“Justine did an amazing job boarding my golden retriever, Gibson, for 4 nights. Communication was great, drop-off and pickup were easy, and Gibson came home happy and relaxed. It’s clear she genuinely cares about the dogs she watches. I had zero concerns while I was away, and I’d absolutely book with her again. Highly recommend.”

“Theresa is incredible! My pup has so so much fun running around in her yard and playing with the other small dogs she boards. Theresa gives regular updates and I can tell my dog is so happy with her! We’ve boarded with her twice and will definitely go back in the future.”

“Diana is an incredibly caring dog sitter who has been taking care of our beloved Poochon, Kenzi, since she was a puppy. Kenzi seamlessly blends in with Diana’s family and is always treated as a cherished member of their clan. Diana’s home, especially her spacious yard, is a haven for Kenzi, and it’s clear that she loves being there. We couldn’t ask for a better caregiver for our furry family member. Diana is simply the best!”

“Elaine and her husband were amazing with our two senior Frenchies. She was very responsive, accommodating and professional in setting up the sitting. She sent us pics of the pups during the stay and was super flexible with pickup and drop off times. It was the perfect situation for us, we hope Elaine will be able to watch them again in the future.”

“Jasmine was fantastic with our two dogs for 10 days over Christmas! Daily walks and pictures were sent to us. I felt so at peace knowing they were being well taken care of. When our flight times coming home got changed, Jasmine was so understanding and flexible with our pickup. Great experience, highly recommended!”

“Alicia took great care of Blossom. Blossom had a great time over the holiday playing with the kids. I appreciate that Alicia sent pictures and videos every day. I appreciated the family environment for Blossom. I would recommend Alicia she is very good with puppies. I know Blossom can be a handful at times, but Alicia handles her with great care. Blossom was a part of the family while she was there. Thank you so much!”

“Angela was so very warm, welcoming, and kind to our puppy. Minnie took to her right away, and because of the meet and greet, she knew exactly where we were going when we dropped her off. Angela was very thorough, asking all the important questions, and she even let my daughter visit to say hi to Minnie.”

“Marta was fantastic with our 6-month-old Basset Hound, Charlie!! It was my first time ever leaving a pet with anyone and she made it so easy. I received multiple updates each day with pictures, videos and text. It was great to see him with his new friends having such a good time! When I picked Charlie up, five days later, I told her that I never worried about him the entire trip. We missed him, but knew that he was in good hands! I highly recommend Marta and will definitely take Charlie back when needed! Thank you Marta for everything!”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in MD ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
