“I met Adrienne recently to have her pet sit. Upon first meeting, she asked all the appropriate questions about how to care for them. The weekend had some adventures (not fault of hers) but she handled it beautifully and showed so much love for my pets. I absolutely will use her again. ❤️ -from A Veterinarian”

“Jessica has cared for our pups 3 times now. They're not the easiest to handle at times but she's a true Godsend. She's very detail oriented about their routines and habits and very patient when needed. She took great care of the house while we were gone for a week as well. So glad we found her and will definitely have her watch our pups again and again.”

“Tracy took great care of our 3 Frenchies while we wetter on vacation. She was very responsive, sent pictures daily, sometimes multiple times. I was very confident after meeting Tracy that she had the compassion and experience to take good care of our pups. We will definitely be using her again.”

About: I will spoil your pets as if they were my own! I have my own dog, Jovie. She is a 9 month old lab mix and very strong willed. She is also in training to become a service dog. I am used to taking care of big dogs, but have no problem with small ones as well. I will walk and do drop ins to make sure your four legged baby is well taken care of! Currently, I am available most days. Since I was little, animals have always been a big part of my life. From puppies to senior dogs and tiny hatchlings to full grown tortoises, every animal is just a baby and should be taken care of as such. In all my years pet sitting, never have I met a pet that didnt become a friend. I love walking my dog everyday, and multiple times a day. As a high energy breed, she very much thrives from multiple walks and one on one time with mom.
“Jennifer was amazing staying with both my dogs while I was out of town. This was the first time someone outside of family cared for them and it was such a great experience. She sends many updates and is super responsive and just great with animals overall. Also was great with the house sitting aspect. She cared for both the house and dogs during a snowstorm. (And even shoveled Highly recommend!”

“This was our 2nd time having Kristen care for our dog while we were out of town, and once again, she exceeded all expectations, this time while we were traveling internationally. The 1st time she watched him, we were blown away by her professionalism, warmth, tentativeness and genuine love for animals. She made such a strong impression that we felt completely at ease leaving the country, knowing he was in the best possible hands. Throughout our trip, Kristen kept us updated multiple times a day, sending detailed messages along with plenty of photos that clearly showed how happy and comfortable our pup was. She took him on frequent walks, made sure he stayed active and engaged, and paid close attention to his individual needs and routines. What really touched us was how evident their bond had become, our dog absolutely adores her. You could see it in his expressions, body language, and the sweet moments she captured in her updates. It’s such a relief and a joy to know he’s not just being “watched,” but truly cared for and loved in our absence. Kristen is an incredible caregiver and truly a blessing to us!. Knowing she’s there gives us peace of mind that’s hard to come by. We can’t recommend her highly enough.”

“Miranda was great! This was our first time using a pet sitter, and Miranda made it a great experience. She sent lots of pics and updates. I felt at ease leaving my baby boy while I was out of town! I will definitely be a repeat customer.”

“Sara was absolutely incredible to work with! One of our dogs got into some raisins the day before we left town, and was in the Pet ER. With some help from family, when our dog got home, Sara was incredibly competent with handling a variety of meds, foods, timing of things, and showed an exceptional awareness of the needs for both dogs. She communicated often and was very thorough. We are so thankful that Sara was there!”

“Heidi tool great care of my pup, Felix. She was very organized and made sure she had a list of questions to fully understand his routine before I went out of town. She made sure to give me updates throughout the day and was responsive to all my inquiries. I highly recommend Heidi for any of your pet care needs!”

“Erika was amazing! She accommodated us and was responsive. Our pets seemed to enjoy her and had a relaxing time while we were away. We will be reaching back out to her for future visits!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Frederick
Karen was absolutely the best dog sitter and house sitter. We were overseas for 10 days and our blind dog is very averse to strangers. She came over a couple of times so he could get used to her. Her calm presence and gentle manner immediately put him at ease. He's very barky but she remained perfectly calm. He warmed up fast and they were best buddies soon after we left. Notably, Karen also took amazing care of our house - watering plants, filling the bird feeders, taking out trash, and leaving our place perfectly clean. She provided our special needs dog with exactly the kind of caring, loving, calm environment that he needed while we were gone and provided us with the peace of mind that we needed to enjoy our vacation. Karen gets our highest recommendation to anyone considering her for pet/house sitting.

Rochelle did an excellent job watching our two pups over a long weekend. She got along with them right away, helped us administer daily medications, and kept me and my wife up to date with fun pictures, videos each day. She kept our house in excellent shape, and she even left us a pressed four leaf clover that she found in our yard. We look forward to booking with her again!

Kristen was fantastic with our dogs even when our husky went full husky on the very first night. With one of our dogs being a new diabetic, it was great to have her expertise stay with the dogs so she could administer the insulin shot twice a day. We would definitely use Kristen again.

Valeria was the first person my timid mini bernedoodle immediately warmed up to. She has that warm quiet demeanor. She was our house sitter my two babies and I felt they were in good hands. She let them be in the bed with her, sent me a picture and very attentive to my “puppy manual” that I leave for house sitters. She came on time and checked in with me before leaving. I will definitely ask her to have sleepovers with my dogs.

We had a great experience with Leslie. She accommodated our booking last minute, which was incredibly helpful and took a lot of stress off our shoulders. She kept us updated throughout Olive’s stay with messages and photos. We really appreciated her responsiveness, flexibility, and the care she showed Olive. Would absolutely book with her again!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Frederick walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Frederick maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Frederick choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
