“Jeff provided an amazing experience for our dog, Vinnie. We received pictures each day , allowing us to feel comfortable and know Vinnie was in good hands. He is nurturing, kind, and very experienced. The accommodations for the pups were top notch and we are happy to have this option for Vinnie going forward. Thank you Jeff!”

“Donna is absolutely great, very nice, accommodating and very punctual. She sent many pictures with our dog, who seemed very happy and well taken care of. We are very pleased to have met her and shall definitely contact her again for future bookings. Thank you, Donna!”

“I cannot recommend Stephen enough. He took amazing care of our Buddy while we were away. He communicated and sent us videos and updates every day. He was cautious when introducing Buddy to the other dogs in his care and we had a meet and greet prior to the stay which I appreciate, he goes above and beyond to make sure the dogs in his care are compatible to keep all dogs safe. I look forward to using him in the future and I know Buddy will too. You can see that dogs in Stephens care are treated as his own and that is so comforting when leaving your dog in his care.”

“My dog had a great time, we were very nervous for it being our first time leaving our dog, and Maria made us feel comfortable and reassured us that our dog would be fine, he was. Thank you Maria and your mom!”

“Stephanie took amazing care of my two older pups. Her home was welcoming, and her pets had a blast with their new playmates while we were out of town, Stephanie provided consistent updates and photos, we were able to relax and enjoy our getaway knowing they were in good hands. I will definitely be returning!”

About: I just got out of the Army after 8 years and had my best friend with me the whole way, a German Shepard named Mac. Sadly he passed about a year ago and I would love to have a new companion but I'm going back to school in the fall and need to focus on that. However, in the mean time I have the whole summer free to care for other's dogs. I live in a house with a large, fenced in yard and all the free time in the world. I'd love to have a dog to play with a d go on walks with. I currently have no obligations until January so I can devote 100% of my time and energy to your pup. Their care will be my full-time job. I have a large, fenced in yard and no other pets or children. I live on a large street perfect for walks and near the rail trail too.
“We were so grateful for Mario who helped us with this last minute accommodation for our high energy puppy! He happily took on the challenge of watching our endless, bouncing ball of energy and shared lots of updates throughout the weekend to keep our minds at ease. His communication was excellent and our dog returned happy and tired.”

“Catherine was great. Duke enjoyed being with her. She walked him and took great care of him. She updated us all through the day and sent photos. We will ask her to take care of him again.”

“Wanda is the best! She always takes such good care of our anxious little toy poodle. On this stay, our dog needed medicine twice a day that he didn’t want to take. I felt so badly about putting Wanda in that position, but she got creative and found a way to make him accept the medicine more easily. I can’t recommend Wanda highly enough! We wouldn’t want to leave our dog with anyone else.”

About: I have grown up with animals my entire life. Starting with dogs, cats, pigs, cows, goats and fish. Caring for a pet builds patience, empathy, and unconditional love. In addition to caring for my personal pets I also help take care of dogs with our neighbors before and at work with one dog and two cats. I’m currently working part time after school hours Monday to Thursday so basically free during the day and can work all day Friday plus weekend if needed but it really depends on the time or day you need I will accommodate. I have a small backyard and extra room which we normally call sunroom for now with one of my dogs that can accompany your dog. I can easily crate your dog as well if needed. I have one in my house that my dog stopped using for a while.
“David is great! He kept me updated the whole time while he was with Kali. He gave Kali plenty of exercise and attention; she came home and went straight to her bed. Will definitely stay with David again.”

“Lyanne and her husband were amazing with my dogs — plenty of exercise, lots of cuddles, and daily photo and video updates. Such a friendly couple who certainly have my recommendation. Thank you both!”
“Jomini and her family gave our dog Piper a home away from home! She got a lot of affections, walks, and was treated like a member of the family! I was sent daily updates with pictures. Jomini coordinated with me fairly last minute and I appreciate her flexibility! Would absolutely book again.”

About: I’ve cared for dogs at different life stages, including raising a dog from puppyhood and providing dedicated care for a senior rescue. I also have experience administering medication, including for dogs with congestive heart failure. I’m attentive to routines, behavior changes, and understand the importance of patience, consistency, and safety in pet care. I work part-time and am available for pet care on weekdays after 1 PM and on weekends. I plan my schedule to provide consistent attention, including walks, feeding, and medication routines. I’m reliable with timing and make sure each dog’s routine is followed closely. I provide a calm, structured home environment that works well for gentle, low-energy, or senior dogs. I have two young children who are taught to respect dogs’ space, so I only accept dogs that are comfortable around kids and have a calm temperament. While my yard is not fenced, all outdoor time is supervised and dogs are kept safely leashed. I do not have other pets, allowing me to give your dog focused, one-on-one attention. I follow routines closely, including medications, feeding schedules, and any special care instructions. I require a meet-and-greet to ensure a good fit for everyone’s safety and comfort.
About: I have been pet sitting dogs for over 7 years! When a dog comes into my home they are part of the family and have free range of the house. We do not crate board unless that’s what the owner wants. Caring, calm and cozy home for your dogs next stay! I am a stay at home mom that loves animals. So caring for dogs and other pets is just another part of my daily routine! I provide care exactly how the owner wants. Feeding and walking schedules are done as requested by the owner! I can administer medication if needed and any other service that may be requested. I am flexible and caring, and can adjust to any needed routine!

“Cici was wonderful with Ruby! I had another rover fall through and Cici worker with me to find a solution. We were able to have a very slow and steady meet and greet. It gave Ruby a ton of confidence for the stay. All the updates about how my pup was fitting in with her family were great. She handled the pup well. Would highly recommend”

“First of all, I was super nervous to leave my precious Teddy with someone we didn't know (and the first time he'd have been left with someone we didn't know) & Rebecca was fantastic! Kept me in the loop with how teddy was doing, got him calmed down cause he was nervous too/ sent me photos of my lil guy throughout his stay with them... I couldn't say enough good things about our experience! Teddy seemed to love them too and that's what matters to me. I'll definitely be wanting Rebecca to watch him on our future summer adventures where pups aren't allowed. THANKS SO MUCH!”

“Stefany and her family were so sweet and wonderful to my pup! I felt very secure that he was in good hands. He warmed up to her and there adorable dog, Bently, right away. I would recommend her and plan to use her again!”

“We will definitely be coming back to Danielle. Our two dogs got lots of attention in her home. In the past, our dogs would show signs of stress after being in a kennel. No signs of stress this time. I was really pleased to see how happy they were. Danielle, From our family to yours, "thank you for taking such good care of our girls.' Regards, Peter”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Hillside Lake home-away-from-home, packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Hillside Lake.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Hillside Lake sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
