“Samantha has cared for our dog (and home) twice now. Again we returned home to a happy pup and clean home. Samantha kept us informed and sent photos, and I wholeheartedly recommend her.”

“We have used Morgan a couple of times now and I can’t say enough about how wonderful she is!! She loves our babies like they are her own, she is amazing at texting me and sending me pictures of them while we are gone, and it is just so nice to know that I’ve left our home and animals in the care of such a great person. Hands down recommend her everytime!”

“Tabitha is WONDERFUL! My dog is very emotionally needy (has anxiety), and I needed a sitter very last minute. Tabitha came to the rescue and was so attentive with Franny and did such a good job with her! I really trust her and i can’t wait to use her again 🙂”

“This was the first time Erica watched our dogs and she was great at communicating, sending pictures, and keeping us informed. We feel very comfortable having her watch the dogs again.”

“Destinee was amazing, she took care of my two dogs for a full day, and i can confirm they were great took care, meals and walks on time, always asking how she can help, it was a great experience for me and my dogs, if i ever need someone to take care of my dogs any other day I’ll absolutely go with her with no hesitation!!”

About: I’ve been a pet owner most of my life and have taken care of pets for friends, family, and neighbors. I am the one they always rely on to care for there’s pets and I hope to do the same for you. I’m currently looking for a job, so I will have lots of free time to care for your pets, and with flexible scheduling to what days you might need. Caring for pets at the client’s home I would make sure to ask where they keep the food, treats, toys for the pets, and cleaning supplies just in case if they make an accident by chance.
“Dorothy was great with my dogs, and sent me pictures each day I was away. They loved her! I was comfortable and had little worry about how they well they would be taken care of. She may have spoiled them more then me. Would recommend her and will be using her services again.”

“Emma dogsat at my house for a week and she did a great job with my dog. She communicated with me often, so I always knew that Ada was well-cared for. Emma left the house tidy, and is prompt and reliable. I would hire her again and recommend her to others!”

“We cannot say enough positive things about our experience using Keira to help sit with our corgi, Francis. She came for a Meet & Greet prior to scheduled date and we so appreciated that. She gets high marks for her continuous communication, pictures and follow up note outlining time schedule of activity with Francis. Our dog responded well to her and seemed very relaxed in her company. We highly recommend Keira to others who want top notch care for any of their pets. She is mature, responsible and very professional in the services she offers. We will definitely use her again for Francis! Thank you to both Rover & Keira for offering such high quality services for pet owners who require only the best care for their furry family members!!”

“This review is a little late - but better late than never. Jason house/pet sat for us over the Christmas holiday and was great. From the first meet and greet with the dogs, who would normally bark and jump, his calming presence was amazing. They did not jump, a little barking but he walked in said hi to both by name and that was it. He took great care of our 2 dogs, 2 turtles and 2 fish as well as brining in mail, packages, etc. I would highly recommend Jason and hopefully will have the pleasure of booking with him again in 2022.”

About: I’ve been on rover for multiple years now, and I love to meet new pets and make new friends. Even if they aren’t the most friendly I’ll be there if you need help I’m currently working remotely part-time with a pretty flexible schedule. Weekends and Holidays I’m free the most. I walk multiple dogs a week, but I’m open for dog sitting I believe a tired pet is a happy pet. I keep them active with walks, fetch, or playtime tailored to their energy level. For cats, I love using wand toys to find what they like the most. I always follow the pet’s routine and make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved.
“Emily was extremely professional, attentive, and caring with my cats while she house sat for me over the weekend during my trip to Maine. It gave me so much peace of mind knowing all four of my cats were accounted for, fed, and cared for, and I really appreciated the check-in photos and updates throughout the weekend. She let me know when they had breakfast, when she was heading out for the night, and kept their routine consistent while I was away. Emily was kind, friendly, and wonderful with my animals. I highly recommend her as a pet sitter — she did an amazing job!”

“Kathleen stayed with our pets for a long weekend - a dog (often reactive to other dogs) and 2 indoor cats. Everything went very smoothly. We were kept informed with texts and pictures and none of the pets looked like they missed us AT ALL!! The dog even slept with Kathleen one night. When we got home, it was apparent Kathleen had cleaned up our house, leaving us very little to do which was a hugely welcome gift from her. We definitely will book with Kathleen again.”

“Cory was great! She took the time during our meet and greet to get to know our doggies, and they immediately loved her. She gave consistent updates with pictures during the weekend, and I didn’t worry once. We’ve had a difficult time finding someone to care for our dogs, so we’re SO happy that we found Cory.”
“Liz was a phenomenal sitter. We loved her warmth and kindness. Our baby gravitated to her right away. Liz made us feel comfortable which allowed us to go away a feel extremely comfortable. She communicated throughout the entire time and ensured us that everything was going smoothly. We hope to work with Liz again!”

“I am incredibly grateful to have found Donald for my little guy, Jagger! Leaving your furry baby with someone new can be nerve-wracking, but Donald made the whole experience so comfortable for both of us. From our first meet-and-greet, his warm and welcoming energy put me- and Jagger- at ease. He maintained excellent communication throughout the stay, sending frequent updates and adorable pictures of my cuddly but sometimes clingy and anxious 4.5-year-old pup. It was clear from the photos and Jagger’s relaxed demeanor when I returned that he was not only well cared for but genuinely happy. Donald was also respectful of my home, making the entire process seamless. He will definitely be my go-to sitter in Baltimore. Highly recommend!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Elkridge
Lizbeth and Nahomy took great care of our cats, one of who needed daily medicine and an inhaler. They were open and communicative with lots of information and pictures. They took good care of the house and even cleaned up more than I was expecting! We would love to book with them again.

Tabitha was great with our puppy and cat. She took our puppy out so frequently that he only had one accident ( that doesn’t happen for us). She was very communicative and sent pictures everyday. She left the house perfect and Teddy was his happy self when we got home. We will definitely use her again.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Elkridge walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Elkridge maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Elkridge choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
