About: Hello! My name is Jacob and I’ve been surrounded by animals of all kinds for my whole life, and have always loved their company. I will strive to provide the best possible care for your pets and treat them as if they were my own. I’m here for their needs, whether it’s to wear out a young active pup or take a casual stroll around the block letting your senior dog stop as they need to. I’ve always had a lot of flexibility in my schedule and have enjoyed pet sitting as a side job for many years. I’m currently working part time in the early mornings so I have tons of time during the day to help care for your pets. If you need me to stay with your pets I’m usually only gone for a 3.5 hour shift so they won’t be left alone for very long! I will have your pets safety and comfort always in mind and make sure they have what they need to stay happy until you return.

About: I’ve had dogs and cats my entire life and have taken care of them and other people’s. i will love and take care of your animals like my own :) I currently work a lot but never all day it’s normally a morning or an evening shift. either 10-4 or 2-8:30 sometimes i work 10:45-8:30 but i would be able to let you know! I have a big yard for my dogs and have had smaller yards for them as well. whatever your dogs needs are i can figure it out :)
“The second time Erin took care of our little Chihuahua. He was well taken care of! She was communicative and once again wonderful to work with. Will definitely be requesting her again if she is available!”

“Karen was great and came and stayed at my house with my two miniature dachshunds who are very emotionally needy! She spent some good quality time with them and I really appreciated that. Took care of things in the house so that I didn’t have to worry about anything. Would definitely use her again!”

“Aubrey is phenomenal and so kind. She responded to our vacation problems when our pup couldn’t calm down in our VrBO - she worked with me to figure out the best path for our dog and then showed her so much love. THANK YOU AUBREY!”

“Jess was great! She came and did a meet and greet prior to staying with my girls. She sent me photos of them all, she even took care of my little piper when she was sick from eating something she should not have ate! 10/10 recommend”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs since I’ve been 10! I have taken care of friends, family, and neighbors dogs! I have a lot of experience! I have a part time job and also go to college! I am available any day of the week and have a really flexible schedule! I always make sure they are well taken care of! About: Hi, I'm Ash. Animals have been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. I currently care for two dogs of my own and have experience with dogs of different ages, personalities, energy levels, and routines. I know how much trust it takes to leave your pet in someone else's care. My goal is to keep things as consistent, calm, and low-stress as possible while you're away. Whether your dog needs a quiet companion, playtime, walks, medication, or simply someone who pays close attention to their needs, I'm happy to adapt to what makes them most comfortable. I'm reliable, communicative, and detail-oriented. I provide updates so you always know how your pet is doing, and I take the time to learn their routine, preferences, and personality instead of treating every dog the same. I genuinely enjoy caring for animals, and I treat every pet with the same patience, kindness, and respect I give my own. I currently work part-time and offer dog walking and drop-in visits during weekday mornings until 10:30 AM. Evening availability is offered Monday from 3:00–6:30 PM and Friday from 3:00–8:00 PM. My weekends are more flexible, and I do my best to accommodate both planned bookings and last-minute requests whenever possible. For house sitting, I can accommodate many schedules but cannot provide full-time weekday presence due to work commitments. I am happy to discuss your pet's specific needs to make sure we're a good fit. I prioritize keeping your pet’s routine as consistent and stress-free as possible. I pay attention to behavior, environment, and any specific instructions you provide to make sure your pet feels safe and comfortable. In your home, I respect your space and follow your pet’s established routine closely. I also communicate clearly and provide updates so you always know how your pet is doing.
About: I’ve been an animal lover all my life. I’ve been providing personal pet care for the past two years. I get along with dogs of all ages and breeds. I can keep up with any energy level your fur baby has. I currently only have my schedule on Rover filling my time so I have plenty of time to take care of your pets needs and give them the playtime and/or walks they need daily. I will follow and maintain daily medication and feeding schedules of any complexity. I will follow all instructions given to ensure your furry friend gets the care they need. I just need to know what they can and can’t do and will make sure they are on their best behavior while I care for them.
About: I’ve been caring for animals since I was 12, growing up in Mississippi with all kinds of dogs! I grew up on a farm. I've cared for many dogs ranging from puppy to senior. My last senior dog was back in 2022, the love of my life. His name was Oreo, he was around 14 when he passed. He was a rescue from our local humane society. He required multiple different medications due to his age. My current dog, she is 8 months old. I have trained her basic commands such as Sit, Stay, Speak, Jump, Spin and a few more. I work full-time as a Respiratory Therapist, so I kindly ask for a few days’ notice when booking but when I’m off, your fur baby is my top priority! I have a 8 month old standard poodle at home, her name is Cherry. She is a very sweet and playful dog! She loves to play with others and is very well behaved. If you decided to stay here at my house, I do ask for a meet up to just insure safety between our pups! If I come to your home, I will not bring Cherry with me, unless you ask.

“This is our first experience with Rover and it could not have been better. Lila communicated well, left us with a positive feeling after meeting her, made our time away less worrisome, and did a fabulous job. We came home to happy and healthy pets. I cannot recommend anyone any higher. If this is what we can expect from all Rover folks, "Put us in coach!"”

“Laura cared for our two dogs, and if I could give more than five stars, I would. From the moment we met, I knew our home and pets were in excellent hands. She went above and beyond, providing exceptional care, and thoughtful attention that gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. It is clear that Laura genuinely cares about the pets and homes she looks after, treating them with the same care and respect she would her own. Reliable, trustworthy, kind, and highly professional, Laura exceeded every expectation. In addition to caring for our dogs, Laura also fed the fish and watered our plants and flowers. I would recommend her without hesitation to anyone seeking a pet and house sitter, and we have already booked her again!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Fruita
If I could give 10 stars I would ! Jacob was absolutely wonderful. I couldn't have asked for anything more. He had a tough job and we almost cancelled a family reunion we had been planning for months. Our Bernese Mountain dog tore her ACL 2 weeks before we were set to go. She had surgery one week before we left. She had to have a lot of attention. And she got the best care from Jacob. Our Bernese had to have medication 3x a day, PT exercises 2x a day and had to wear the Cone of Shame :-( .. And she had to have her surgical sight cleaned, check and medicated everyday. She had to wear a sleeve on her leg and have it adjusted just right so it wasn't too tight or too loose. Jacob also had to take care of our old finicky cat and water indoor and outdoor plants. Like I said , we couldn't have had a better person to handle all of this than Jacob. He would lay on the floor with her and give her belly rubs several times a day and hold and carry around our cat, who is very particular of who can even touch him. We highly recommend Jacob to house sit, walk your dogs, take care of your pets etc. He was GREAT !

We left our two dogs for the first time ever! Chalee was absolutely wonderful and we could not be more happy that she was our sitter. We found Rover last minute and Chalee was our answer to a prayer, not kidding! Our dogs were happy and well cared for. We will definately be asking for Chalee again.

Elle stepped in last minute to watch our house and pets for a week, and everything went smoothly. The dogs were happy and healthy when we returned, and our home was well cared for. Elle was kind and quick to communicate throughout. We’d definitely recommend her and would happily work with her again.

FAQs for House Sitting - Fruita
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Fruita on Rover is $38.85 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 179 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Fruita. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Fruita walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Fruita maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Fruita choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Fruita. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 86% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 93% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
