“Again, Sabrina takes care of my girl so well while away for 5 days. She always gets us through the month of May as I finish the school year with trips and long work days.”

“Can’t recommend Lily enough. She’s thoughtful, extremely detailed, and goes above and beyond. She took care of our 2 year old Golden while we were gone for the day and made sure he had everything he needed to be happy and comfortable. She stuck to his routine and kept him safe which is all we could ask for.”

“First time leaving my dog at home while we went on a trip. Gina took exceptional care of her, our guinea pigs, and fish. Very responsive and sent lots of pictures and updates. Will rebook with Gina and her daughter in the future!”

“Allison dropped in on Kobe for multiple days while I was commuting in and out of town for a work event. She responded quickly and was flexible. She followed directions and gave great updates and photos during the check-ins. We would definitely use her again in the future!”

“Angela has been a godsend. My cat absolutely loved her and was so well cared for, I had total peace of mind in my trip. I’ll call on her every single time I need to be away from my kitty.”

About: I’m 49 years old and have had the joy of caring for dogs throughout my life. I regularly babysit my neighbors’ dogs and genuinely love getting to know each dog’s unique personality. Caring for animals is something I truly enjoy, and I take pride in making every dog feel safe, comfortable, and loved while they’re in my care. Because I work from home, I have plenty of time throughout the day to give your dog attention, companionship, and care. I’m happy to follow your dog’s normal routine as closely as possible. Their day will include plenty of playtime, activity, outdoor time, and lots of love, with a comfortable balance of fun and relaxation. When you’re away, I want you to feel completely confident that your dog is safe, secure, comfortable, and genuinely loved while they’re in my care. I have a small terrier of my own who loves having a friend to play with, so your pup can have a built-in companion if they enjoy socializing with other dogs. I also have a spacious backyard where dogs can safely play and relax, plus a dog park nearby for pups who enjoy getting out and exploring. I understand that every dog has their own personality, routine, and comfort level. I’ll take the time to learn what makes your dog feel at home—from their feeding schedule and favorite activities to their sleeping habits and any special instructions you provide. My goal is simple: to care for your dog the way I would want someone to care for mine. You’ll receive plenty of love, attention, and updates so you can enjoy your time away knowing your best friend is in good hands. I’d love the opportunity to meet you and your pup and make sure we’re a great fit!
About: With years of experience caring for dogs and cats, I bring patience, consistency, and genuine love for animals. I’ve raised my own pets from puppyhood and understand how to support different energy levels and personalities. My two miniature schnauzers are playful and social, making them wonderful companions for visiting dogs. I stand out because I’m attentive, reliable, and truly enjoy creating a safe, fun environment where every pet feels at home. I work in the school district, so my schedule is very flexible during weekends, school closures, and holidays. I’m also available on some evenings during the week. Pet care fits naturally into my routine, and I’m happy to help whenever my schedule allows. I keep pets safe, comfortable, and supervised at all times. My home is clean and dog‑friendly, and I introduce pets slowly to make sure everyone feels relaxed. When I’m in a client’s home, I follow your routine exactly, keep doors and gates secure, and give your pet calm, consistent care.

“Sydney was available last minute for Gunner and sent great photos and gave a detailed summery of their visit. I really appreciate that and sounds like Gunner had a great time with her.”

“Had two back to back last minute requests and Ariel was amazing about it! Granted, we don’t expect to do that often but she’s incredible about working with our dog! Absolutely love her and trust her with our fur baby!”

“Yilin watched our 3 cats for almost 2 weeks. She did a fantastic job. She arrived on time, took mat pictures and videos of our cats, and brought in packages left for us. She played with the cats and kept their litter and food area very clean. She is very friendly and cared for our babies as if they were her own. I would definitely hire Yilin again the next time we have to travel!”

“I was so happy to have Leah stop in and take care of our pups. She met them ahead of time and made sure she understood what we needed done. We hired her at the last minute and she was very flexible. One of our dogs is super scared of everyone and she did great with Leah! I will definitely hire again without hesitation.”
“Michelle is so good with my Duke! I’m sure he listens to her more than he does me! She follows all instructions to keep my pup trained as well as stimulated. They have a fabulous time together !! I always know they’ll have a great time together!”

“Keyla and Alejandro are fantastic! They take great care of my fur babies during the days when I’m at work. They are also incredibly flexible which is much needed as a healthcare worker since my shifts change week to week. Would highly recommend them to anyone looking for daily care for their babies!”

Melissa did a wonderful job cat-sitting my cat! She was reliable, caring, and made sure my cat was well taken care of while I was away. I really appreciated the updates and felt completely comfortable knowing my cat was in good hands. I would definitely recommend Melissa and would happily have her cat-sit again!

Sydney was great! From setting up our meet and greet and learning their routines, to taking care of our cat and kitten both with their own special needs, we were able to go away and not having to worry about our fur babies. Communication was easy, instructions were followed with care, and updates provided throughout her visits put our minds at ease. We will absolutely be booking with Sydney again!

Angela is a wonderful pet sitter! She made sure our cats were engaged and also that they were eating and drinking. She provided pictures and videos every day along with a few notes on how the visit went. We will definitely seek her out again when we plan our next getaway.

Jaci was amazing! So sweet to talk with and very attentive with any requests. It was my first time leaving my boy at home for an extended time and I felt confident leaving him in her hands. All of the photos and videos sent back were so cute and was a highlight every day to see<3

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
