“Jane has been our go to for a few years!! Not only is she great with our fur babies. But let me tell you, she’s also an amazing photographer! So you receive the best quality photos while you’re away. If something slips your mind as you’re preparing for your trip, do not worry Jane will think of it and run things by you - then all will be well again because you’re in good hands!! Jane, thanks doesn’t begin to cover it!”

“Brittney was just the right care giver for our shy kitties! The pictures she sent eased my over protective heart. When we got home, the water & food bowls were filled & litter boxes were clean & tidy. She even took in our early Amazon delivery. We will definitely call on her every time we go away!”

“Lizette did a great job doing drop in care for my cat. She gave me lots of updates and pictures of him. I could tell he was having fun with her!! I will definitely use her again and recommend her :)”

“Shelby met with us before we hired her and was good with our dogs in person. She did mid-day breaks two days in a row while we were unable to be at home. She navigated two energetic youngsters and a senior pup. Will use again.”

“Arya takes care of our boys (two kitties) like they are her own and they LOVE her! She goes above and beyond and truly makes traveling so much easier knowing that they are taken care of!!”

About: I’ve had animals all my life! When I was 9 we had 3 cats, 4 dogs, a parrot and an aviary of small birds. Over the years I’ve taken care of all sorts of breeds from Chihuahuas to Labradors. Currently I have a semi-reactive pitbull rescue so I’m very sensitive to any special interaction needs. I work from home so my schedule is incredibly flexible. I can pop in pretty much anytime for walks or visits, and overnight care on weeknights is no problem. I can be in your home with your furry one as much or as little as you’d like. Whether they’re couch potatoes or avid walkers, I’m there to keep them occupied, loved and fed (occasionally with some homemade treats).
About: I grew up around large dogs and one extra sweet Pomeranian and I can handle dogs of any size and class I have experience wrangling anxious German shepherds during fireworks and thunder storms. I also have experience working with senior dogs, including grooming and administering medications in different forms. I’m a dog person without a dog but I would love to help you and your four-legged friend(s) have a great, stress-free life. I work full-time but my job is hybrid so I do have some flexibility around lunchtime. Late afternoon, nights, and weekends are also fully available! With me, your dog won’t be in an open space without a leash, gates and doors will be closed, and potentially hazardous foods and materials will be out of reach. I’ve handled anxious and reactive dogs in the past and know the signs and behaviors of a stressed or otherwise overstimulated dog.
About: Animals have always been a big part of my life, and I have experience caring for dogs of all sizes, from tiny companion breeds to XL dogs. I’m comfortable with puppies, seniors, special-needs pets, and animals with unique personalities or behavioral quirks. I take the time to learn each pet’s routine and preferences so they feel safe, loved, and stress-free while in my care. My goal is to treat every pet as if they were my own. 🐾 My flexible schedule allows me to provide dependable care throughout the day and evening. Because I don’t have many fixed commitments, I’m able to adapt to your pet’s normal routine, whether that includes walks, feeding schedules, playtime, medications, or simply companionship. I strive to keep pets comfortable by maintaining the routines they’re used to while their owners are away. I provide care in your pet’s familiar environment, helping reduce stress and keep their routine consistent. I take the time to learn each pet’s needs, habits, and preferences to ensure they feel safe and comfortable while you’re away. Whether your pet needs medication, extra attention, exercise, or a quiet companion, I will treat both your home and your pets with the same respect and care I would my own. Clear communication and regular updates are always a priority. 🐾
“Diane was wonderful! I felt confident and comfortable with her from our first meeting. She took great care of my 3 cats while we were away and sent me pictures from each visit. The communication was solid and she was just overall amazing with my fur babies! I will definitely use her services next time we are away!”

“Sharon was very attentive with my very shy recently- adopted senior kitty. He likes to stay under the bed, but Sharon was able to get him to come out and play. I appreciate the updates with pictures, too, which let me know he was doing fine.”

“I had a long day trip and needed some help with my 3 dogs. She showed up on time and when I returned the dogs were super happy and calm. I even got an adorable photo! Easy and I would be happy to use her again.”

“Yamileth is AMAZING! She’s so patient, gentle and kind with the dogs, especially with Cooper who is very difficult to deal with. I’m so grateful for her calm manner with my nervous pups, and for her flexibility in scheduling. She’s the best and I’m feel super lucky I found her and she was available🐾”

“Stephanie is the absolute best! She takes the best care of my sweet boy when she visits. She shares the best PUPdates with each visit and it’s so easy to see how much she truly cares for my baby. Amazing!!”

About: I have been cat sitting and fostering pets for about a year now, taking care of friends cats and helping animals in crisis (medical needs requiring them to be away from the shelter or in need of a temporary home). I work from home, so taking care of pets and being available to any of their needs would fit very easily into my daily or weekly routine. I would care for pets in my home just as they were my own pets. They would be free to roam the house (barring a few closed doors) and I would cater to any medical needs or preferences and follow their pre-determined schedule as closely as possible.

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Free Home. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
