“Absolutely will book again! These two were wonderful with my dog and treated him like their own. I appreciated the updates and photos/videos and great communication. My dog is an anxious dog and he DID SO well with them!”

“This is the 3rd time we have booked Tetiana to watch our pug, Elsie, and we will continue to book with her because she is fantastic. Tetiana is excellent with communication, not only making drop off and pick extremely convenient, but also providing updates about how our dog is doing throughout her stay. She provides a lot of photos, which we always love receiving. Tetiana is kind, caring, professional and a wonderful pet sitter. I’m so happy we found her!”

“Rachel was very accommodating with a meet and greet as well as the pick up and drop off times. She responded quickly to any questions, sent updates/pics, and took good care of Scout. It sounded like he had a lot of fun and he seemed happy, calm, and healthy when we picked him up. Thanks, Rachel!”

“This is a great family home for my dog -- she loved boarding here. Aaron take all your special needs and indulgences into consideration and provides plenty of play opportunities. Just what my little doodle needs!”

“I had a wonderful experience with Hannah and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for reliable, caring pet care. She was attentive, communicative, and clearly treated my Scooby with kindness and patience. It gave me real peace of mind knowing Scooby was safe, happy, and well cared for while I was away. I would absolutely book with Hannah again.”

About: I come from a family who has always had multiple pets at a time, with anywhere from 3 to 10 foster dogs under our care at any given time! I’ve cared for a wide range of dogs from smaller poodles and Shih tzus to much larger retrievers, border collies, and German shepherds. I have experience with cats as well, but much more lengthy experience taking care of dogs of different sizes and temperaments :) I am a med student so my schedule varies in flexibility but I live in a very walkable area and typically spend a lot of time at home studying! I love taking long walks in between classes and studying and would love to bring a furry friend along with me :) As I do have to be in classes some days for a few hours (no more than 3-4 at a time), i am better boarding pets who can be left alone for a couple hours. As for my home, I have plenty of space for them to run around freely.
“Lourdes was wonderful!! Our dog stayed with her for two weeks and she did everything for him to feel loved, cared and comfortable while we were away from him. Lourdes sent us many photos e videos everyday showing our dog playing outside, walking in the backyard and eating. Our dog couldn’t be in better hands than Lourdes. I totally recommend!!”

About: I grew up around animals. I have taken care of my own dogs, cats, rabbits and fish throughout my life. I have also taken care of friends pets when they’ve gone out of town. I am comfortable with large and small dogs, cats, and caged animals. I’m currently working part time so I have plenty of time for your pets. I have a 4yr old who is comfortable around animals and I am available for boarding if your animal is comfortable with men, women, and children. I live on a quiet street in an apartment and look forward to walking with your dog at my home or yours. I am comfortable working with multiple kinds of collars and leashes.
“Morgan was fantastic with our dog, Stella! She had great communication throughout our trip and shared plenty of photos, which gave us so much peace of mind. It was clear Stella was well cared for and happy the entire time. We’d absolutely book with Morgan again and highly recommend her!”

About: We have a secure fenced backyard for supervised play and potty breaks. Dog hangout and sleep in the living room so they are always near people and part of the home. I’ve raised my own dog from a 2-month-old fluffball into a grown German Shepherd, which has given me firsthand experience caring for dogs through different stages of life. I also trained him to be friendly with my 3 cats, so I understand the patience and socialization it takes to help dogs & cats feel safe, comfortable, and happy at home. Available to check in on pet care every 2-4h daily on weekdays and weekends. I’m able to plan my day around walks, drop-ins, playtime, and drop ins. Your fluffy friend will stay in a clean, calm house with a secure fenced backyard for safe potty breaks and supervised outdoor time. Inside, I have extra rooms that can be used to create separate space when needed. Safety and comfort come first!

About: I had a cat for 20 years and cage aninals when i was young. I have owned a dog with anxiety so patience was key. He needed Medication for that and his hips. I own two cats and a hedgehog. My cats come to a whistle, know how to sit and lay down, go to their blanket where ever it is. My older cat is great in the car and the younger cat I am currently training. I cut their nails and bathe them myself. Both are leash trained. I handle my hedgehog daily so that he is well socialized. My cats never bothered the rats or the hedgehog when let out of the cages. They would sleep woth the dog when no one was home. I work 12 hour over night shifts for my regular job. I am looking for day time and, when off night time or overnight opertunities to fit my shifting schedule. I work in Macedon and live in West Henrietta so I am flexible with locations. I am a quiet private person. I have two cats and a hedgehog. I previously owned rats, a dog, leopard gecko, and other caged animals Cages, boxes, bowls and, other cage items are cleaned daily as well as deep cleaning every 4 to 5 days or as needed. I enjoyed taking the dog as well as my cat for a walk! I have patience with animals with anxiety. I walk or handle pets that friends have such as snakes and birds.
“Jacque & Emily were absolutely wonderful with our two dogs. We received a lot of pictures and updates while we were gone. Both seemed happy and well cared for when we arrived to pick them up.”

“Last minute, my usual sitter fell through, and Kate was able to come through and provide my Cooper with a place to stay for the weekend. Kate and her dad provided Coop with excellent care, provided consistent updates and made him feel like home. It was his birthday while I was away as well and they celebrated it and took a video and everything. It was really sweet and above and beyond. I would have Cooper visit these two gems again, anytime with zero trepidation. I strongly encourage anyone in need of a reliable sitter to utilize Kate’s services. Thanks again, again guys! You’re the best.”

“Quinn helped me in a pinch and took such good care of my boy, allowing me peace of mind while I was away. She was very communicative, sent me frequent videos and photos which I LOVED, and really made sure Davey felt at home. I would absolutely book with her again!”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Gates Center
✋ Stop Scrolling ✋ You found the perfect Rover Boarder 🏆 Alex and Bethany were absolutely amazing caregivers for our dog Maya while we were out of town. From the first day it was clear that we’d left Maya with true dog lovers that would care for and spoil her like a member of their family. They have a wonderful fenced-in yard and from their lovely daily photo+video messages, it’s clear they spend plenty of time enjoying the outdoors with their guest. We also appreciated that they only book overlapping dogs with clear permission from the parents, clearly giving dedicated attention to each dog and very healthy socialization when overlapping.

Boarding with Debra was amazing! My pups can be high maintenance and she eased my nerves the second we met. You can tell she loves all the pups that come into her home, as she treats them like her own. She updated me and sent photos of my guys as they got more comfortable being away from us. I couldn’t have asked for anything more in a pet sitter!

We had a wonderful experience with Hollis! From the very beginning, Hollis was friendly, caring, and very communicative. We felt completely comfortable knowing our pet was in good hands. Hollis took great care of everything and kept us updated throughout the stay, which gave us great peace of mind while we were away. It was clear that Hollis genuinely cares about animals and treats them with patience and kindness. We couldn’t be happier with the experience and would definitely recommend Hollis to anyone looking for a trustworthy, responsible, and caring pet sitter. We will absolutely reach out to Hollis again!

Alison maintained good communications and updates throughout the boarding. She took care of their needs as instructed, overall the entire experience went smoothly. My boys seemed to be in great energy when I picked them up and I would highly recommend Alison to look after their fur babies. Thank you!

Archie adores this family. They take such great care of him that he thinks of them as part of his extended family. This is what you want in a sitter. A place where your dog can go and feel like he is on a vacation. They are great at sending photos, communicating, and our dog always looks very happy to be there.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Gates Center home-away-from-home, packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Gates Center.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Gates Center sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
