“Gretchen was really great with Suni and spent some time with him outside. She sent photos and updates during the hour and put up with the process to kennel him when she was leaving. We would definitely book with her again.”

“Milla watched my cats for a long trip and she is great at communicating and was very professional. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a pet sitter. She responded quickly when I had questions and my cats really liked her. She kept my space clean and tidy for when I came home as well. Thank you Milla!”

“Amanda was great! She looked after my cat and was amazing with adapting to my crazy schedule. She gave great updates and shared the cutest pictures of my kitty. It was comforting knowing my very social cat was getting some human interaction while I was gone.”

“CJ did a great job with the cats while I was gone for 10 days. He was able to come twice a day and hang out with them and give them the attention they needed. He updated me on everything and was easy to communicate with. He also shared great pictures from each visit! I came home to two happy cats.”

About: I have been taking care of animals for about 10 years and counting. My family has been fostering dogs, of all ages and breeds, since before I can remember. I was taught how to properly care for animals over the years. I am knowledgeable on what your pet needs and ready to care for them while you are away. I’m currently on summer break from school, so I have plenty of time to care for your pet! Very open and flexible availability. Starting the 24th my schedule will change, but my availability will be consistent and will remain flexible. While I am currently not able to care for pets in my own home, I will make sure to clearly communicate with you in order to make sure your needs are met.
“Maureen is amazing, so communicative, and she really cares about your pets! She’s so nice and friendly- all the animals love her! Highly recommend, will definitely book again!”
“Brandy was absolutely wonderful with both our dogs, especially the little senior dog who requires daily medication. Will definitely be rebooking with her in the future. Thank you Brandy!”

“I was really nervous leaving the cats with someone new because 1 is diabetic and can be difficult. Rebecca didn't hesitate to contact me with any questions, which I really appreciate. She took great care of the cats, and left the house clean for our return. I would definitely recommend her.”

About: Hi! I’m Rhonda, I understand that pets are family. Whether you’re away for a weekend or an extended trip, I provide dependable pet sitting and house sitting services so you can travel with peace of mind. As a lifelong animal lover and owner, I enjoy caring for pets of all ages and personalities. I am comfortable with both dogs and cats. My goal is to make sure your pets feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away. I am dependable and treat every home and pet with the same care and respect I give my own. I currently have two cats, Gizmo and Truffle, but I have owned many different types of dogs and cats throughout my entire life. I look forward to meeting you and your furry family members! I am currently self-employed part time and primarily work from home, so I am able to be home with your pets the majority of the time. I might be gone for 1-3 hours some days. It varies. I am happy to care for your pets in your home or mine, including staying overnight. Whether your pet loves walks, playtime, cuddles, or simply a familiar routine, I will provide trustworthy care tailored to them. In my home, I currently have two cats, Gizmo and Truffle. I can board your pets in my home as long as they are comfortable with cats. Both my cats tolerate dogs and cats well. I can also stay at your home while you’re away or do drop in visits/walks/feedings, depending on your preference.
“McKenzie took great care of our cats, Pepper and Oscar, while we were away. She did drop-in visits, made sure they were fed and checked on, and kept us at ease the whole time. We came home to two happy cats and everything in great shape. Would definitely book her again!”

About: I have 5+ years of experience house sitting and pet sitting, mostly for dogs and cats, but I have also cared for small mammals, reptiles, birds, fish, and more! I personally have four kitties, a chocolate lab, two hamsters, and a sulcata tortoise that I love very dearly. I know it can be stressful to trust someone else to care for your animals, so I want to make you feel as comfortable as possible. I currently work full time as a school based therapist but I am typically available evenings, weekends, and some holidays! Feel free to message to confirm availability :) I will always ensure your pets are safe, whether it’s keeping indoor cats inside or making sure the backyard is secure for your dog(s). As I have my own dog and cats, I am very used to taking steps to ensure they don’t get out on accident.
About: We absolutely adore dogs and your little one will be spoiled rotten staying with us. We have experience caring for a special needs dog (our Frenchie was paralyzed for over 5 years before he passed away!). He needed assistance going pee and poop every day; so there is literally no dog who is too challenging for us. We have a huge back yard that is completely secured with a fence. Both of us work from home- so your dog will be closely watched, snuggled and loved throughout the day. While we have small children in the house, they have been trained to treat dogs gently and with love. Rest assured our toddlers will treat your doggy with respect! We will love yours as if they were our own, because we are dog lovers to the bone. It is rare that we ever leave dogs alone in the house, and when it happens it’s usually for a short trip to pick our kids up from school, gymnastics or soccer! One of us is almost always home to monitor and care for the dogs we host! We have a large four bedroom house. When your dog stays with us, our home is their home! We leave the back door open so they have access to our backyard that is completely fenced in and secure. We have AC units downstairs and in our bedroom so dogs (and us!) are comfortable even through the summer heat! We require a meet and greet for all new dogs before we complete the booking. This offers a chance to make sure that your pup feels comfortable in this new environment. It also provides an opportunity to discuss your dogs unique needs prior to the sitting. If we sound like a good fit for you and your doggie, please reach out! We look forward to meeting you and your pup! Both Amy and Sean work from home during the week, so your dogs will have constant attention. We usually “divide and conquer” on the weekends when we have kids activities to manage. So one of us is almost always home! We have a large four bedroom house, with a big backyard (and a hill that is very popular with the dogs we watch)! It is completely fenced in and secure. We also installed a baby gate on our front porch to keep dogs from slipping out when we open the front door!

About: I’ve been dog and cat sitting for the last 6 years. I’m an animal lover and I own 2 dogs and a bird. I’m currently working part-time so I’m free to take care of your dogs and cats. I’m free in afternoons almost everyday and Fridays completely free. I also can come in during the mornings. I care for pets in your home by feeding, taking them out to the bathroom, playing with them, and giving them love. I also can give medications.
“Sahba is great! She really cares for my cats and makes an effort to pet and play with my shy cat who’s always hiding, first person ever to actually try! She’s very sweet with them and gives them real quality time and love. I would not trust my cats to anyone else!”

“Alanis took such great care of my anxious older cat. She followed all my instructions (even those super specific ones we all have for our unique pets?), and she was wonderfully communicative before, during, and after all of her check-ins. I arrived home to a very happy and content kitty who'd clearly had all her needs met while I was away. Thank you so much, Alanis!”

This was our second time asking Sahba to take care of our cats, and once again she did an amazing job. Sahba asked questions whenever something came up, which gave us peace of mind. She also sent us lots of photos and videos of our cats while we were away. We felt completely comfortable leaving our home and our cats in her care. We highly recommend her!

Ashley is my go to cat sitter! I appreciate her flexibility, love and wisdom for animals, and her kind personality. Sola loves her! She takes pictures - keeping me abreast of what’s Sola is up to. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Grossmont. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
