“Samantha stayed in our home with our two girls. She updated me everyday and was a very respectful house guest! Everything was tidy and just where we had left it. The girls were happy and I doubt they missed us at all 😂. I would definitely recommend Sam!”

“Katie was great, so many photo updates of our dog and cat while we were gone. Everything went super smoothly, she even wanted to make sure our dog had a clean face from eating her wet food. Would absolutely book again.”

“Briana was absolutely amazing again! We were so lucky that she was available on somewhat short notice. She is wonderful with our dogs and is so good with communicating and providing updates. She even found a gap in care that I had missed in my planning.”

“We have never had a pet sitter before, and our 4 cats do well on their own for a few nights, but our new puppy needed care while we traveled out of state. Megan was fantastic! She asked clarification questions we wouldn't have thought of, took excellent care of all our fur kiddos, and we loved her updates and photos throughout the sitting experience. Our home was as we left it and Megan was genuinely enjoyable to interact with! Additionally, she is a veterinary technician and that provides extra comfort. Our kitties and puppy would gladly hang out with Megan again!”

“Nico watched our cavapoo named Rufus for four nights while we traveled out of state. They gave us daily updates, which were always of our dog at play and having fun. They left the house in perfect shape. And we would definitely go with Nico again in the future.”

About: Dogs, cats, horses, pigs, I’ve taken care of them all. From the smallest of animals to the largest I have experience the mental aptitude to handle multiple animals. I have taken on rescue dogs, and cats for 3+ years, and been the go to person by friends and family for watching their pets for extended periods. For our boarding dogs I can provide free bathing, safe paw clipping (granted the dog allows it), minor grooming of small dogs, a safe and fun environment. I’m currently living with my boyfriend so the dogs will get double the loving. He is a full time work from home employee with the leisure of working on his own time and pace. I’m a freelance graphic designer with the ability put all my needs towards animals at a moments notice. With the purchase of our house, and our family living near by we hardly travel and can accept pets at a moments notice. Our house is barebones with not a lot to get into. With the addition of multiple pets we understand that some animals may get anxious. We have the ability to separate animals between areas of the house (upstairs and downstairs) while providing them plenty of room still, and walks done individually at the clients request. Our most unique feature is all walks can safely be performed on our own land and doesn’t need to be done in busy areas. We sit on 2.5 acres perfect for walking, and for the more adventurous dogs we have 20 acres just across the street. We require all dogs to be treated with a flea and tick medicine, if you think your dogs medicine will lapse while in our care feel free to leave it with us and we will get it applied. Fleas are an unfortunate common occurrence especially when you have a large amount of dogs come in for boarding, day care and more.
About: I’m a previous human early child care provider starting a new venture as a pet care provider and an artist. I’ve loved and taken care of pets my entire life. The skills of having worked with non-verbal children translates very well to pet care as I’m able to pick up on a lot of queues your pet gives me to provide loving care. Also, consistency is very important. We currently have a French bulldog, pet rats, and a newt. I’m looking to develop long term relationships with several families. Please kindly reach out if you are interested in becoming a part of my pet care family! I’ve walked, run, played with, boarded, done overnights, and I’m comfortable administering medicine to pets of all kinds. I also do pet portraits so please reach out if you are interested. I’m currently working as a part time artist. I have a lot of availability from Monday through Friday from 9am-4pm each day. I will work on weekends by special request. I’m happy to meet and discuss your pets needs so I can provide the personalized care you are in need of receiving. My home is very spacious with 2 floors. We have a beautiful backyard and neighborhood great for walks and playing.
“Kathleen looked after our dog Luna for 3 nights and did a fantastic job. I get a little nervous about leaving Luna on trips, but Kathleen's updates, photos and videos erased those worries. Luna had a lot of fun and was in great hands. Highly recommended!!”

“Yolanda did a fantastic job with my dog. He is 14 years old and has special needs. He has a seizure disorder ,chronic recurrent bladder infections, Liver disease and many other medical issues. Yolanda did a fantastic job keeping up with all of his pills and all of his walks!! She was very communicative with me and patient with the very very detailed instructions that I gave her for his care. I went away for almost 7 days which I am usually very uncomfortable doing but because of her regular communication with me. asking thoughtful questions and her close attention to detail, I felt completely at ease and was not worried for my dogs safety like I often am with some sitters. She is very reliable and has Integrity. You will be making a great choice by choosing Yolanda!!!!”
“We needed a house sitter since our dog can get nervous in new places, and Claudia took such good care of him and followed all of our instructions, and sent us so many adorable pics. Plus, I’m convinced she left our place cleaner than we did. Highly recommend Claudia and will be asking for her help with dog sitting in the future!”

“Jennifer did a great job watching our dogs and cat (and bunny). Even with rough weather and power outages, the animals were in good hands. Thank you for keeping them healthy, happy and entertained.”

“Kayla is amazing! She took such good care of Bealey! She was flexible and worked with me too since I had a change in travel plans! I appreciate her so much and will definitely ask for her in the future!”

“Sara did a wonderful job with watching our pups while we were gone. They were calm and not anxious when we returned. They were well loved. The house looked great when we returned too! We highly recommend Sara!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Hanover
Great sitter! Angelina and her partner watched our three pups and house sat for us over ten days. We received daily updates and she was very communicative about how the dogs were. She offered to water plants, take out trash, and even cleaned before we returned. Will hire again!

Lizbeth and Nahomy took great care of our cats, one of who needed daily medicine and an inhaler. They were open and communicative with lots of information and pictures. They took good care of the house and even cleaned up more than I was expecting! We would love to book with them again.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Hanover walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Hanover maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Hanover choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
