“Lydia was absolutely incredible, and I can’t recommend her enough! She stayed at our home while caring for our dog, Covey, and gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. She followed all of our instructions, kept our home spotless, and treated both our dog and our house with so much respect. We came home to a happy pup and a house that looked just as good as when we left. Knowing everything was in such good hands allowed us to fully enjoy our trip without worrying.”

“Emily was awesome she took care of my 3 pups for the weekend while I was attending a wedding out of town she took great care of them sending me updates and pictures I will definitely be using her service again in the future Thank you Emily”

About: I have been fostering animals for 4–5 years, caring for pets ranging from newborn kittens and puppies to senior animals. I am experienced in administering oral and topical medications, subcutaneous fluids, ear cleanings, and more. Animals have been a part of my life since day one, and I have a precious fur baby of my own. I know firsthand how important it is to find someone you can truly trust with your pets and someone they can feel safe and loved with too. I can’t wait to spend some time with your fur babies! I work full time from Tuesdays to Saturdays however I do dictate my own schedule and I am able to work my schedule out a bit. I usually go into work between 8-10am and leave between 4-6pm. Your home is your pet’s safe space, and I believe they are happiest in their own environment surrounded by familiar sights, smells, and comfort. I will come to you, so your pet never has to leave the place they love most. You can trust that your home and your fur baby will be treated with the utmost care and respect. My focus is entirely on keeping your pet comfortable, happy, and stress-free while you are away.
“Sereniti was amazing taking care of my dog during a 3 night stay, and I could tell she was treated like family. I got updates and pictures that showed Diamond happy, relaxed, and having fun. It gave me so much peace of mind knowing she was in such loving hands. I’ll definitely be booking with her again next time I travel! Thanks again.”

“Malena did a great job taking care of my cat and dog while we were away. She also stayed at my home and everything was perfect when I got home. She was kind and gentle with my pets. I would highly recommend her and would certainly use her in the future.”

About: I have taken care of dogs and cats my whole life. Starting watching other people’s animals around 5 years ago. i also have three dogs of my own and used to have a rabbit which was a lot of work and prepared me for more and more. I change around my schedule around it as pets deserve the same attention humans do. They are just as emotional as we are and compassionate. I keep them on leases when needed and keep them in instructed area; fenced in yard, harness, crate, gated area, etc. just basically whatever requirements needed.
“Emily was great! She was very communicative and made sure to ask questions if there was anything she wasn’t sure of and also to make sure the boys had an easy transition to being cared for by her! We will definitely be booking her again in the future!”

“Regina was great with my dog and cat and like others have said she left my apartment in better shape than when I left for my big trip. Will be passing on her info to my friends for when they need a sitter.”

About: I have been caring for pets of family and friends since childhood, and over time it naturally became a passion. I have experience with cats, large and small dogs, guinea pigs, hamsters, and currently I have a rabbit of my own. I am also an exotic pet lover. I have always researched and studied a lot about animal care and health, I like to go beyond the basics to make sure I can provide the best care for my pets. One of my biggest challenges (and achievements) was training my rabbit at home <3 I have always been very attentive with my pets’ health, I even had a personal veterinarian for all of them, including routine check-ups for my hamster haha. For me it is really easy to have a connection with animals and quickly build trust with them, which helps me understand their needs and behaviors. I truly hope to become a veterinarian in the future and continue dedicating my life to animal care. I believe that any living being that is dependent and innocent deserves the highest level of care, love, and protection possible. I currently work part-time, but due to the low season I have a very flexible schedule, which allows me to dedicate plenty of time and attention to pet care. I’m able to adapt easily to each pet’s needs and provide consistent, loving care throughout the day. I live in a gated community, in a apartment with a lot of space. The condominium offers a dedicated dog park with a fenced area where dogs can safely run and play, as well as walking trails for daily exercise. If needed, I can also share photos of the environment so you can feel fully confident and comfortable about where your pet will be staying <3
About: I've spent many years caring for dogs and cats through animal rescue and fostering, working with pets of all ages, sizes, and personalities. My experience includes puppies and kittens, seniors, shy and anxious pets, and animals with special medical or behavioral needs. I'm comfortable giving medications when needed, following detailed care instructions, and making sure every pet feels safe, loved, and comfortable. I understand that every pet is unique, and I treat each one with the same patience, compassion, and attention I'd want for my own. Pet care fits easily into my daily routine because I already spend a lot of time caring for animals throughout the day. I’m used to building my schedule around feeding, cleaning, playtime, and monitoring pets’ health and behavior. I’m organized and flexible, so I can adjust my day to make sure each pet gets consistent attention and care. Whether it’s daily drop-ins or scheduled visits, I prioritize being dependable and on time so pets stay comfortable and owners have peace of mind. In the owner’s home, I follow all instructions closely to keep pets comfortable in their familiar environment. I make sure they are fed on schedule, have fresh water, clean litter boxes or potty breaks, and plenty of attention based on their personality and comfort level. I’m careful to maintain their routine so they feel safe and relaxed while their owner is away. If caring for pets in my home, I would provide a calm, supervised environment, separate from my own pets if needed, and ensure they have a quiet, stress-free space with consistent care, attention, and supervision throughout their stay.
“Christelle was wonderful! As a worrier, she put my mind at ease by providing updates and pictures throughout the day. All my animals were happy when we returned! Thank you!”

“Aaniya was an incredible dog sitter! She took wonderful care of our three dogs and kept us updated daily with messages and photos, which really gave us peace of mind while we were away. She is such a kind and thoughtful person—even going out of her way to buy more treats when we ran out. If you’re looking for someone dependable, compassionate, and attentive to care for your pets, I highly recommend Aaniya!”

About: I am someone who believes that pets are family, and that every animal has a unique personality! That means caring for them isn’t exactly the same every single time. If your pet needs potty breaks, walks, to play fetch, light grooming, or just someone to lay around on the couch with for a while so they don’t get lonely, I’m here to help with that! I work full time from home as an Accountant Monday-Friday, and some weekends I work part time at a neighborhood clubhouse. When you book with me, I will communicate with you how long and how often I am able to visit and care for your precious fur baby, and you just let me know what they need. I am located in Fort Myers on Daniels and Plantation. I work full time from home Monday- Friday. I am looking to do check-ins, pet sitting, and walks on Saturdays and Sundays. If that turns out well I may open up to week night check ins. I’d be comfortable sleeping in bed with your pet or getting them into a crate a night. I love walks so if your animal wants to go for a walk, we will! I can pop by and make sure they have food water and bathroom breaks. My cats are too territorial of their home to have new animals here, so I will come to you.
“Jordan was amazing! She kept me posted with pictures and text to ensure I knew they were happy and enjoying themselves. We had a recent diagnosis for Miss Coco, and Jordan was so empathetic and put me at ease while I was out of town. Thanks again Jordan!!”

About: I volunteered with a puppy rescue for two years, which entailed taking care of dogs of all ages, sizes and breeds. My responsibilities included cleaning kennels, playing with pups, feeding pups, and occasionally medicating them. Dogs bring me so much happiness, so taking care of yours will be a joy! I am a recently graduated college student, so I have lots of time during the week to get out and about! I am an early riser, so mornings are not a problem for me. I can play with, feed, walk, or simply supervise pets in the client's home. I can also bring pets to my own home, which has lots of living room space and a good neighborhood to walk in.
“Laci did a great job with Tucker! Showed up on time, followed instructions I left, and was very respectful in my home. I received lots of photos. Tucker says thanks again for hanging!”

Alexa was fantastic. She stayed at our house with 4 dogs for 4 nights and we can tell they were well loved. We were kept informed of how they were doing periodically, which put our mind at ease and allowed us to focus on our time away. I highly recommend Alexa.
Corrie was PERFECT! Penny absolutely loves her . She took great care of - sent photo updates - took her for plenty of walks - played fetch - loved on her with lots of snuggles . Corrie not only cared for Penny she left our home in better shape than when she arrived and what a relief that was . Having Corrie who is a little bit older than some really makes a difference- she treated our home as if it was her own - she took the initiative which is exactly what we like . She cared for Penny like her own family and was happy to be with her . We will continue to use Corrie in the future for sure . She is dependable- reliable- consciousness- loving and kind you won’t be disappointed if you hire her 💯💕

Christian was very professional. I needed him last minute to stop in and check on my 2 dogs at home and he showed up both times when I needed him. Let me my dogs out, cleaned up a mess that he didn’t have to and was very trustworthy and polite. I didn’t have to time to wait and meet him before letting him in my house which made me nervous but he was very kind and took it slow with my Belgian Malinois to let her warm up to him. We need more people like Christian in this world.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Gateway on Rover is $87.06 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 1,026 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Gateway. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Gateway walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Gateway maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Gateway choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 99% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
