“It was such a pleasure to work with Karen! She is professional, reliable, kept me updated, and responded quickly to all my texts (I really miss my dog when I’m gone). She left my home in perfect condition. I look forward to having her stay in my home again soon.”

“Lori took care of quite a full house for us — our St. Bernard, our French Bulldog, our barn cat, our chickens, and even our koi and goldfish and the pond — and it was a great first experience. She sent constant updates and photos throughout the stay, so we always knew exactly how everyone and everything was doing, which was especially reassuring given how much she had to juggle. She was easygoing, clearly comfortable with animals of all kinds, and handled the dogs and koi pond maintenance without a hitch. We'd happily recommend her to anyone with a busy household of pets and property, and we'll definitely be booking her again.”

About: I have been taking care of animals for as long as I can remember. Growing up with horses, dogs, cats and a menagerie of smaller critters such as reptiles, hamsters, mice, rats, guineapigs, chinchillas, fish & more. The majority of the past 35 years I've been raising, chickens, ducks, turkeys, quail, rabbits, goats as well as dogs, cats & other small critters. I had the pleasure of many furry companions who have enriched my life, and I was able to see many of them live very long lives. I am a certified pet sitter, holistic animal behaviorist, certified in CPR/First Aide, and I have also taken several animal herbal, training & communication classes. I have been taking care of friends & family's animals for over 40 years and now I want to extend a helping hand to those on Rover who love their furry companions as much as I love mine. I teach at various venues such as Mesa County Libraries, CMU TECH, Home School Groups & The Bookcliffs Art Center. I can be very busy and then free for weeks just depends on the scheduling. Usually, my classes are 2 to 4 hours with additional drive time and the latest evening class ends at 8pm. So, I can easily do home visits twice a day and overnights are not a problem. I will be taking care of your furry friend in your home. Each home is differnt & each furry friend is different so, I have a questionnaire I ask all of my clients to fill out. The questionnaire askes for details such as what your pets' daily activities, food requirements, meds & administration methods if applicable, likes, dislikes & any instructions to make our time safe & happy. Please add any additional information if it is not . on the questionnaire.
“Brandi was very sweet when we met before her time with our 3 dogs and housesitting. She did a great job and communicated with us, sending pictures. We felt very comfortable with have her here. She cleaned up the house and everything looked great.”

I am currently retired and this has been goal for years to spend these years caring for others loved ones (pet) so they can travel. I lost my beloved Willis in June and decided to care for others pets to bring some joy I will be caring for pets in their own environment and will follow the owners instructions as to their care and safety. Any special needs will be followed per the owners instructions. My Willis was blind and diabetic for the last five years of his life.
“You can’t get a better pet sitter than Chonlada! We are so grateful to her for staying at our house for 8 days and watching our two dogs and elderly cat, who required extra care. It’s hard to find someone you trust to leave your loved ones with, let alone all your processions, but I truly feel comfortable with her. We could tell when we got home that our pets were well loved. No complaints, just gratitude. Thanks Chonlada!”

About: I’m a passionate and dependable pet sitter with 10 years of experience caring for animals of all kinds. I genuinely love animals and treat every pet like they’re part of my own family. I’m active, attentive, and love keeping pets happy and entertained—whether that means going on walks, runs, playing, giving plenty of cuddles, or simply keeping them company. I understand how important it is to feel comfortable leaving your pets with someone you trust, and I’ll make sure they receive the attention, care, and love they deserve while you’re away. Your pet’s happiness and safety are always my top priorities! I offer flexible pet-sitting services for dogs, cats, and other animals such as birds, turtles, and small pets. While dogs and cats are my main focus, I’m happy to care for a variety of animals and follow their individual routines and needs. My schedule is especially open right now, with availability Monday through Sunday, at any time of day or night, depending on your needs. Whether you need a quick check-in, walks, feeding, playtime, overnight care, or someone to stay with your pets while you’re away, I’m very flexible and willing to work around your schedule. My goal is to make pet care convenient, dependable, and stress-free for both you and your pets. With 10 years of experience caring for pets, I understand that every animal has their own personality, routine, and needs. I provide attentive, loving care by following feeding schedules, keeping fresh water available, maintaining clean litter areas or living spaces, providing walks and exercise, and making plenty of time for play and companionship. I pay close attention to changes in behavior, appetite, energy, and overall well-being so I can recognize when something may not be right. Most importantly, I treat every pet with patience, kindness, and respect, making sure they feel safe, comfortable, loved, and cared for while their owners are away.

About: I've cared for animals my whole life: dogs, cats, rats, parrots, fish, and more. Right now I share my home with three senior cats I adore, so I'm right at home with pets who need a little extra patience, a medication schedule, or just someone who reads their quirks and knows when 'she's hiding' means she's fine and when it doesn't. Whatever your pet needs, I've got it covered: feeding and fresh water, meds and pills (even the sneaky ones), playtime and walks, litter and cleanup, and overnight stays so they're never alone. I'm reliable, I show up when I say I will, and I'll send you photos and updates so you can actually relax while you're away. I'm always happy to start with a meet-and-greet so you and your pet can get comfortable with me before booking anything. Tell me your pet's routine and I'll keep it exactly the way they like it. Senior pets, anxious pets, shy pets, high-energy pets, and the occasional exotic are all welcome. I'd love to help take care of your best friend like they're my own. I do part-time software work from home, which gives me a flexible schedule and plenty of time for pet care throughout the day. Since I'm home for much of the day, I can handle midday visits, feedings, and check-ins that a 9-to-5 sitter can't. I'm available for morning and evening care, overnight stays at your place, and drop-ins during the day. Just tell me your pet's routine and we'll find a rhythm that works for both of us. In your home, I respect your space completely. I follow your instructions to the letter, keep doors and gates secured, stick to your pet's normal routine, and leave things exactly the way I found them. I'll send photos and updates at each visit so you always know your pet is safe, fed, and happy. I'm careful with the little things that matter: locking up when I leave, bringing in mail or packages if you'd like, and watching for anything off with your pet's behavior or health so I can flag it early. If something ever comes up, you'll hear from me right away. Above all, I treat every pet like my own and every home like I'd want mine treated, with care, respect, and attention to detail.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of September 2026, there are 191 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Akin. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Akin walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Akin maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Akin choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
