our two dogs prior to watching them for us. We were a bit hesitant to use a service as our usual pet sitter was going to be out of town. Carla was delightful and we trusted her immediately to care for our girls. She sent us great pictures of our dogs while we were away. You can tell she is a true animal lover. Carla is very calm, professional, caring and communicated with us in a timely manner. She even picked up our mail for us, which was appreciated. We recommend her without hesitation. We will definitely have her take care of our beloved pets again.

Miri was AMAZING with my two kitty girls! She went above and beyond - took great care of them. She was very communicative & took so many photos (in which the girls looked SO relaxed - my senior cat even came out for visits which is very unusual, sitters rarely see her)! My only complaint is that I wish I had booked her sooner during my time at PSU - she is a fantastic sitter who has her own cats & really has such a good vibe! Thank you Miri!!!! 🫶🏻🐾

Laura is the absolute best! Thanks again, Laura!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
