“Rena was amazing, thorough, communicative, thoughtful, and responsible. She went above and beyond for our dogs who range in age from a puppy to elderly with medical issues. As a first time Rover client, Rena left a seriously positive experience. 10/10 recommend!!”

“Brittney was just the right care giver for our shy kitties! The pictures she sent eased my over protective heart. When we got home, the water & food bowls were filled & litter boxes were clean & tidy. She even took in our early Amazon delivery. We will definitely call on her every time we go away!”

“What an absolute star! On relatively short notice, MyQueisha saved the day for my very needy but loving fur babies. She dropped in twice a day for three days this week, and when I returned home from my long shifts my dogs seemed so happy and not at all antsy from me being gone. They received excellent care from a truly lovely person, and I will book her again in the future no question.”

“Had an absolute wonderful experience with Justice! My fur babies were well taken care of down to the detailed instructions. My senior was given her medication orally even when my senior pup gave her a little trouble taking it, she made sure my pup got her meds. I am so thankful to have had someone who knew what they were doing and did it wonderfully! All three of my big fur babies enjoyed having Justice watch over them.”

“Morgan is confident, reliable, and accountable. After making a small mistake, she identified what she could have done differently and shared plans for change. I feel my dogs are safe in her care.”

“Lizette was amazing! This was our first time having someone new watch our cats while out of town. Lizette was fantastic at asking all the right questions to make sure she was up on the routine. She loved on them, snuggled them and made sure they were well cared for! So happy to have Lizette as a contact to love and care for our girls when we are out of town :) Highly recommend!”

About: I am a long time dog owner, and recent college grad. I do not work a traditional 9-5 which allows me lots of flexibility to meet your needs! I do not work a traditional 9-5 so I can mostly make my schedule around the pets that I am looking after, it is a priority. Making sure the animal is comfortable with me and feels safe and at home. Making sure I’m following the instructions of the owner when it comes to food, training, and walking.

About: I am new to Rover but I was a foster for a shelter in Florida for 5 years, I have had many different types of dogs and cats. I love animals and would have a lot more if I could! I stay at home all day and I am available to care for your pet anytime. I love being around animals weather it’s playing ball or just walking. I live on 3.5 acre and have a fenced yard. I even have a fence in front yard. I like to use leashes for my little dog when I go outside due to coyotes. My dogs are in my house and can roam anywhere.
“Charis dropped in to see our 5 cats each day over a 4 day weekend. She is so easy to work with and wonderfully detailed regarding her visits! We have her coming back next weekend, and I know the cats will be well taken care of. 😊”

It was clear she genuinely cared for my cat and treated her with so much kindness. About: Ever since I was little I’ve connected with animals very naturally. I have had pet cats and dogs from as long as I can remember, and I treat all animals with a deep respect. I work Tues-Thurs as a pharmacy technician at Publix and am mostly unavailable during those days. I have open availability from Fri-Mon every week I have two dogs and two cats that I take care of on a daily basis. I will treat your pets like I do my own. I am good at following instructions and am a great problem solver.
“Amy is amazing with Oscar! She is always on time, sends lots of pictures and updates, and spends quality time playing with him. It's clear she genuinely cares about him, and I always have peace of mind knowing he's in such good hands.”

About: Dogs have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, and caring for them has always come naturally to me. I've been involved in rescuing and fostering dogs, helping them feel safe, loved and ultimately find their forever homes. I also have experience caring for senior dogs and understand the extra patience and attention they need. As a dog owner myself, I know that great pet care is about so much more than feeding, potty breaks and walks. I have Golden Retrievers who absolutely thrive on love, companionship, play and attention, and I know how important it is to find someone who will genuinely spend time with your dogs rather than simply check the boxes and leave. I've also hired pet sitters for my own dogs, so I understand the little touches that give an owner peace of mind-keeping their routine familiar, giving them plenty of love, sending photo updates, and making sure they feel happy and secure while their family is away. I'll care for your animals the way I would want someone to care for mine, with a lot of love, patience, attention and genuine affection. To me, they're family. With my oldest off to college and my youngest now a senior, I suddenly have a lot more flexibility and time in my schedule- and I'm excited to spend that time doing something I truly love: caring for animals. In my home, pets have access to a large fenced yard and a doggie door, with plenty of room to play, relax and feel comfortable. Dogs are allowed anywhere in the home, including the sofas. In a client's home, I follow their normal routined as closely as possible including feeding, walks, medications, playtime, and any specific instructions. I'm careful about doors, gates, leashes, and surroundings, and I make sure pets receive plenty of attention, affection, and supervision. I also send updates and photos so owners can feel confident that their pets are safe, happy, and well cared for.

About: Owners will love how I take care of their furry loved ones! I have grown up being around dogs my whole life. I’m a available early mornings, early evenings and weekends. I love being a pet sitter because it gives me the opportunity to meet and bond with so many new pets and their owners, enjoying all the different personalities of my client’s pets. It’s rewarding when an animal loves seeing you when you walk in the door. I’ll spoil and love on your fur babies as much as I can while I’m visiting them. I truly enjoy the company of pets and I look forward to providing you peace of mind and the utmost in care for you and your four legged family members!
About: Hi, I’m Kassidy! I’ve been petsitting for about 10 years, and I’ve taken care of everything from dogs and cats to horses, goats, chickens, and pigs. I genuinely love working with animals, whether that’s hanging out with a shy kitty, going on walks with an energetic dog, or keeping a farm running while you’re away. I’m comfortable giving medications, including injections, and I always make sure pets feel safe and cared for. I treat every animal like they’re my own and do my best to stick to their normal routines so they stay happy and relaxed. If you’re looking for someone dependable, communicative, and experienced with all kinds of animals, I’d love to help! Pet care fits easily into my routine because my schedule is very open right now. I’m taking time off during the holidays to be with my family, so I have plenty of flexibility to give pets consistent attention, walks, check-ins, and companionship throughout the day. I care for pets by following their normal routines as closely as possible. Whether in my home or a client’s home, I provide plenty of attention, playtime, walks, and a calm, safe environment. I keep communication open, monitor behavior closely, and make sure every pet feels comfortable, loved, and well cared for.
“Immediately upon meeting Avary, all 4 of our dogs were completely comfortable with her which speaks volumes. She was flexible and followed all directions for our pups. When she had a question, she asked instead of guessing. Avary gave our dogs love and checked in regularly. I was so nervous leaving them in the care of someone new but Avary did not disappoint. She showed that the wellbeing of our dogs were her top priority.”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
