“Maureen is beyond helpful, kind and knowledgeable when it came to taking care of my cat Kolo. I received very detailed updates on how he was doing and many useful pieces of information to better take care and make him more comfortable. Maureen really went out of her way to make Kolo feel comfortable, and even brought him toys, treats and a gift that I will cherish for a long time. I will be using her services again and feel very blessed to have had her take care of my cat. Would highly recommend to anyone!!”

“Kevin was awesome - he was able to help out on short notice, followed all of our directions, and provided updates on how the dogs were doing. We’ll definitely use him again!”

“Sahba is great! She really cares for my cats and makes an effort to pet and play with my shy cat who’s always hiding, first person ever to actually try! She’s very sweet with them and gives them real quality time and love. I would not trust my cats to anyone else!”

“Sasha is the kind of sitter you hope to find on Rover and then never want to lose. 💛 This was our second time booking with her, and after having several other wonderful sitters, we can confidently say she is 100% our new go-to for our cat, Seaweed. Her level of care, attentiveness, communication, & genuine empathy is truly exceptional. Seaweed requires oral medication 2x daily, and Sasha handles her meds + entire routine flawlessly while still making each visit feel like actual quality time with her: snugs, scratches, playtime, treats, hangouts, & lots of love! Her experience with animals is obvious, and we have SO much peace of mind traveling knowing our little Weed is in incredibly capable hands. She consistently goes above & beyond, whether it’s helping keep Seaweed comfortable during a heat wave, taking care of little things around the house, spending extra time with her, or simply noticing the small details that show how closely she’s paying attention. And somehow, on top of everything else, she takes the absolute cutest/silliest photos of Seaweed we’ve ever seen. 🥹😂 We truly adore Sasha and cannot recommend her highly enough. She’s dependable, knowledgeable, compassionate, proactive, & genuinely loves the animals in her care. We feel incredibly lucky to have found her and will absolutely keep booking her whenever she’ll have us! 🤗🙏”

“Bobbie is exceptional! She was able to comfort my two very shy cats while we were away. They get depressed and anxious whenever we take a trip. Bobbie sent photos and videos through out her visit. I would definitely recommend her!”

“McKenzie took great care of our cats, Pepper and Oscar, while we were away. She did drop-in visits, made sure they were fed and checked on, and kept us at ease the whole time. We came home to two happy cats and everything in great shape. Would definitely book her again!”

“Amanda is the best she came in sight unseen to care for my barky little rescue dog, she immediately gained her trust and they had a wonderful time together. Absolutely recommend her!”

“Gretchen was really great with Suni and spent some time with him outside. She sent photos and updates during the hour and put up with the process to kennel him when she was leaving. We would definitely book with her again.”

“Rachel was fantastic and did a fantastic job with our cats. She did everything we asked of her, stayed in contact with us, and did more than we asked, showing extra love to our disabled cat.”

About: I have cared for dogs since I was about 7 years old. I’ve owned or have pet sat for all ages, sizes, and breeds. From puppies, to 15 year old doggos, I’ve got your back! I am currently a student, so making a couple of pup friends sounds like a great way to spend time outside, get active, and be helpful! I have a fenced yard and two cats. I always walk dogs on a leash, on the sidewalk, in well lit, pet-friendly/safe areas. I have multiple dog parks nearby that I would be open to taking your dog to (upon request only).

About: Hi, I’m Rhonda! I’ve had dogs and cats in my life for as long as I can remember, and I understand how important it is to feel completely comfortable with the person caring for your pets while you’re away. I offer house sitting, boarding, and drop-in care for both dogs and cats. I enjoy getting to know each pet’s personality and routine and providing care that feels familiar and reassuring to them. I’m experienced with senior pets and oral medications. I treat every pet and home with the same care and respect I do my own. I work part-time primarily from home, so I’m able to spend most of the day with the pets in my care. I may occasionally be away for a few hours for appointments, errands, or evening commitments, but I’m home the majority of the time and can provide plenty of companionship and attention. For boarding, I accept pets from only one family at a time so they can have a quieter, more relaxed stay with plenty of individual attention. I have two resident cats, Gizmo and Truffle, so dogs staying in my home need to be comfortable around cats. For in-home pet sitting, I’m happy to help keep things running smoothly while you’re away. I can bring in mail and packages, put trash and recycling bins out and bring them back in, water plants, and take care of other small household tasks as needed. I’ll also send regular photo updates and reach out if I have any questions or concerns.

About: I’ve been around dogs my whole life and absolutely love spending time with them! I have 3+ years of professional dog grooming experience, so I’m very comfortable handling dogs of all different sizes, personalities, and energy levels. I also work with animals every day, so caring for pets is something I genuinely enjoy. I have two dogs of my own, and my home has always had a dog in it. I’m reliable, patient, and consistent, and I always do my best to make pets feel safe, comfortable, and loved while their owners are away. I know how important it is to trust someone with your pet, and I’ll treat them like one of my own! I am currently a full time dog groomer, working 9-5, Friday-Tuesday. I am able to check in with your pup at least twice a day. Before and after work. For any type of visit, I’m happy to tailor the time to your pup’s needs! We can go on a 30-minute walk, play some fun games, enjoy some cuddles, or just relax together. Whether your pup is full of energy or prefers a more laid-back visit, I’ll make sure they get plenty of attention, love, and care. 🐾 At my home, I have a decent-sized fenced backyard with turf where pups can safely enjoy some outdoor playtime. If your pup is high-energy, we can spend time outside playing and getting some exercise. If they’re more relaxed, they’re welcome to stay inside, cuddle up, and chill. For visits at your home, I can take your pup on a walk, play games, give them plenty of attention, or simply hang out with them depending on their energy level and what they enjoy most. My goal is to make every visit fun, comfortable, and tailored to your pup’s needs! 🐾

“I’m so happy we stumbled upon Narges profile. She was super communicative from the start. She happily hopped on a facetime with us so we could be crazy cat ladies and explain the idiosyncrasies of feeding our cats. Every text exchange felt like it was with a friend …She sent pictures of our cats to us which made us so happy on vacation. 10/10 recommend Narges! :)”

About: I have grown up my whole life with dogs, and have raised my own for the last 15 years! I love animals of all kinds, and spend my free time bringing my dog wherever he can go- the beach, hikes, parks, you name it! I would treat your beloved fur babies the same way I treat mine. My dog also gets along great with other dogs, just happy to have someone to play with. My neighbors in my courtyard also all have dogs, and they often all play outside together. I am a teacher, so I get home before 4pm every day. My days are quick, and I'll be home with the dogs for hours on end. On the weekend, I will spend my time outside reading, while the dogs play and bask in the sun. I live in a new apartment building in El Cajon. Im a teacher so I’m home for the summer, and I love bringing them on long walks.

About: I have been around dogs and cats for most of my life and have always enjoyed the companionship and care that comes with having pets. I understand that every pet has their own personality, routine, and needs, and I take pride in providing patient, attentive, and loving care. I also regularly care for my dad’s small dog when he is out of town, including walks, feeding, companionship, and making sure she feels safe and comfortable. I would treat your pets with the same care and attention I would give my own. Pet care fits easily into my weekly routine, and I am available Monday through Wednesday before 5:00 PM. I have a flexible daytime schedule and enjoy being able to provide reliable, attentive care, including walks, check-ins, feeding, and companionship. I’m happy to work with your pet’s individual routine and needs. I understand that caring for a pet also means being respectful of their home. I will treat every client’s home with the same care and respect I would my own, keeping things clean and orderly, following any instructions provided, and making sure doors, gates, and other areas are secure. My goal is to give pet parents peace of mind knowing both their pets and their home are in responsible, trustworthy hands.

About: As a former veterinary assistant with five years of hands-on experience, I have cared for dogs and cats of all ages, breeds, and temperaments. My background has given me the skills to recognize changes in behavior, handle pets safely and confidently, and provide compassionate care—even for anxious or special-needs animals. You can trust that your pets will be treated like family, with plenty of love, patience, and attention on every walk. Currently I work full time but I’m looking for a side hustle. I’m open to checking in on your pets after 5pm Mon-Fri if needed and I’m off on weekends so I can be available all weekend. I provide reliable in-home pet care by following your pet’s normal routine, including feeding, walks, playtime, medication (if needed), and keeping their living area clean while you’re away.

About: I’ve been dog and cat sitting for the last 6 years. I’m an animal lover and I own 2 dogs and a bird. I’m currently working part-time so I’m free to take care of your dogs and cats. I’m free in afternoons almost everyday and Fridays completely free. I also can come in during the mornings. I care for pets in your home by feeding, taking them out to the bathroom, playing with them, and giving them love. I also can give medications.
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Grossmont
Aurora was so great with my kitten! She was on time for our pre-meeting and immediately made me feel comfortable leaving my kitten in her care. Her communication while I was away was wonderful. She sent lots of pictures, left detailed notes, and kept me updated throughout my trip. I especially appreciated the attention she gave to actually spending time with my kitten and actively playing with her twice a day, rather than just stopping in to take care of the basics. I was able to relax and enjoy my time away knowing Aurora had everything under control and my kitten was getting lots of attention and love. I would absolutely recommend her!

This was our second time asking Sahba to take care of our cats, and once again she did an amazing job. Sahba asked questions whenever something came up, which gave us peace of mind. She also sent us lots of photos and videos of our cats while we were away. We felt completely comfortable leaving our home and our cats in her care. We highly recommend her!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
