“Lena was WONDERFUL with a very last minute & difficult request. She was so responsive and communicative. We could not ask for a better or more professional / responsible & respectful Rover sitter. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!”

“Willow had the best time with Shelby and her pup Ellie. Instant best friends. I felt totally confident that our 4 year old dog was having a vacation all her own the entire weekend. Lots of time outside, on walks, playing, and snuggling. 100% would recommend and feeling so happy we have a go-to sitter :) thank you guys!”

“Lovely couple with a baby and a toddler. Buffy had to warm up to Parker, their German Shepherd but I hear it went well. Tyler and wife watched Buffy on a holiday, July 4th. They were very gracious when I requested an itinerary change. I felt like they were really attuned to Buff-dog. Will definitely ask again for their assistance.Highly recommend.”

“Belle’s time with Laura and Bunny was great!! My baby was full of life and energy! She definitely enjoyed her time, and I felt very comfortable that she was in good hands! The meet and greet was definitely the kick off to a wonderful stay! Thank you Laura and Bunny for taking such good care of Belle! See your gals soon!!”

“Elaine and her husband were amazing with our two senior Frenchies. She was very responsive, accommodating and professional in setting up the sitting. About: As stated, I have an 8 almost 8 year old German Shepherd myself. I’ve trained him myself to be quite obedient off leash, to listen well, and overall he’s very well behaved. I’ve grown up with dogs, cats, turtles and more so I know my way around animals. I’m currently enlisted in the United States Navy. I work at the Naval Academy typically from around 9 in the morning to about 3pm most days. I’m also married with two kids and my wife is a stay at home mom who can also look after your furry friends as well. I don’t work weekends so I’m always available during the weekends and can be flexible throughout the week as well. At my home my dog is never crated he is always out and house trained. However, when looking after your fur babies if they need to be crated I have no issue catering to your needs. I don’t have a yard but we have a massive field and live in a circle so long walks are always a must. Whatever the needs of your fur babies, I can take care of those from daily dog walking, spending and playing time with your animals, staying over night at yours/my place, and giving g medicine if needed.
“Sofia is the best! She is so calm and kind, and takes special care of my dogs. She is quick to respond to any texts, and keeps me updated with pics and videos. This is my second time hiring her, and I will continue to do so! My dogs perk up so happily when I let them know that they will be seeing Sofia.”

“Absolutely amazing! If we could give more stars we would!! Katie alleviated all of the stress and anxiety about not being able to take Toby on our trip. She treated Toby like her own and made him comfortable and the communication between us was perfect! We fully recommend Katie if you ever need her services and we’ll 1000% book with her again in the future!!!”

“Becca was wonderful. We just adopted our dog 2 months prior to our trip and this was our first time leaving her with anyone. We were really nervous, but Becca's natural love for dogs put us right at ease; she was so kind and patient with our dog. She sent us daily updates and pictures - my daughter loved it! Knowing that our dog was so well cared for, really allowed us to relax and enjoy our vacation!”

“Maurice and Kelly are simply the best. We went out of town and our beloved Biggie unfortunately had a stomach issue the first full day with Maurice and Kelly. They kept us informed of his condition throughout the day and Biggie eventually bounced back to his normal self. We were mentally prepared to end our vacation but Maurice and Kelly handled the issue smoothly. We really appreciate them and our beloved Biggie missed them a bunch.”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in MD ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
