“We love Nick! My boys always have a great time with him and I always have a worry-free time away from home. I couldn’t be more impressed how well he handles my dogs and how good is his communication”

“Outstanding sitter! She took exceptional care of our dogs and treated them like her own. We were especially grateful for how calmly and confidently she handled Pearl during a low blood sugar episode — it gave us total peace of mind while we were away. She went above and beyond in every way. We came home to happy pups and would absolutely book with her again. Highly recommend!”

“The day before leaving town, our senior dog turned up with a mystery paw injury-which meant he had trouble getting outside, eating, everything. Elena didn’t hesitate to take on the extra work and to give him (plus our other dog and cats) the TLC he needed to heal up. Everyone seemed happy and well cared for when we returned!”

“Kimberly took amazing care of our 2 dogs while we were away for 3 days. She sent pictures and updates daily. The dogs loved being with her and our house was very clean when we got home. I would highly recommend her.”

“Josh and Susan have watched our 2 pups 3 times now and we couldn’t be happier. It’s the best feeling going away and knowing our pets are in good hands. The pics they send are always a great bonus. We will definitely use them again. 😊”

“We couldn’t have asked for a better dog sitter! Julie took such wonderful care of our puppy, and gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. She kept us updated with photos and messages, and it was obvious he was getting plenty of love, attention, and care.”

About: I grew up with dogs in the house, so caring for them comes naturally to me. I also have my own boxer, so I know exactly what it takes to keep a high-energy dog happy and worn out in a good way, long walks and playtime are already part of my daily routine. Over the years I've walked, fed, and watched dogs for neighbors, friends, and family, and I treat every dog like my own. I just graduated college and I'm spending the summer here before law school starts in August, so I have plenty of time and energy to give your dog real attention, not just a rushed walk around the block. I'm currently doing remote LSAT tutoring this summer, which gives me full flexibility during the day. I can build my schedule around what your dog actually needs, whether that's an early morning walk, a midday drop-in, or an evening visit. I also have my own car, so distance isn't an issue and I can get to you reliably, even on short notice. Your pet's safety comes first, every time. On walks, dogs stay leashed the entire time. When I'm in your home, I double-check that doors and gates are locked before I leave, and I never assume — if you tell me your dog needs to stay away from the back gate or can't be off-leash in the yard, I follow that exactly. I stick to feeding and care instructions as written rather than winging it, and if anything's unclear I'll ask you directly instead of guessing. You'll also get photo or video updates during visits, so you're never left wondering how things went while you were out.
About: I enjoy meeting new clients and dogs everyday! Training puppies/ dogs who need help with training/dog language. I like to make sure the clients dog is happy, and enjoying my company. Making sure dogs sit for a treat, is a great way to make sure they know how to sit for a treat! It’s always good practice! It also is good with their food too! I work part time at a doggy daycare in carol stream. I enjoy meeting new clients/ dogs when they are brought into my work! I love to train newer puppies how to play, sit and stay! I have a fenced in yard and I enjoying spending some relaxing time with my pup! I get to play with him outside a lot. Sometimes i like take them on walks together or separately.

“My boys were well taken care of and the house looked like it did when we left! Gavin was communicative through his stay asking questions when needed and keeping me posted on when he arrived/left. Will definitely book with him again!”

“We are so glad we booked Bonnie! It was so nice to be able to not worry about our pets and house while we were out of the country. She went above and beyond to care for our pets and sent us the sweetest updates. Thank you so much!”

“Sarah was great with our 2 dogs and 1 cat. She was flexible with a last minute change and was very communicative throughout including lots of pictures! We look forward to working with her again!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Geneva
Mark took the best care of our pups! My parents and I are typically each others dog sitters but since we both traveling for my brothers wedding we needed someone to watch our pups. He gave us updates and pics of them daily and we could just tell how happy they were. It made us feel at ease being so far away from them. We will always keep Mark mind when we need a sitter!!

We used Bonnie for the first time and we were thouroughly pleased! She was extremly communicative by texting us, sending us picutres along with videos throughout the day, which made us so comfortable and at peace knowing our kiddos were doing fine, in fact great! Bonnie also took great care of our home along with taking care of our outside plants. I would highly recommend Bonnie. I promise you, you wont be dissapointed!

Haley took wonderful care of our high energy dogs, Grace the Maverick! Grace is an 18-month old vocal German Shepherd (large dog), which can be intimidating. Maverick is an active Husky, full of attitude and personality, who takes a little bit to warm up to new people. They both loved Haley and got plenty of walks, backyard play sessions, and snuggles to keep them in their routine and happy while we were away! We got so many quality pictures and updates all week long. We felt confident they were in great hands!

Julie was conscientious with her car of my dog and cats. The animals were happy and well cared for. Julie was careful to ask questions about their needs, and communicated closely with us, while we were gone, so we had no concerns about our pets. I will definitely use her again.
I can't say enough about how happy we were with Megan as our dog sitter. She stayed at our home for an entire week caring for Bandit and kept us updated with regular messages and pictures, which gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. The only problem is that she did such an amazing job that Bandit really misses all the extra attention she gave him! Seriously, Megan is our #1 recommendation. She is caring, reliable, trustworthy, and clearly loves animals. We wouldn't hesitate to use her again, and I highly recommend her to anyone looking for an outstanding dog sitter. You will not be disappointed.

Lexi was a mental health lifesaver for our pup. We had plans to go out of town for the 4th of July, and we were worried about leaving her. Although beautiful to watch, our town’s firework display is shot right over our house. We let Lexi know of our concerns, and she made sure to drive our pup somewhere else where she wouldn’t be afraid of all the booms and lights. Our pup sleeps with people and Lexi made sure that Oakley felt safe through the night. As for our home, Lexi made sure to clean up any messes. She’s a gem! We were so lucky to find her, especially at a time when she could have had other plans. We will definitely be calling on Lexi whenever we need a dog sitter.

I couldn’t have asked for a better pet sitter for my puppy Queenie! From the start it was clear her knowledge of dogs and puppies was far beyond the basics, and the little details made a big difference. She was reliable and trustworthy from the beginning. I never had to worry while being away— she communicated regularly, gave updates, and followed through on every commitment. Highly recommend without reservation! A+++

Maddie was great! She stayed at our house with our 14 year old, blind fur baby, Liz. She kept us well informed throughout the weekend. It was so nice to have a trustworthy sitter and return to a happy, relaxed dog. Liz was in excellent hands, and we could tell she felt completely comfortable and safe with Maddie. We wouldn't hesitate to book her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a compassionate and reliable sitter!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Geneva walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Geneva maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Geneva choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
